Too bad that even with 19,519 people voting, that's only just under 5% of the 400,000 players. Since we have time in this election, I would like to encourage everyone to talk to your corp mates, both in player corps and npc corps, as well as chatting on local to encourage more voters to participate.
Given the number of people participating right now, it comes to show how a lot of players are either not paying attention to current events or are just not caring. Oh well. It's their loss as they won't have the right to complain should anything go wrong with the CSM7.
Didn't vote? Don't complain. Welcome to Eve Online. Don't expect people to be nice to you. |

CSM elections usually get a better turnout than most countries' federal elections. That's the true tragedy here. |

Nice to see the numbers up this election, I've seen more passion this time than ever.
I don't see how the power block numbers could be going up that much so it must be some of the players not usually involved in the voting. That would be simply fantastic.
Or it might just be the incredible charisma of SkipperMonkey!!

Aside from a big first day, the day-to-day increases are almost identical to last year. If that trend continues, we'll get a total of 60k votes this year compared to 50k last, i.e. a 20% increase. Not bad, but that would still be only about 1 in 6 accounts voting, though. |

Which is even less impressive when you consider that a LOT of people probably have two or more accounts.
Still, every vote counts, and as others have pointed out, it's better than IRL votes in some places. Shooting people in the face for fun and profit. Well, for fun, mostly. |

Until now, the only differences between this year and last were the big first day. The subsequent increases are tracking last year's with uncanny accuracy. If that continues, the improvement will have been entirely determined by the first day vote, i.e. about 11k better than last year.
This would be underwhelming, so I echo the sentiment: Let's get out the vote.

Mittens has probably spent the last 12 months registering 10.000 new trial accounts to assure his epic win this year. :D

Trial accounts are ineligible to vote until they have paid and reached 30 days of age. Buddy accounts are required to be 60 days old to prevent effectively "free" PLEX for buddy accounts from voting. CCP Diagoras - Like EVE stats? Follow me on twitter! |

I honestly feel if you have to bribe the members of eve who are also your peers in order to get their votes then you probably shouldn't be our CSM in the first place. If you know what you are doing that's good but at the same time my 5 year old daughter knows whats shes doing too. I would like to see someone get elected into the CSM position that is willing to actually listen to the members of the eve communities as well as CCP but without mocking either group. We are all intelligent people but not everyone is acting as a leader should. Change whats wrong with in the structure of the game first to make the playing experience better then fix the stupid stuff
If you want to be a CSM I think that's awesome but at the same time I would hope you would behave in a manner where the newer players can look up to you as well as the older players seeing you as a representative of all members not just representing the interest of special and or certain groups. As an older player myself I want a CSM who will do whats right and not go off doing stupid things just to draw attention to themselves to get their voices heard or gain votes. When I log into eve I don't really wanna see mails about a running candidate possibly offering bribes to the Incursion community in exchange for their votes. If you wanna offer bribes that's your business but I don't need multiple mails telling me you are doing so as in my opinion that makes you look desperate. If you wanna represent a certain type of eve community then let your actions ring out as a positive action instead of a joking or stupid move. |

The voting trend over the years is interesting. It looks like every year the turn out increases by a +10k voters that are really determined and vote on the first days of elections.
Can it be a sign of different player groups that become interested in CSM over the years?
Last time we had a turnout spike in the first 3 days of CSM elections, and it turned out to be due to 0.0 players. This time, where do the vote come from? EVE university? Generic hisec? Or other 0.0 groups?

7th March, 16:00: 19,519. CSM6: 8,740 - CSM5: 2,331 Too bad that even with 19,519 people voting, that's only just under 5% of the 400,000 players. CSM elections usually get a better turnout than most countries' federal elections. That's the true tragedy here.
Why not reserve access to "post" on any forum to those who have made the effort to vote or abstain (and before you complain abstaining is a voting choice) in the CSM voting system that way any one can read a forum post however, only a voter/abstainer will be allowed to comment constructively or gripe as is your want. In the traditional EVE way you make the effort you get the reward in this case you will have earned the right to comment. If you cant be arsed you loose the right! for 12 months. use it or loose it... |
