Been doing level 3's in my ishtar without any problems what so ever 90% of the missions i dont even turn the tank on sentries kill everything very quickly. just finished pirate invasion without lossing more then 20% of my sheilds.
Is it possible to take this ship into level 4's i do not want to put any skill points into things above cruiser so dont tell me to get a domi. also i am not going to put any time into sheild tanking so a passive sheild tnak is out.
If it is possible, what kind of dps am i going to need to tank? and is it viable to do with sentry's (since i might have to move around to mess with battle ships tracking). Secondly what kind of dps do i need to put out? are sentry's in an ishtar with drone iterfacing 5 good enough or do i need to bring some gunnery skills to the battle or a sentry damage rig?
Any incite at all into how to pull this off would be great :)

You can fly an Ishtar but don't know about level 4 missions?
Anyways, Ishtar can fit a crazy tank, more than enough to handle level 4 missions. I would start with extra tank, and work your way down as you become comfortable with the missions. Sentries can work well, and you should have plenty of room in the Ishtar for some other drones as well (make sure you bring some capable of blasting web/scramble frigates). And use the eve survival guides. But you should have zero problems in level 4 missions with that ship. |

Pirate alt was being trained, left eve gave main to a friend came back to eve on the alt that had never really even flown in space yet but had some decent skills trained up. so i have no idea about level 4's in an ishtar :) |

Hehe, fair enough. I'd say.. think of it like a Domi, except you won't have the large hybrids (who cares anyways) but you'll have a stronger tank. I'd be tempted to use some salvage and tractor gear in your highs, just clean up as you go. It won't make for the fastest mission ship, but the Ishtar can be amazingly tanky. If you want to make good time on missions, recruit a friend that deals high DPS and burn through the level 4's as a duo. |

highs: whatever (dont forget to put at least a gun to get aggro) meds: 10mn ab2, large cap bat2, 3 x cap recharger 2 lows: 2 x mar2, dcu2, eanm2, armor hardener2 rat specific rigs:auxiliary nano pump, expl resist
Drones whatever you like, t2 only
With capacitor skills at level 5 works fine.

I run optional highs large cap battery, 10mnAB, 3 cap rechargers dual medrep, 3 specific hardners
Small sig + helluva tank = nothing hitting you in missions you cant tank, and lol if its kintherm :D |

I have been running a sensor booster and a omnidirectional tracking link in my mids... is this a waste? i have been using sentries at very long range but i suppose i can up my tank if i drop thos 2 mods out. |

It comes down to what you want to do. I went for ogres, with sentries as a backup, and going in close for salvaging in the highs. Conseqeunce of which, i need my tank and the ab running all day long. So for me the cap rechargers were essential. On the other hand, if you can be assured of BEING at max range often enough, maybe not. Some missions warp you in close tho, so I prefer to have the tank. |

Edited by: Lunch Money on 04/05/2008 20:14:40 ishtar is gr8 ship for lvl4 Its fast. But way you do it is other then like for dominix. In domi you dont move and tank. while in ishtar you tank with your speed. you look for object hit orbit, get all agrro and deploye drones. first must die webbing drones. you will have enough tank to deal with them. My setup:
[Ishtar, lvl4 amarr missions] True Sansha Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane Armor EM Hardener II Armor Thermic Hardener II Medium Armor Repairer II True Sansha Medium Armor Repairer
Republic Fleet 10MN Afterburner Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II
220mm Vulcan AutoCannon II, EMP M <- for getting agro, civilian gatling will do fine :P Salvager I Small Tractor Beam I Salvager I Small Tractor Beam I
Capacitor Control Circuit I Capacitor Control Circuit I
I dont recomend armor rigs - they make you go slower:P
Ogre II x5 Hammerhead II x5 Hobgoblin II x5 (can use sentry for webbing battery)
Only problem will be missions with webbing batteries like SUPRICE where batteries are 100km away from you. But besides that its fun to do missions, just watchout for respawns so you wont lose your drones. |

Doing lvl4's in an ishtar is just way too easy. A simple perma running dual rep tank can do it.
Forgot the exact setup but it had a named cap baterry and some eutetics.
I could tank most missions on easymode wit this ( just grab aggro from everything and get a cup of coffee ). |

Just did unotherized military presence (angle version) and was very easy... is this to be expected or is this just an easy one. my dual rep tank did very very well. would be nie ro go a little faster but was still very doable :)
thanks for all the fitting tips i am running 250mm compressed coil for agro salvager drone range link named 10mn ab 3x cap recharger II 1x large cap battery II 3x harders 2x medium reps
very happy with this.. going to try and upgrade my second rep to another 'Meditation' to drop my cap usage farther hopeiung to be able to bring the fitting down enough to free a mid slot
Is this a typical mission or a normal cake walk mission?

i use
HIGHS- ion blaster 2 salvagers 2 tractor beams
MEDS- domi afterburner 2 cap rechargers 1 drone tracking thingy 1 drone mwd thingy
LOWS- dark blood medium repper 2 mission hardeners and a energized nano abdaptive thingy and a 1600 plate just as a buffer just in case of issues
RIGS- 2 ccc
(this load out in tech 2 works fine just harder to fit but its not that expensive tbh)
i know i have the plate but having 2 to 3 k armour doesnt leave room for mistakes and i use cap rigs because i dont want to slow down any more plus u dont need amour rigs as the only thing hitting u is missles
with this load out i can outrun 99.9 of ncp ships the fast ceptors will pop real quick with sentrys and lights it all perma runs
all i do is orbit at 60km (with HG snakes u orbit at just under 1000 ms but still works ok without) agress everything launch drones blast enough of the spawn then travel in and start salvaging while the drones finish off the spawn i can salvage at the same rate as my drones kill everything(orbit at 2 km dont appotch because if u lag out after salvage u just zoom off and not sit there and die)
Load out 2
HIGHS- 3 named 220 auto cannons (cap and cpu are need for other stuff)
MEDS- 4 large shield extender 2s and one invun field
Lows- 5 Shield rechargers the ones that take cap amount not shield
RIGS - 2 Shield recharge rigs
i get about 240 recharge a second or something with massive resists to most missions other then laser rats but they dont hit crap anyway
all load outs have 5 light 5 meds 5 heavys 5 sentry drones i agress everything with hac lvl 4 and jamming drones and theres another skill i cant remeber u can get drone range to 75 km and my locking range is 76km so thats pucker
theres not one mission i havent done with these ships most are semi afk u just have to watch your drones on respawn just bring them back agress new spawn and relaunch

Edited by: Heelay Ashrum on 05/05/2008 13:46:32 you can both armor tank or shield tank it. Since a ( good ) armour tank was already suggested ill suggest you a passive shield tank setup:
hi: 2x salvager's, 2x tractor beams, 1x civilian hybrid ( just for aggro )
med: 1x T2 hardener, 1x domination inv field ( lesser cap usage), 3x LSE ( as more T2 your CPU allow, others: best named)
low: 5x SPR2 ( or 4x SPR2 + DC2 if you have cap problems)
rigs: shield amount and rec
the passive tank setup have stronger tank than the dual rep ( not much tho) , but imho your best bet depend who you fight most. If you fight Sashas or Blood Raiders go for Armour setup, if you fight Angels go for passive shield setup, if you fight gurista or serpentis, they are almost equivalent.
and do not forget sentry drones ....

Have only done a few level 4's now but tank is certainly not the problem, i sujest you fly an ishtar before you recomend the domi if hts the same damage then i prefer the ishtar as it moves faster looks sexier.

Some others and I were discussing the possibility of speedtanking l4's in an ishtar the other day. We came up with the following (not claiming this is a good idea, discussion was/is just for the lulz really):
Hi:
Whatever (Drone links, aggro gun, etc.)
Med:
4x Cap Recharger II 1x 100mn Afterburner II
Lo:
1x Medium Armor Repairer II 3x Overdrive Injector System II 1x Nanofiber Internal Structure II
Rigs:
2x Polycarbon Engine Housing I
2617 m/s.
None of us discussing this have ever tried it or anything like it.
Is this a viable idea for l4 missions? Maybe with fancy AB/Overdrives/Implants for extra speed?
