So guys, help me out.
I recently got TOTALLY hooked on rage against the machine. I got their 3 albums, and they rock biiig time. There is not a SINGLE of one of their tracks, which I don't fancy.
Sadly, RATM is dead. So no more albums, as far as I understand.
So do anybody know some nice alternatives, in the same style?

Dead? hmm must be my mistake when i read they were playing at the reading festival this year. Linkage
Edit: although playing gigs and writing new albums are different, I really hope they do start writing and recording again... anyone know more? ------------------------------------------- Voted "Best" |

you want same style like music-wise or message-wise?
well, check out audioslave. not sure its really the same style but it will sound somewhat familiar as most of the band members went there except zach. (but then chris did his thing and they broke up too).
worth checking out though, audioslave had a good sound.
if you want a more **** the system thing.. go check out System of a Down. Couple shades of gray darker and more hardcore than Rage, but damn good band (and still together ). They are on some kinda break for the foreseeable future so don't look for any new albums for at least a couple years i'd guess ------------------------------ of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most |

You into the heavy music or the social message? (Or both?)
Check out Dead Kennedys for punk with a statement, or Fear Factory for some heavy duty music (I got into Fear Factory around the same time I was listening a lot to Bullet In The Head, Bombtrack etc.)

Both. Mostly the heavy music I guess, the social message is just a bonus!

I miss my RATM collection, a very large chunk of the tracks simply don't want to play anymore. -----

Well I just had to laugh at some of that list : Limp Bizkit, Alien Ant Farm, Linkin Park all stand out as "you have to be joking".... oh come on!! Madonna has got more in common with RATM that AAF or Limp . BTW, the reason why RATM break up so often and get back together for Festivals is that the lead singer cant stand the guitar player but they both love the money. So, when they are not playing bankrolls, sorry I mean festivals, they wont even talk. But I could be wrong

Listening to rage against the machine made me start playing bass, I can play probably every Ratm on the bass, took me months of practicing to get some of the bass solo's down, they are playing in dublin for the oxygen festival i think might go and see them.

I fixed the links in my post above. I did them in haste yesterday and realized today that they were dead links on my side. I went ahead and switched the Killswitch video since I was able to find my favorite song by them.
Here a few other heavy songs with good intentions...
Hatebreed - Perseverance and I Will be Heard
Suicidal Tendencies - You Can't Bring Me Down - This one is a little Old School but what the Hell!!!
ONXY and BIOHAZARD from the Judgement Night Soundtrack which is one of the greatest soundtracks of all time in my book
BIOHAZARD - Sellout
Bad Brains - RISE and for a little live flavor Bad Brains Live in Holland.
And if you really want to venture back into the halls of what ultimately lead into the realms of Punk, Harcore, Thrash, Metal with alot of flavore from , jazz, funk, rock, and reggae. Really look further into Bad Brains. Bad Brains are, in my most honest opinnion, one of the greatest, most influential, and underated bands of our times. Unfortunately like many others, the band was stricken with ego and what not so they saw many incarnations. HR is the one signifying member of Bad Brains and quite honestly one of the coolest mother f-ers I have ever had the honor to meet.

After seeing this thread again, I played Audiosurf with Bullet In The Head as a track. I'd strongly recommend it!
