Edited by: Yovinss on 20/05/2008 00:23:16 I personally just are and could never be the type to join 3 or 5 or more and sit on .4 or lower gate and wait for anything such as a frigate or even a Battleship to come flying through, then only to blast it into pieces then to destroy the poor guys pod?
Unreal to my thinking. I can only ponder the loser weak arse individual thats so gutless to get or derive power from it. Hmmmmm.
Oh wait I just got it, to lazy to earn things or Isk in game. Oh and just to qualify for them its just a game. Well then have fun.

It's like... when you're waiting in your van with some other guys outside an old rundown building in the rain, it's 11:42pm, it's a little windy. A guy slowly opens a back door into the ally and that's the signal. You all leap out, pull out your sledgehammers and smash him before slipping in through the door and taking all his stuff.
On the way out you take his shoes.
It's sort of like that.

What you're describing is more common in 0.0, although gate camps certainly occur in Low Sec as well. It isn't always about looking for an easy kill, it's also a strategic military move and/or a way of acquiring the items and cargo of careless or just unlucky victims. Like a corp mining op it's a lot more fun if you're drunk.

Who the **** are you to tell me or others how to have fun in Eve? Next time use a scout or at least tank and warp stab your indy when hauling through low sec.

There's so many macroers in Low Sec that some people get careless and don't break from their ratting to find a safespot when people enter system. If you don't do that then you're going to get pirated.
But in 0.0 there aren't really any macro couriers running about outnumbering the local active player population 5 to 1 like is the case in Verge Vendor, Metropolis and who knows where else. For this reason it's harder to catch people in 0.0 belts since nobody will just hang out when others arrive in the system (unless they're like me and don't want to break from killing that faction BS .) But anyway the lack of people in belts is another reason why people gate camp instead.

Edited by: Faife on 20/05/2008 00:51:21 me and few people once tried to go after a camp way over our size (we were frigate roaming) and when they saw us jump in, they all ran with a "fail at blobbing guys" in local. guess they were thinking we were just some vanguard of a much larger force or something.
not that i blame them. spend long enough in eve and you'll assume that everything larger than you is trying to kill you, everything smaller is bait trying to kill you. paranoia is part of the game

I've had to do it a couple of times, it's not my idea of fun. But sometimes, just sometimes, you'll pod a whiny little ***** like you and then it's worth it. There's nothing funnier in eve than some guy who just lost his internet spaceship making himself feel better by thinking the guy that did it is some social reject. Scratch that, there's one thing better, a guy who lost his internet spaceship who makes himself feel better by posting on the forums how the guy that did it is some social reject.

Yet another noob loses a ship to a simple tactic (gate camping). If gate campers are so simple, where does that put you? Bellum Eternus

I misread the topic and thought it was about people who break up gate camps. That's even more boring than gate camping as at least gate campers get to shoot at things. Try breaking up a camp and watch them all run for the station when you are still two systems out :( -

Edited by: Yovinss on 20/05/2008 02:48:58 Heck I wasnt hauling anything, I was just passing through, wont name the gate- and yeah when you and 4 others are sitting cloaked then use analogy of being in a tank and killing someone with a sword -yeah its a bit lame. All Im stateing it I personally wouldnt find one bit of joy in seeing my ship and 4 others blow away a ship that has no chance.
Oh well each to there own.

FYI this is Eve's motto. I heard that CCP spells it out in gasoline and sets it alight before every game development meeting. Misuse of the word "there" is even retained.

Gatecamping is a relaxing activity that lets me chat with my buds on TS until you come along, and then we have 15 seconds of adrenalized awesomeness while you rage at your computer screen miles away. It's a blast.

Gatecamping is a necessary tactical/strategic job in any system below 0.5 sec, if you want to have some control over the area.
It also helps fix your killboard stats
It's also a good way to de-stress if you've had a few days of pos warfare
The main thing about a gatecamp is that you can't let anything through. That t1 frig or shuttle could contain a 10-billion isk T2 BPO whose destruction could cause your enemies a great deal of pain. I was once in a camp in catch that caught a shuttle with a HEL bpc in it.
I can only ponder the loser weak arse individual who gets caught in a gate-camp and has to go running to the forums to make juvenile assumptions about his killers psychological makeup.

Dude - are you for real? You lost a ship right? Then DONT FREAKIN JUMP INTO LOWSEC WITHOUT A SCOUT FOR CRYING OUT LOUD. You aren't going to lose a ship in lowsec unless you do something really, really stupid or pick a fight.
In any case, lowsec piracy isn't exactly the fast track to wealth. Most of those guys do it because they just like killing people.
As for gate camping, there is a hell of a lot more to gate camping than pirates sitting on a lowsec gate... Do you, like, not have ANY idea what goes on out in 0.0 space or what?

'Just passing through'? Well, your opponents were 'just camping a gate'. You failed to check the starmap for any previous kills, amount of people in that system, and so forth. You didn't even scout!
