Since the last patch has anyone noticed any issues with your characters security status? For example, last night I took out 2 anomalies in a .5 system killing perhaps 60 rats which included some big NPCs. The payout was over 800K isk. However, my security status only went up 0.011%. I noticed that my status hardly changes, or does not change at all no matter what I do. Did the calculation for security status points change?

Assuming you started with 0 security status, that 0.011% gain translates to a 0.00011 real increase, so it's likely it's going to to be truncated in the display.
Bear in mind that the percentage increase is based off the difference between 10 and your current sec status, so the higher your sec status, the lower the real effect.
Finally, there's a cap on sec status gains from low level rats. For example, Gurista Annihiliators cap out at 2.5. For further information, see the knowledge base.

Thank you for the response, that answered my question. I did not know there were caps on the points you could earn for different rats.

Does it not even show up in the log? I've been doing very low level ratting (I am a total scared n00b) and my sec status never goes up, and nothing ever is in the sec status log. I admit I haven't killed *many* rats, maybe 15 low level ones, but still...
I hate the glacial pace of sec status increases. hate it.

You're getting it totally wrong. There's no need to grind up security status. It means nothing in this game, unless you engage actions not sanctioned by Concord.
And if you DO need to grind sec status so you can enter empire, then it's done in 0.0 or 0.1.
Think of security status as a side-effect of ratting/doing missions, and forget about it unless you're a pirate.

Hmmm....ok...that makes sense. I guess I was interested in high sec status for RPing reasons anyways, but if it doesn't matter at all, then, well, that's cool.
Thanks.

You'll only need to get your sec status up so you can go back to doing whatever takes it down:)
Besides that, there's no point, and raising sec status alone is something few worry about unless they're required to do so due to their low sec status.s.
