Between yesterday and today CCP threw the switch that made NPC Pirates warp scramble with not -1, but with much, much more strength. 1-2 per ship. I was scrambled by 5 ships while NPC hunting in 0.0 space in my Tempest.
The usual happened... too many morts, got too close. Shields going down a lot faster than I can boost them. So I warp out. My trusty warp stabilizer sitting in one of my precious low slots doing it's duty.... "You cannot warp because you are scrambled" .. shields now down to 0% and cutting into my armor. *(#$*(#$(#$!!!!!!!
Needless to say, I turned the ship around, kicked off the anode cannon, and figured I'd go down in a blaze of glory.
When the dust cleared and a little structure remained, I managed to off the last rat and survive. Even with just him, I couldn't warp out.. so they were using -2 scramblers it seems.
Not cool. Not cool at all!!!! Too much.
CCP you've done it gain... congrats. No hidden belts anymore, and nearly impossible pirates?
Ohwell. Increased costs! Sigh. Time to sell zydrine at 20k a unit...

Hmmm... Wouldn't they announce if they changed it? I hunted today in 0.0 and npc's came close on me a couple of times. But i have 2 warpscramblers on because one has never been enough. Thats what i heard.

I thought scramblers always stacked like that?

Hate to break it to you, but most NPCs warp scramble with a strength of 2. And have done for quite some time now.

Advice that was given to me by experienced 0.0 rat hunters while I was still in a frigate and they were in Megathrons, scorps, and ravens...:
If you're going to burn up a lowslot for a warp stab, better make it 4 or you're wasting your time. Each rat uses 2 and there's usually 3 or more scrambling you. And the effect lasts as long as it lasts, even if you blow them up.
From my experiences since, nothing has changed. And if you have so many available lowslots that you can afford to fit 4 warp stabs you may as well fit 2 or 3 armor repairs and a gun mod in there instead.

I've always only used 1 core stabilizer. Been just fine even with multiple cruisers less than 10km from me.
Only thing I have a problem with is the missle spamming guristas that bounce your ship around so much you can't even align. I think that has recently been toned down though....or something. _________________________________ Indefinately MIA Former CEO Occassus Republica - Military Division Leader Founding members of the Venal Alliance You'll Find Religion When I Find You |

I realise this'll be obsolete as soon as they update to having NPC Interceptors doing the jamming (not fun!) but which rats currently warp jam?
I've had several Angel rats in real close and can't recall any warp scramble messages. (And have warped out okay a couple of times when they *really* got too close and things got hairy!) Though I think their BS do. Serpentis rats ISTR *do* scramble. How about others?

As far as angels go i know for sure scouts jam i think also marauders and liquidators do although one of those 2 may be webbers.

The current NPC pirates use tech 2 items its absolutely normal for them to have astrenght 2 warp scrambler.
And the NPC arent to hard now, i can mine alone with defending myself in my megathron with 5 miner 2 and 9 harvesters, onll 3 high slots for defence.
You need skills and experience but you can do it.
Hunting in 0.0 alone for me its to easy no fun, only NPC BS is a reall excitement and fun , but hard to find them.
Just after castor patch the NPC were really tough, was not possible to mine alone with 15-20 ships spawns in this 4-8 cruisers...
You need to experiment a bit and find my setup or your own setup but NPC arent hard now , with the exception of NPC BS.

Edited by: Earthan on 27/04/2004 12:04:50 No sense to equip a ship against NPC with one warp stab now, equip with 2 or 0...

thats an interesting question.. its the widespread belive that CCP has to tell us everything.. but guess what.. the npcs are pirates, and we **SHOULDN'T** know their fitting prior anyways.. best would be if the npcs would operade one of many random templates... that way npc hunting might get more interesting and unpredictable... that way also the NPC setup would get closer to PVP setup.... just my 2cent though... ----

I was hunting rats the other day in 0.2 and I was webifired and warp scrambled. I didn't get any messages about the warp scrambling just saw the efect coming from the rats (ya know the blue thing coming at you from the scrambling ship) and the blue aura of the web fired.
It didn't make any diference for the rats anyway "ÆIn accordance with the principles of double-think it does not matter if the war is not real. For when it is, victory is not possible. The war is not meant to be won, but it is meant to be continuous.Æö George Orwell ô1984ö |

NPCs have been using strength 2 warpscramblers since forever.
And they also scramble at longer ranges than we can. Also been like that since forever.

That statement is wrong on so many levels. If he had lost his ship, would it be ok to whine?
I doubt you think so.
