Words cannot describe how awesome Clear Skies III was. Fantastic work! If this is the final installment, I will be forever saddened. It seems that each episode is better than the last, and I see that your technical skills at it improve as well.
Well done! :D

Its now the second time i watched it completely, and countless times the wormhole scene starting at 0:30:20 and the final battle which give me still shivers all over.
I love all the little details put into it; IFEAR, -312 Days Trial Edition of VirtualBUS, Spongebob, 404 Navigation Not Found, Cake and Compagnion Cube ... soooo awesome.

I was so awe-struck after I watched Clear Skies 3 (My jaw had dropped before 1:00), my neighbors might have well though I was being murdered by the way I was screaming at my computer. You can't go making your stuff THAT awesome, theres an awesome limit, you know. Well... there was, you definately set the bar.
That production was wayyy beyond impressive.

Where to start? Have watched all 3 movies. First was great. Second was equally great if not better. But #3... is just amazing. I cannot express how gratified and excited I feel having had the opportunity to see such great fan work. Ian, you seriously need to get hired by a major motion picture studio. Better yet, perhaps you should start your own.
Damn, I think my bitter vet syndrome is in recession!

After 30 years of watching fan movies I was pretty blasT about them, good though the majority are. Clear Skies 1, 2 and 3 are nothing short of masterpieces and I actually really like the central characters - they should be a TV mini-series. :D
I'm now preaching the Clear Skies gospel to friends and family - and I'm now off to find the "Donate" button!

I am sure that Ian will be doing the Blooper reel soon(ish), believe me he has PLENTY of material to choose from :) However to do it Ian will have to animate, lip-synch and Mo-cap the scenes, which takes a bit of time :)
So basically, it will be here, just watch this space :)

Just recently found this. Holy crap. I can only hope you make more videos of eve like this. I'm thinking I would love to have my pilot in your movie somewhere XD.
It's just phenomenal what you've accomplished. I even got teary-eyed near in part 2 and 3. "Are we even now?" will always be stuck in my head as a greatest moment in any movie. I've watched that fight scene over and over again, as well as the Magellan and the cap fight in the third.
If you ever get the chance, you should re-do your fist two in HD as well! ------

It's amazing, isn't it? Even some of the memes which I doubt they intended to be such initially are fantastic:
- It's hot drop o'cloooooooock!
- "Caldari emergency frequency Oscar Mike Foxtrot Gulf" (OMFG)
etc.
Not to mention the little things in character development like the sofa. If they don't make a Clear Skies 4, I wish they'd go ahead and tell us all so someone can plan to make a spinoff with different characters or something.
BTW, I know how much of a royal pain in the ass it is to do this kind of CGI. Hats off to you guys.

It really is amazing. I hope they make a 4, and show us some Jove space =p. If not, I'd rather they tell us so I'm not hoping every day for the announcement.
If anything, I would pay money to see him produce more movies like this. I would literally buy the movies. There is plenty of lore and RP to toss around in Eve for millions of stories to be told. So if their only excuses are, "We can't make a movie in the jove region" or "The story is over", there are still tons of other things to make a Eve/Source engine combo in.
I wonder if he'd dabble in the Unreal engine instead for this and use the Unreal 3 engine if he makes another story. It would look soooo pretty all around ------

I wonder if it is possible to get ahold of the frostbite 2 tech (assuming this is the graphics engine, its the only ad i have seen in the video) that is used in Battlefield 3. The motion and scenes would be on par with the final fantasy movie. Either way, keep em coming, great work! |

I've posted this in the CS3 thread, but I figured I'd updatge the threadnaught as well:
Thank you all, as ever, for your kind and awesome words of praise. If it wasn't for the unbelievable level of support I've recieved from the community, the series would have ended at the first one. I'm very proud to have achieved all this and to be a part of Eve Online's lore, I'm honoured to have had the privilege to entertain all you lovely people, and the story I always wanted to tell has now finally been told.
While I still have the outtakes to make (coming soontm) I'm moving on to other things with regards to creative writing and so forth, so yeah, it's definitely over for the CS series. It's been an emotional 6 years or so, and even when I didn't enjoy it, I've enjoyed it
I might actually play Eve now. Question is.... how the hell do you undock? I've forgotten
-JR
PS also, dear CCP, is this the biggest and oldest continuous thread you've had? I don't know, but it must come close, surely

Ian, I am sure I speak for the rest of the community when I say a massive THANK YOU, to you and your friends, for undertaking this massive dream you had of "telling the story" of 'Clear Skies'.
It's been a wild ride for you, the creators, I am sure, but also for us, the audience. Clear Skies blew us all away when we saw it, and I felt it should definately be picked up and made into a long running seriel. Then came Clear Skies II, improvements in every direction and clearly, the better things get, the harder the work to get there. Most of us appreciated and accepted this as the end, and didn't dare hope you would make a Clear Skies III.
But Clear Skies III! You DID it! You actually DID IT! A pefrect end to a perfect story. An epic finale to a trilogy that was never planned as such, and George Lucas could learn a thing or two from you, Sir!
You told your story, Ian, and dragged us laughing, kicking and screaming ("Haffa! Nooooooooo!!") along the way. Your story telling, directing, editing, design and computer skills have reached epic proportions.
We wish you well with all your future projects and hope that 'Clear Skies' leads you to your next dream, as just deserved as it is.
Ian, THANK YOU
Fly safe.

I've entered Clear Skies 3 in the EveIsReal.net contest
http://www.eveisreal.net/api/redirect/mention/98170
I figure it doesn't get much more real than an international audience, introducing or re-introducing people to the game, engaging people who don't even play games, and most of all uniting you lot no matter what the faction, alliance, or history
Any facetwitter shares would be much appreciated!

He used the half life engine to *help* tell a story in the Eve universe. It wasn't like he had Freeman running around and them referring to the "that one character"(not giving away plot) as G-man. "No offence" GZK but.. HERP DERP!
The only complication I could see using it officially would be a liscensing issue between CCP and valve.
To John Rourke. You got my vote! amazing job!
