Knowing full well that theyre not very good. Still, it was only 5 mill and i figured at that price i might as well give it a whirl.
I wasn't expecting much, cos i know the PG got nerfed and it seems to suffer from pretty poor cap compared to the other inty's. So I played around abit and this is what i came up with.....
3x 75mm Rail II w/ Spike, Standard Launcher II (with AWU V, otherwise use named)
1MN MWD II, WDII, Cap Charger II
2x OD II, Nano II
Puts out a massive 55DPS (LOL) at 24km, the railguns optimal range. Sadly it's not cap stable with everything running. Can do MWD+Point or Guns+Point, but not all 3.
So, is this a good setup on a bad ship or a bad setup on a bad ship?
Answers on a postcard.

You could try replacing the missile launcher with a cloak or a rocket launcher, and then you'd be able to fit a cap booster instead of a recharger. Javelin rockets have a similar range to the 75mm railgun with spike but cost you 500m/s or so, depending on what you do with the low slots; if you're carrying cap boosters, you probably don't want the 15% cargo penalty from overdrives.
If you wanted a bit more dps, you could fit an MAPC and upgrade to 125mm rails. My research services Spreadsheets: Top speed calculation - Halo Implant stats |

Switch to faction long range charges and a best named disruptor. Your cap will be much better off and while you lose a bit of range on the disruptor you get that back when you overload as needed. Overloading the t2 one is a a moot point unless you fit a sensor booster.

If you want to fight other intys then use a Crow as thats its intended role. The Raptors role is to perma tackle pretty much anything you want safely out of BS nuet range with the warp disruptor range bonus. Fitting guns on it is just a waste of grid and cap as its not meant to be a damage dealer.

If this were true why did CCP add a third turret bay to it (admittedly, at the same time that they nerfed the PG)?
I guess it's a bit like telling someone that you bought them a free lunch, only it's in a different country. It sounds great on paper, but in reality it's just a stupid idea..

Just only use your guns vs drones/other interceptors. If you need interceptor DPS then something has gone horribly wrong. Perma running the mwd + pt at 28km is your job.

Ah, good. Because that never happens.

Sadly, like most of Caldari rail ships, its job is better done by a Gallente counterpart.
Raptor is great for anti-ceptor work. Throw some 75s on there, web, warp disrupt, and pound away.
Crow does this better though.. and is faster.. and you dont have to care about transv, and a better tank...
yeah. -----------------------------------

Blasters and Rockets are my weapons of choice for Raptors these days and they seem to work rather well. Inferior to a blaster Taranis of course, but not nearly as useless as a lot of people would think. -------------------- "I am hard pressed on my right; my centre is giving way; situation excellent; I am attacking." - Ferdinand Foch at the Battle of the Marne |

Fit it with blasters/rockets, just to shoot up drones that are chasing you. Small/micro (good luck getting your hands on one...) cap boosters are a good addition to a ceptor. Lows, go OD/nano/signal amp, or OD/OD/signal amp and 2x polys (or nano/nano/SA, 2x aux thrusters if your cheap)
keep in mind the idea is to run a point at 28 ish km without getting killed. Out of web range, out of neut range, and have some dps to kill off drones that are chasing you. That is your role in a raptor.

LOL at the idea of fitting over 100mills worth of polys to a 5 mill intercepter btw.
