So guys. As you might be aware, the market discussion FINALLY got a voice!
The market and industry, in general, haven't got too much love. It's my intent to make sure CCP knows what is wrong, and how to fix it.
It's my intention to, over the next 2-3 weeks, to assemble a big list of all the 1) Bugs 2) Issues and 3) Ideas, for making our beloved market, even better! I will, once CSM flies to Iceland, assemble the things in a nice format, print it out in 2 copies(Or whatever it will take), and drop off a bit of industry love, at Oveur and Hammerhead's desk, for them to read and understand.
It's my hope that a comprehensive list, which is easy to go over, is our best bet to get heard in a way, where we will make it onto a patch note!
I thus ask you to just list EVERYTHING that comes to mind, which would increase your game play experience.

Some form of secure shares sale/transfer. Even if it is something as simple as making shares an item and being able to bundle them into a contract.

CCP hears us. They just choose to put us at the bottom of the pile. Going over there won't change anything except their needing to pretend to address your issues until you are gone.
Grats for CSM but the main reason I chose not to go for it was because I felt this whole thing was a PR stunt by CCP.
Anyway, I hope I am wrong. Quitting smoking again so been a bit chitty the past week or three

Congratulations on getting on the council.
Fixing that Double Vote Implementation bug would be nice.... Removing the NPC sold modules entirely would also be nice. Get that all over to the player manufacturing base. Except for NPC goods, if it's usable by the players it should be built by the players (towers and pos modules anyone?). Insurance - remove NPC based insurance make it mostly player based.
Some depth to T1 manufacture would be nice - not going to the extent of T2 with moon mud, but having ship manufacture components and stuff would deepen the manufacturing stuff a bit without driving it completely off the edge.

Estimated NAV based on wallet and items in lockdown for public corporations, a check box in the corp mgt that allows that to be published to the corp info window.
And yeah as Shar said.. a secure way to transfer shares, or even to just allow them to be bought and sold on the market much like bearer bonds. |

You don't have any trouble transferring isk, with the shaking hands and all that (nicotine fix)? ;-)
@La Vista Vista Check with your fellow CSM members and see which issues overlap, if you concentrate on those issues, you might have more of a chance to get them through.

Here's a very small but curious issue I'd like brought up. Essentially, I wonder if it would be possible to have pos "slot" usage be directly billed from the corp member's wallet. A setting perhaps on the assembly line. (Not sure if this is really a market issue, just one of them things that always made me go hmmmmm.) |

Remove ingame insurance. Let it be player organised operated by player owned insurance companies.
Of course this can only work if CCP can implement an automatic killboard officially run by CCP.

Bid on contracts in other regions. So I dont have to go to jita. Dutch Auction contracts that can be accepted at any time (ie functions like an item exchange contract for the buyer), but the price goes down over time based on your parameters when setting it up.
Use pos lab's remotely from a station, with all the ingredients in the station, and output going to the station. Which could enable setting pos labs to public useage, without the problems of things needing to be in, and getting delivered to, corp hangers. Private jobs in poses (rather than all corp jobs). One corp hanger set for a whole pos (rather than one for the control tower, one for the corp hanger array, one for each lab, etc) Refule a pos remotely from any hanger in the pos. Launch a pos for self, rather than for corp.
Add faction, officer and deadspace modules and ships to market interface.
Skills to access markets remotely (from another region).
Private markets, only visable to people who know a password, or to an alliance, or to people with +ve standings.

Interesting idea.
I just took a quick look at the API details and it looks like this is something that we could build ourselves, if there is interest in doing so.
Then again, how useful is this information really? Wouldn't it just provide a false sense of security. |

From your lips to gods ear.
The only thing CCP needs to do is to fire those that 'pretend' to service this commnity. For way too long have they presided over mediocre performance and cronic customer service problems. (Not to mention employee abuses) We don't need a council... we need the customer service cancer that is riddled throughout CCP to be cut away, and a ounce of professionalism brought in.
Sorry Vista... I fear you are being taken advantage of by CCP. You will be nothing more than PR bandaid for CCP to point the finger at when (and lets face it... we all know it's coming) nothing changes.
I saw it all happen years ago with Everquest when SoE launched the class representative program. It flopped because power sensitive and closed mined executives couldn't STAND the idea that their customers had a better understanding of the game than they did. (That description remind you of anyone?)
Get ready for the upcoming CCP company line... "If the issue was important, the council would have brought it to our attention". It's only a matter of time.

LOL thats what you meant about side idea...
LVV
1) The ability to choose the corp wallet after engaged vs prior. Half the time I forget what wallet I'm in and may accidentally have the wrong one linked (I sell for my corp and for me(main corp is one corp wallet and mine is another corp wallet)
Basically instead of check box sell from X corp wallet, have the drop down with it so you can pick the right one if its not listed.
2) Have a part of courier contracts that sort by SIZE - I could not find it when I looked this week

Definately an area that could be prone to abuse. But then again so are most public offerings since it is a risk.
I feel however that it might add another layer of trust to true offerings. Since with the API everything could be verified or at least semi vouched for from a trusted third party.
IN essence think of it like an audit for the auditor.
Public company says "We are worth this and are earning this" Third party says "Yes this is true, they have done this and this" We look at the estimated NAV and breathe a sigh of relief |

Edited by: Cpt Fina on 22/05/2008 00:53:27 The following points are my personal hopes concerning the economy. I'm not saying that it'd be good for the economy overalll, infact many of my ideas would create allocation inefficiencies, allthough some are cruical to sort out inefficient actors. Actors that in Eve's current state can compete only because in many places market-darwinism has collapsed.
1. Increase tax and/or broker's fee overall and introduce new skill(s) for "professionals" to decrease it to current levels.
2. Introduce more barriers to entry for production such as economies of scale, abilities to form monopolies (not statutory ones though) and oligopolies, more sunk costs, increased means for distributor- and supplier-agreements (see point 7)
3. Separate players personal wallet from the businesspart. Players should have all their revenue and expenses entered into a separate wallet. When the player mines his own "free" minerals and adds it to the business-account for manufacturing, an amount based on a central databank of prices with price standards (or continously updated ones) will be withdrawn from that wallet and put into thir personal wallet.
Whether the player should be allowed to deposit liquid funds to this account or how often or for what cost can be discussed.
4. Ask CCP to what extent they want market power to have a role in Eve. If they're all for it then discuss stuff like branding, alltio i'm personally not sure that I'd want that.
5. Increase fixed costs overall for the different occupations in Eve.
6. Improve the means to read market statistics. Like a 60 days moving average price and the ability to watch trends in a 3-4 years retrospective.
7. Introduce "corpspecialization". One should be able to select a field at which ones corp can exceed in skill and thereby increase the need to interact with other corps. This will increase the need of corporational trade, the corps engaging in trade will also reap the benefits of comparative advantages. NPC-corps should get no benefits.
8. Decrease the overall productivity of players. We're seeing a trend where one manhour equals more minerals, cargo hauled ect. If other more efficient tools keeps getting introduced into the game the "todays battleship are like yesterdays frigates"-phenomenon (aka increased wealth) won't stop. If CCP want to preserve the idea that a shiploss should hurt they need to stop introducing more and more efficient industrial-tools or even start removing some.
I'll probably have a few more points to add if i get the time.

Share market !
Also, decouple shares from corps, so that corps can create new and destroy old financial instruments (with the appropriate costs and skills, or course). As it stands you have to create a new corp of you want to do a new stock/bond issue, and all those old expired bonds lying around in the database strikes me as untidy. You should be able to specify properties of a new financial instruments when created: like a short text description, or the ability of the issuer to forcably buy back all shares.
Scale economies.
I would echo Cpt Fina's comments above, about MUDflation of production and lack of specialisation on the economic side of things. EVE has a number of per-player limits (flying one ship at a time, slots on ships, implant slots). But none of them seem to be on the industrial side of things: once you have the skills and ISK, you can do it all, and change activities with very little friction (hmmm, do you think that's true ?) Blueprint-linked industrial implants (expensive implants "rigged" with blueprints)?

Your points are valid concerns. However, I find it improbable CCP originated this idea in a black box, unaware of it occurring in other games. Perhaps they will take steps to help it succeed where others have failed? Perhaps I am being over optimistic? Like all of us, I will be watching with interest.
Anyway, this is a time for celebration! Congratulations on CSM Vista!
