i think it must be really lonely for my guy to sit in his ship all day long with nobody to talk too. Wouldnt it be really interesting for him to have a crew to help him with his ship? Nothing complex they could work like agents. the bigger ship you have the larger crew. You recruit them baded on thier quality and thier special skills which in turn slightly advance your modules affectiveness on the battlefield. the higher quality the more the help. To make it fair you would have to become a more famous and wealthy pilot to sign better crew members and of course you would have to pay themfor thier services. So what do you guys think? Is it worth it?

Well, it has been suggested that crew should be worked into your own Eve story line. Many people have determined how many people could fit to one ship. I would suggest building a ships log of crew and placing responsibilities. This will be on you to be the role player. I know of lots of people who take this approach to crew activities. As for crew dev created? doubt that ever a possibility. Just start building a Captains logs and start creating your own crew. Maybe post your captains logs to the Roleplay page and see where it takes you? Who knows? stay in line of char and you could see your post make it to the devs story line?? Just my two cents.

The problem with this is... your pilot is inside a Matrix-like pod of goo. They can't come out and interact with the crew, so this won't combat his loneliness.
CCP has said before on several occasions, that anything larger than a Frigate does indeed have a crew of some number. But they have neglected giving that crew any stats for good reason. Since the 4 Races were given pods by the Jove, all the necessary ship functions were redirected to the pod and the hardwired pilot within. So the crew really just makes sure the lightbulbs aren't burnt out, and the toilets still flush. Otherwise, it'd be VERY complicated to start adding various crew compliments, ranging from illiterate slaves to Einstein and Hawkings in your engine room.
It's easiest to leave the crew as a background story, and let the spotlight stay on you and your skills at operating a ship.

So when I come walking out of my pod to go to the lounge (when that expansion is done) I will be dripping goo all over the floor? hmmm

it doesnt have to be that complicated, but if it is true that you have some kind of crew then it seems weird that they are NEVER brought up. If the crew was even just maintenance then they would still have some impact on the ship. Even if you had a pitstop like crew that got the ship ready for you its still something. The only change in gameplay i would propose is that they act similar to agents and slightly modify certain percentages and skills. As for the captains log, i might consider this.

Consider how many ships the average player goes through during their career. If each had an actual crew, and that crew worked in a fashion similar to an agent... what standing do you think you'd have by now? How many people would be jumping to work onboard any ship you fly, if you're renouned for getting ships destroyed. And that's not to say you suck at combat, but maybe you're the tackler in your fleet.
There are a few stories about crew members, and I think CCP mentioned crew size in the Ship Info once upon a time. But I still think with the way pods interface with the ship, in that all functions are mentally controlled, there isn't much a crew can do to help you out.
If you MUST feel that your crew is doing something... pretend your Armor Rep is really a buzzer telling them to run wild with hammers and duct tape!

yeah or maybe the crew are the ones throwing my missles at the other ships when I lock on. Look im bringing up a general idea, nothing crazy, maybe you can carry on your crew members to other ships, why cant THEY be encased in jelly (or whatever they fly in) also. You dont have to get so technical and critical im just bringing an idea to the table that has room for change. If you want to expand on it fine, but i dont see any reason why the idea would hurt gameplay. It could only make the piloting aspect somewhat more complex and interesting.

This seems to be something to be discussed after Ambulation, and the related content like those portable Captain's Quarters...until then i don't know what we can talk about Live and Let Die...All of it...null |
