I have found a large concentration of chinese isk farmers in a constellation. They're all created at the same date (varying from 4 too 2 months ago), are either a noob corp or a isk farmer support corp (<TIAK> and <132>) and do all other things which makes me believe they're farmers. I try to scan them down, tackle them and such, but they are a quite good at warping away, cloaking, etc etc. Now, i was wondering if i can report them to CCP and if this actually matters. All they have to do is trace their isk transfer logs and eventually market logs (the last will be a pain i guess) to find where they transfer their money. Will this do some good? Alternatively, are there any ideas how to annoy them as hell (i already break their rat chains, which they aren't too happy about)?

Yes, petition under rules and policies. CCP will investigate and trace isk tranferts.
If they are player farmer doing that for the corporation or themselves and they aren't selling isk nothing will happen, if they are isk sellers after some time you will see the whole group disappearing. The time can be long as it is not so easy to trace isk transfers and get the whole structure (banning them 1 at a time will have no discernible effect) but it will happen.

I really hate this kind of disinformation that people spread. Please, please, please report every instance of isk selling or macro mining you find. The reason people always reply with some off the cuff remark of "Thats good in theory but CCP never do anything!" or "Our logs don't show anything" is because they want immediate results.
Unfortunately for them there are paper trails to follow and procedures to be gone through before we ban people for macromining, RMT, etc. The best analogy is to imagine it as a giant jigsaw; each time someone reports a seller or bot it allows us to put another piece of the puzzle in place. Sometimes it's a side piece allowing you to track down a whole slew of other pieces, sometimes it's just a bit out in the middle of nowhere that has no connection to the rest, as yet. Needless to say, all the reports are pieces in the jigsaw, and if some people weren't so stupid as to constantly tell people that CCP does nothing about them, the jigsaw would be completed a lot sooner.
Of course, it's an ongoing battle, so once this jigsaw is complete, there's another to be finished, but such is the way of the world.

I just really dislike how it's always 'chinese gold farmers' or 'chinese isk farmers' with absolutely no proof what nationality they are and how loosely the term is banded around accusingly so much in so many games.

Finally a CCP employee with a healthy attitude, Go Atropos!! Woho!! \o/
I constantly tell people, who ask what they should do when they run into macros/farmers, to petition it. Maybe someone in CCP should put together a list of the important things that the petition should contain to make it easier and more helpful to the macro/farmer/RMT hunters.

Bayes Theorem, which relates the probability of two apparently independant random occurances based on observations of their occurance, suggests that given a high observed probability of chinese players being isk farmers and a relatively moderate probability of a player being chinese, there is a high probability of farmers being chinese. When compared to the same probability for non-chinese players, it's possible to show that the generalisation is true. Maybe he wasn't being a bigot, just a bit of a mathemagician.

Whether they are chinese or not I don't think is the issue it is the way the term is used which could quite effectively be communicated without the assumed nationality.

I report every single RMT advert in local. Why? Because it's the proper thing to do. Be proactive in helping rid Eve-o of these cheaters, Don't say "Someone else will report it" or "CCP will do nothing anyway"
If you know someone that bought ISK, report them too.

I am serious, being diligent in your action of reporting isk spammers in local and isk buyers is a good step in the right direction.

Edited by: Ottman on 10/05/2008 16:46:51 its so freaking easy the solution, trial accounts have to be limited, no trade, no isk transfers and then the never ending stream of 14 day trial accounts selling isk in eve will dissapear. the only way of selling isk will be linking websites then and that can be followed more easy then, less work for ccp, less frustration for us players.

Genuine players that are creating a second account can wait the 15 days until their 1st 1 month paid subscription comes through, it's not that big a deal.

Thinking before posting is a good idea. No trade = using the noob frigate for 14 days, great way to get new costumers. And no new skills, no ammunitions, ecc.
Gealbhan, you are even better, you idea of a trial account is a easy tool to get 14 extra free day when you start a alt. And then you call yourself a "genuine player". Pfft.

So you're saying that a new player will never be able to make his/her own isk without outside help? Wrong! It can be done, it's being done daily. So maybe you should think too, before you post this stupid again?
Edit: before you post "no trade means not using the market", you're wrong again...

Where you think I will buy the frigate? And no trade mean exactly NOT USING THE MARKET.
No sell, no buy, no contract. If you or your friends/alts means something different explain it, but your worlds means exactly that.

Um, trial accounts cant do that anyway. I dunno about item-trading but they cant do trading with isk. They can't transfer isk, they can't do contracts...
If you're talking about denying them access to the Market, you may as well just remove trial accounts since they'd never be able to get out of their Velator or Ibis. -- Ralara / Ralarina |

I'm guessing peoples apathy towards reporting this comes hand-in-hand with receiving exactly ZERO feedback for thier efforts.
Have you considered handing out 'gold stars' (ie some sort of useless, yet tangible, reward) to people who report these guys? If handed out something down the line when these people were banned then at least those people reporting them would know they are not just wasting their breath.
Not only that, but you'd likely have people trying to gather as many 'gold stars' as possible, even though they serve no purpose.
It wouldn't take you much time, and you'd be giving feedback to the players who take their time to look for these folks.

…oh, and a regexp filter for chat and EVEmail that's continually updated with the latest sites. Kill their advertisement stream and force them to use far more direct (or far more indirect) ways of peddling their crap. Both would improve the situation immensely (well, at least it would improve my situation…)

And then they create a new trial account and start all over again... seems like nothing but a waste of time from our perspective, care to prove otherwise to the playerbase?
