First and foremost: Repair drones - should you be able to repair yourself if your using them? Would you push for this? Why/Why not?
Second: Hull repair drones. Are you for or against. Why/why not? Would you actively advocate for/against them? Do you think CCP might just be being lazy about them?
Last: If you support either of these, realistically, do you think you could convince CCP to implement them.

Before this starts I should mention I am an avid drone user..
first q: I like the fact that all drones work on things other than yourself. I see no issue with keeping it that way. Allowing repair drones to effect yourself means all you need to do is launch and repair and from that point on not worry about them unless they are getting shot at. By keeping them only able to effect other entities, you need to actively manage them (to a degree), much like armour/shield/hull reppers need to be actively managed due to cap considerations.
second q: I think CCP just haven't introduced them, no real reason not to.
last q: If you raise it as an issue and enough people support it so that it gets to CSM, I'll try my best. ----------------------

I think it's an interesting dynamic having them the way they are; we already have armor repairers you can fit on your own ship to repair yourself anyway. Just one more reason to play in a group (or at least a pair) rather than solo.

It would make for a pretty powerful convenience particularly in the more isolated areas of space. Not sure what I think of that really, although on a personal level I don't mind the status quo; running around in a ship with some structure damage following a close fight does give that battle-scarred feeling.

Letting drones rep yourself would circumvent the penalties associated with repair units and should not be allowed. Especially since many ships have spare drone bay.
There might be a problem with hull rep drones. But I am not sure. If they were as strong as armor rep drones it might be an issue for RR type gangs. Since it would unify fitting between armor and shield tankers easily.

I don't understand what your saying. How does having repair drones not able to affect yourself require you to manage them? Isn't it more like, since they can't repair you, you don't manage(use) them at all? lol

I don't think so - its a standard tank vs. gank argument. Reppers take up power/cpu/cap/low slots which could otherwise be used for bigger, better weapons while repair drones you would give up space and bandwidth that could otherwise be used for damaged dealing drones (admittedly you can carry both - but you can't use 5 of each at the same time, just makes switching a little easier.)

One of the disadvantages of a passive tank is that you cannot repair yourself, you must dock and pay, dock while owning the station, or get someone else to do it for you.
And while drones can do a lot of damage the damage they do do, is much less than would be returned capless via repair drones on a proper setup except on drone ships.

what i mean is, when you are running an active tank, you need to manage your capacitor or fit your ship so that you can run the repairers indefinitely. Having the drones do it for you means you can set & forget them and you have an instant tank with no drawback for most ships as the fire-power gained for any ship other than the drone specific ships is very minimal.
Under the current system if you use repair drones on other people it requires some management as you need to actively target them at someone else and send them off to repair them and then swap them onto another target as needed.
