I'm sure you Candidates are all passionate players, love the game, have great fun, have helped many noobs in the past and so forth. All of which is commendable, and those things help make EvE the great game it is.
But I won't be voting because I don't believe in the need for a CSM entity -- and no flame intended -- but it's bureaucracy, and this is just a game.
I respect that many other players feel there is a need, or are at least willing to give it a chance for various reasons I don't share -- and I respect that, but personaly, "no thanks".
Just expressing my opinion.

I understand that you don't have a lot of faith in CSM.
Personally I can have my doubt too. Hence why I'm running, so that I can make a difference, and maybe give some of the nay-sayers a nice suprise. |

youre not the first expressing his doubts, and i would be a liar if i say i have not own doubts.
Respect for choosing words that are not insulting the candidates that intend to give it a try and ignore their doubts for now.
time will tell where this is heading.
Not to vote is a legitimate democratic choice you can make.
But as usual, it may also support the wrong person indirectly.
** should the CSM be able to make a difference, then indirect or direct support of the "wrong" candidates may have an inpact too in this case a "wrong" impact
..who is wrong? difficult to say. I am just sure that i am right recruiting -forum

There is no right and wrong... there's only my way and the other way. ;)

I think this at least worth trying out though. A council that represents the players of EvE can't be a bad thing. If their wishes are ignored by CCP then this will just make it show more clearly than if CCP just ignore the wishes of the endless development posts on this forum. If CCP actually work with the council then great!
I want to vote but the real names of the people are on the voting page, and I have been following their 'other' names. Am I just missing something, or do I really need to go back through and choose them based on their portraits? |

Good words with good intentions, ladies and gentlemen, but allow me to point out an example of one of your fellow Candidate's approach, to the role of the CSM, that I find distasteful.
The following quote is from the recent thread concerning the issue(s) of High-Sec ganking, insurance payouts to the gankers, revising the criminality of said ganking, etc., etc..
Originally by: Goumindong
Originally by: LT Stryker This sounds like you want to debate the issue amongst yourselves. My understanding was that the CSM was suppose to listen to what the player community debated (in-game and in the forums), and then present the best option to CCP.
Can any Candidates summarize what has been already debated in the forums and explain why they think one fix would be better/fairer than the others?
There hasn't been a consensus on the forums. But remember, its also the CSMs job to apply judgment to decide what is valid and what isn't valid.
I take great issue with that assumption of authority to apply "judgment" from someone who is running for election, and what's more, I find it arrogant.
This is exactly the wrong kind of mindset for a CSM candidate to have and it's exactly the kind of presumptuous attitude that will do the game absolutely no good whatsoever.
I have no interest in passing my concerns through this kind of process -- that's what Petitions are for, so forgive me if I sound harsh but I don't pay my $$$ every month to have another player pass "judgment" on what I might consider a valid issue to be addressed directly to CCP and the GM's who actually have the authority to make "judgment".
So, once again, "no thanks".

So CSM needs to forward every lame idea and gripe now? Im not sure if you've been reading the forums lately, but every other thread is an irrational whine (not to say that some whines dont have their merits). I think that its very important that CSM can pass "judgement" on whats important and whats not, otherwise the entire process will either grind to a halt or we will all wind up with ships that have 8/8/8 slot configurations with 99% resist to all... or worse still, everything will be nerfed to hell.
I think that my Ibis should be able to solo that carrier over their, and my mission rats should start droping officer loot! Look at me!!! I consider these "valid issue to be addressed directly to CCP"!!!
Stop acting so entitled, and pull your head out of your butt. At worst, CSM will do nothing, and at best it will help the community to have a direct link to CCP. Might as well vote, because you arent going to stop this train... Its already gone. ------------------------------------------------------------------

you do realize that by not voting at all, youre automatically helping the wrong one thus speeding up your 'self-fulfilling prophecy'?
the "no thanks" would be valid if all candidates would be like the one you quoted, but that is fortunately not the case.

I would ask you to consider using your vote to abstain to show ccp your displeasure.
