I've already got a good setup for the raven I'm working on, but I'm not sure what kind of drones I want for it. I'm either doing 3 heavy attack drones, 3 heavy armor maintenance bots, or a mix of the two. Which should I do here? Why not 5 drones? Using 2 Heavy - 2 med - 1 light is a better combo. Also: for what role? Join the Biggest Greek Corp! www.Mythos-eve.com - Join Mythos Channel in game!

If its PvP, I'd go ECM Drones. If its PvE, I'd go 5 Medium and 5 Light. ------------------------------------------------ Either pick a dry year when fighting wars or civilize the moronic races and have no wars at all! |

Dreadful plan, they will all arrive at the target at different times, like drones aren't hard enough to control already!

Drones for a Raven, I'd go defensive so;
5 x Warrior II 5 x Vespa EC-600 __________________________________________

Edited by: Psiri on 19/05/2008 13:29:36 Depends on what you're doing and how you're fitted. For a solo PvP raven that hasn't got a webber installed, gogo web-drones. If it does have a webber or is in a gang, then go ECM drones. If noone in the gang can handle nanos and intys very well, go with Warrior II's.
- If you're doing missions, hammerhead II's.

for pvp, if you use torps, you could also go with a mix of tp and ecm drones, using 2 heavy TP drones, 2 EC-600 and 1 EC-300 on my pvp torp raven, it sacrifices a bit on the ecm side, but 2 heavy tp drones means I don't have to fit a tp in mids (2 heavy tp drones actually give more sig radius bonus than 1 tech2 TP)

2X Ogre, 2X Hammerhead, and 1X Hobgloblin is (or should be) the standard loadout for the Raven's bandwidth.
Yes they all arrive at different times, but this has nothing to do with their difficulty to control. I have noticed that the hobgloblin does often get aggroed I think because it tends to overshoot because of its speed. Or the annoying way it orbits compared to the other drones in the above mentioned group.
The same loadout is also optimal for the Vexor and the Myrmidon. The drones work fine in that combo. It is painful to watch how slow the Ogres are but I havent trained Drone Navigation. I also need to train Drone sharpshooting. I'm new to drones.
All Hammerheads MIGHT kill swarming frigs faster but if they are swarming then they are all in the same place so the slowness of the Ogres is negated.
Again, not an expert but I use idea given to me by forum warriors.
ECM drones have been called "overpowered". Well thats a good sign so I would consider them in PvP. Web drones have been called underpowered.
Of course minnie drones, Warrior IIs, are the fastest drones, 5K/sec base speed, and are considered anti nano drones. If a ship is traveling too fast for them to catch, the nano ship isn't hurting anyone.

hey, thanks for all the information. To answer this question, my intent with this Raven is to head out in 0.0 space, possibly some PvP. -------------------------------------------- "I don't mind being called a liar when I'm about to lie, when I lying, or just finished lying, but not when I'm telling the truth!" - Homer Simpson |
