I See these skills on list of "seeded but nyah nyah we're not giving them out anymore"
One on contracts for 700 mil (yeah right)
Where can I get these books just for collection purposes?
Are they even in game anymore? |

Dont waste isk over skills that do nothing.
When these skills do something, they will be seeded on market for less than 700mil, more like a few mil max.

ATm the only way to get them is vai the mega expensive contracts - though if they ever become useful then they will be seeded.

With these books in extremely low supply (if any at all) you'll have to pay whatever the seller wants for it, even if it's "just for collection purposes" (there's no other reason at all to get them btw).
It depends how serious you are about collecting and how much isk you have.

They're rare and also useless. Got it.
These aren't dropped any more for any agents, anywhere?
A lead to one would be nice.

If they were, anyone with such knowledge would be able to make billions and billions off it, I doubt they'd tell you...
Anyway, as Rattus said, the only way to get them is to buy them (via contracts) from someone who still has one available from back when they were available.

Hey RaTTus! You're one of the more skill-oriented players in the game, when and how did you get these books? Must have been a while back...
I'm a fledgling skill collector as well - got most of the rare ones but am having a hard time swallowing the price for these.
Ok, thanks everyone for your answers and help - please evemail me with any leads for these two books! ---------------------------------------------------

First: Where did they come from?
There was a bug that allowed you to buy seeded items even though they did not appear on market. And as these skills where seeded (but hiiden) some people bought them and sold them on as a rare item. (They weren't really rare as all who knew the bug could just buy them.) The bug was closed, and they cant be gained anymore. Thus only a limited sypply exists. CCP havent removed the skills, but alas, as they where not meant to do anything yet, they are pointless.
Second: Getting them!
You can only buy them from contracts at the insame prices they go at. I have one sitting as a skillbook in my hangar, cant remeber which though. And, no, its not for sale. Might just come in handy one day for "early bird" training once they (if ever) get useable.

I see you have Genetic Engineering which means you have the potential to overtake the top 3 skill collectors in the in eve rankings.
If you can get these 2 industry skills that is

Edited by: Kyreax on 30/04/2008 20:05:03 Sure...gimme a year or ten and I'll catch up.
Why is genetic engineering so rare? EDIT: oh yeah, I got it at character creation I think.
And no, I don't think I'll overtake anyone because I don't have Black Market Trading or whatever that one is called. ---------------------------------------------------

Ok, found the Mobile Refinery Operations skillbook, thanks.
Now I just need to locate the Mobile Lab ops one and I'll be golden.
I wonder why ccp doesn't just keep these on the market for 1 mil isk or something. ---------------------------------------------------

"Salvage Drone Operation" was given out as a mission reward for one of the starter invention missions if I remember correctly.
CCP removed the skill completely from the game, even from those who had trained it, but after an uproar on the forums, the books and skills were re-instated.
I have a "Salvage Drone Operation" skillbook sitting in my hanger still :)
No idea what it is worth, but it is cool to look at :P

Currently the theoretical max number of attainable skills is 359 (361 inc Genetic Engineering and Black Market Trading, which were character creation skills only)
So you can potentially reach 360 skills whereas the top collectors can only reach 359. granted it will take you a couple years, but possible.

Well, I have salvage drone operation already, 19 skills in drones, that's maxed out.
BUT, there are collectors with Black Market Trading already too, so he best I can do is get 360.
I would bet that by then there will be several more skills released (at least) so the max will be around 400.

yeah it's fun ... and expensive ... I think I got my mobile lab from a rat drop the other mobile one was from another source
I'm currently training some skills I need - but then I have a long slog for the Large weapon spec :-(
currently RL issues means I'm not in game much but as I have long skills to train it's Ok ...
I always wish I started earlier than I did ... then I'd be a month further down the path

I enjoy collecting skills too, but currently I'm at a roadblock of sorts.. I have to choose between a craving for new skills to my collection or the ability to better do what I want / use a wider variety of t2 equipment and ships. For example, I have most t2 ship skills but the ships themselves require level 5 in the base ship skill.
