Short and sweet. Something should be done regarding logistics-fit ships that lurk at stations and remote-repair people who are fighting. These ships are nearly indestructible as they dock if shot at, then come back out again and continue. I've seen many neutrals that will do this simply for fun, though some also hope to get shot at so they can get in on the killmail too. Some corps that I know are especially adept at doing this with logistics-fit battleships - You fight one of them, then a second undocks in a remote repper and reps, so you shoot it, it docks, then another one comes out and continues, you shoot it, it docks too, then both of them undock in combat-fit battleships and blow you to pieces along with the guy they were repairing. The worst of these aren't even in the corp, so they're not wartargets to begin with. Yet if you can't drive them off, your target will kill you because you're webbed, scrambled, probably off-station, and the other guy has 6 large remote reppers plus logistics drones on him.
Simple problem, simple solution. Give remote logistics a combat timer so that you can't dock instantly once someone decides to shoot you; you'd have to wait like everyone else, giving your enemies a chance to deal with you.

It's impossible to avoid unless you are somehow able to always avoid every conflict at or around a station when in a high-sec war. There's always a chance that a neutral may decide to jump in and interfere, and they risk nothing by doing it even though they pretty much decide the battle. And you don't know they're going to do it until they do it, because nobody is psychic.

Edited by: Herschel Yamamoto on 28/05/2008 04:22:07 I've fought some highsec wars, and while hopping in and out of station is an aggravating tactic, at least you have the ability to shoot them for 30 seconds, which can let you kill them if they're not careful. I haven't faced anyone doing logistics around a station, but if it works the way you say it does, then this is certainly something that needs fixing. "You can't dock for 30 seconds following your most recent combat-related action" is the rule that needs to be in place. ------------------ Fix the forums! |

and you avoid that exactly how. Cause when the logistic is out of max range and warps in on range to the rep target there is not much you do about it expect jame or neut. But they just dock and undock again.

Having run into this myself (1 WT Abaddon, 1 neutral Domi smacktalking and repping... and loosing drones when I attempted to jam his double ECCM fitting, then having 2 guardians show up and join in repping the Abaddon) I am entirely for puttinging some real smackdown on neutrals getting involved in wars.
I'm for this: Neutral reps my WT... he immediately becomes a WT for the duration of the war. Not his corp (they're free to support him if my corp attacks him, with the same result), just the neutral. Or get CONCORD involved just like they do now if you rep an NPC. And give the guy a sec hit. Not as bad as suicide ganking, but a definate downward adjustment.
Currently it is used in empire wars like drones are... all the bloody time. -

Repping someone that has a 60 second no jump/dock timer running should result in a 60 second no jump/dock timer. This should be classed as an exploit untill it's fixed properly. -- stuff -- |

I already brought this up in Iceland and the devs agreed that it was pretty stupid, so it'll probably get fixed sooner or later. Here's a thumbs up for you anyway. |
