Dear CCP,
according to this interview with Matt Woodward, faction warfare is announced for this summer.
The temperatures are rising outside, the summer seems to be already here, yet we don't see any detailed infos on factional warfare, although we are very excited about the few things we heard so far.
My question: is summer 2008 still a realistic date for this expansion, or will it be delayed ?
Can we please have a devblog, interview or some other kind of announcement on this and a few more details ?

This is a pure guess, but looking at the current build number for Multiplicity (5.1.54531) I'd like to suggest it is on schedule. -----

Book
Given that the book and expansion are closely tied in with eachother, and that CCP are working with a global book publisher, I'd guess that staying on schedule is quite important.
I have no inside info, just a hunch :)

It could be very accurate indeed. If it is very closely tied to the book we can put together some details, to perhaps create some evidence.
1) The last Singularity mirror was on the 22nd. It was expected to last 3-4 weeks. 2) A massive jump in build numbers appears 2 and a half weeks into that period on Multiplicity. 3) Trinity was on Singularity for about a month. (Correct me if I'm wrong.) 4) ??? 5) PROFIT! -----

I wouldn't count on the expansion being June 19th, only the book. After all, we all need time to read it before we dive into FW
(Again, hunch)

Are you Gordon Brown? I hear he likes u-turns.
Contradictory hunch contradicts hunch, perfectly wrecking for over 9000 damage.
(That's how I read it, anyway...) -----

Nah, I was just saying that the expansion will be soon after the book, but not necessarily the same day. I'm not CCP, nor do I speak for them. I'm sure they'll announce the exact date when they are good and ready.
And if I was Gordon Brown, I'd anounce free Chocolate Hob Nobs for all.

Book and Factional warfare, scheduled for June/july 2008
When it comes to Ambulation it should hit online next year.
So my guesses for expansions for eve are like this:
Factional warfare: June/july 2008 gfx update, part II: november 2008 (CCP always have some kind of publish around Fanfest) Ambulation: summer or November 2009
Just my guess.

How about we just forget about all expansions until the lag is fixed. I can't believe we're considering putting in factional warfare without implementing the supercomputer solution first. --------------------------------------------- Official US ambassador to the UK.

Lag and expansions are handles by two completely different departments. There will always be a creative department and one bugfix department. Sorry. But mixing personell from these departments never works.

Throwing more people at a software project will not improve its speed.
They're working on it. The lag solution will not come from HPC or Infiniband (though they will help quite a bit). It will come when the mechanics favor deployment of 5 gangs with 50 people each rather than a 250 man blob. All HPC will do is raise the number of people that can simultaneously fight from X to X + N.
Besides, I've worked with the kind of people who do low-level server development, and the kind of people who do Content Development. Content people are great guys, but you do not want them ANYWHERE NEAR your vital code. -------------------- ICE Blueprint Sales FIRST!! -Yipsilanti Pfft. i think Factional warfare will be fairly late in July at best. Ambulation will be sometime in September, there are interviews and dev responces which say that its prity much finished. GFX update II: whenever they feal like it. fun ambulation (with killing): sometime next year.
now, what happend to planatory interaction/flight, and eve mobile?

Edited by: Armoured C on 09/05/2008 08:23:06 they cant fix lag even with these imporvements since they will just have more people
it would in theory fix it to a certian point until we suddendly have 1000 v 1000 cap blob infested carrier fights
i would hate to be called primary there
which of course ever happens must be frapsed and put on evetube

Don't forget that since the novel ties in quite a lot with Factional Warfare, it was delayed until the novel was ready after all, they're going to wait a bit to introduce FW until people have had time to read the book. That'll give people time to build up ideas and make plans before it's unleashed on us.
Maybe that way we won't have to wait weeks/months before people know what to do with the new stuff and many people can dive right in. That's my hope anyway.
