I post this to all pod pilot that have ever had a ship somehow survive in the most odd circumstances. Hit structure that once to many times for it to be coincidence.
Ive had a Harbinger for 3 months now and racked up well over a billion isk in kills with it. It even flew in the alliance tournament in march... Sadly today it died, but jesus christ did it go down beating.
This harbinger had hit structure so many times i might aswell make the bridge in the centre of the ship (where its safest... id imagine ). I never rigged it, i never put anymore on it than t2, but it lived and it was probably the most successful ship ive ever flown.
Its pass aweh at 2008-05-30 06:05:00 - Killing a Rapier and Myrmidon under sentry fire as it was slowly destroyed... *got the bugger frapsed too * (ship wernt guna live, pirates there have far more than was on death mail)
So any of you guys ever have a ship last that bit longer than expected and get that tiny bit attached?

Got that beat by a long shot. We have an Armageddon named 'Stalwart Devotion' that's over three years old. We obtained it as ransom during a minor war early in the corporation's history - it was surrendered as payment to stop us exterminating the other guys.
It's seen so many fights, and not died, we're starting to think it has a guardian angel watching over it.

I did - my first gank Hurricane. It died yesterday after engaging a Scorpion under sentries starting with low armour (was a silly move of me, but I was hoping sentries would focus on the other people, didn't work out). Shame to lose such a fine ship in such a stupid way
So far the ship participated in killing a number of BS and various other things, and memorable solo kills include another gank Hurricane, then a Raven, and a Eagle who had a mate in system so I went in with full heat and it went down in 13 volleys (or, 24 seconds )
Possibly the most nerve-wrecking situation it was in was a fight outside Tama station with a Hurricane agressing me (with 40%-ish armour, I was repping it up). I docked, refit my ship to standard (but didn't rep armour) and undocked, being told I had support.
Turns out the support was a frigate, but anyway, I started on the Hurricane and asked for help. Very soon, a Crow , Ishtar and Falcon appear, I'm jammed by the Falcon (it broke on next circle with overloaded ECCM and the Falcon being pressed by my gangmates). My gang undocks at this point, and a sniper tried to take out a falcon unsuccessfully to save me and got tackled.
The rest of the gang are trying to save the Rokh and gank the Ishtar/Falcon, while the Hurricane and Crow are starting to pursue me (I was fleeing away at 30% armour). A quick few volleys killed the Crow, and after that I started on the Hurricane - I slowed down a bit so he can web me (and I him), overloaded the entire rack and blew him to bits just when I reached 30% structure. Epic fight
Insurance was about to expire on it in a few weeks.

I generally make sure I have a couple of each of the ships I fly kicking about ready in case one dies.
Of these, one is an Enyo with the name "VCS Surge". I've lost a couple of enyos in my time, but whenever I fly this particular ship it refuses to die. It's ran through anti pirate gatecamps, been into structure more times than I care to remember and never seems to give in to anything that's shooting it.
It's the first Enyo I eve bought, when they first came on the market after the BPO was seeded, and it's still alive today.
When it does finally die, I'll probably be gutted

Edited by: Detria on 30/05/2008 18:08:49 Being one of the pilots that helped kill your harby, I can attest that it did indeed go down in a blaze of glory. You were mostly dead when I got to the fight and the flames erupting from your hull where a sight to see . Not to worry however, your ship does indeed live on as your loots are in my cargo hold and I will treat them with all due respect.
Seriously though, GF, that ship put up a nice battle.

I had a raven in my blood inq days that was indestructable. It was primaried in multiple gang fights, fought several times outnumbered, always seemed to win. I crashed in it once in a belt, logged back on to find it at 7% structure with gate rats chewing away, managed to save it then. Another fight saw it at 41 structure points.
It died the day I put a Dread Guristas XL on it (replacing my named one). This was back when faction gear was really pricey. - Violence isn't the answer, it is the question. The answer is yes. |

I never lost my little combat helios - Hackers on steroids. It was shot to structure several times as well , and tackled lots of victims (with more or less success) in its long life.
I'm sure the hull change to imicus will make it go emo and die. None of my imicus have survived.

Actually I do have a lucky ship. Nowhere Fast, my broadsword, seems to be nearly impossible to kill. It's survived more PVP ops then any ship i've ever and has been in positions where it should have died several times but keeps on escaping. I mean it goes 500 m/s when the bubble is up but it still manages to escape time after time after time.
Just a couple days ago I was in a small roaming gang of 4 T2 ships. We attacked a Geddon at a gate. Luckily for me i decided to use the script instead of the bubble like i normally do because the next thing we know the gate activates 10-15 times and they all go after me. I burn away but All 10-15 targets, including ceptors, had gotten a lock on me and had the red attack brackets. I was even webbed and my speed dropped like a rock.
Some how some way even with 10-15 targets, with ceptors, agressing me I managed to hit warp. At this point I assumed the ship was finally going to die. I didn't even try to warp out. Don't ask me how but the next thing I know I lose lock as my ship bursts into warp from an attempt to warp I made quite a bit earlier that I thought had been canceled.
I swear this thing doesn't even know the meaning of the word death. The saddest part of it all is the fact that I don't even really like flying a Broadsword. I only fly it so often because it seems to be the only ship I ever have around my hanger after everything else has died. _______________

I own a kestrel that has participated in the killing of two motherships and has been with me for well over a year and a half; like the other ships in the storys mentioned the bugger refuses to die, i am considering flying it near a POS just to see if said POS self-destructs in the face of this particular kessie.

Personally, I have a Merlin - yes a merlin - that has survived many battles...Here is the full list of stuff I have a accomplished while in it.
-Survived a titan DDD (I was 100m outside the range) -Locked a Aeon with no support around -Scouted many Deathstar POS's
Etc etc...I mean, This little ship doesn't die...And usually only fit a MWD and a missile launcher on it...

Edited by: Captain Falcord on 30/05/2008 21:44:21 Edited by: Captain Falcord on 30/05/2008 21:43:38 Well, my story is really "small-scale" compared to yours, but I find it funny anyway.
I command a small pirate wing made of RL friends, and they get to hate me because I'm absolutely suicidal :P. I've made my rifter/rifter/griffin gang warp into battleships, three or four battlecruisers (we managed to kill two) and several other dangerous ships.
Due to this, we lose an alarming number of ships a day. Since they're dirty cheap, we don't care, and we inflicted an amount of damage enormously better than our losses. (800m to 32 million so far) and we have lots of fun ^^.
I have a special problem with ruptures. I tank them to hell as back, as much as my crappy t1 skills make me able to, but they ALWAYS die. I've never managed to dock a rupture back from roaming. At all. And I've flown 12 already.
So I was bored one day and I had an idle stabber in my hangar (no idea how it ended there). I wanted to get rid of it because I don't really like stabbers, so I nano-ed it with a crappy t1 fitting and went to battle knowing it was going to die.
Well, it didn't, for long. I scored 8 kills with him and went away of some dangerous scenarios, it escaped gatecamps, baits, horrendous anti-pirate blobs... Two battleships were needed to take him down at last (I randomly warped into a belt when escaping a station camp and landed in two sensor-boosted killer BS).
By the way, it was called Sigara Boregi IV, after some turkish food that reminds me of the stabber in shape and colour.
I think that, the less you care about the ship, the longer it will stay with you ^^.

I have a Tristan that I've used for months now. I first picked it up when my character was maybe a month old, on my first visit to Gallente space. I decided to try flying the local ships and running the Gallente navy missions. I also got my first solo PVP kill with it, a Rifter belt-ratting in Vylade.
I've tried to throw it away in absurdly risky situations many times. Once I even dueled an alliance-mate's destroyer with it... even though he had me beat, his balls retracted and he warped away when I was in structure, unable to land the final blow. I've burned through a couple other Tristans but I still have that damn first one in my hangar.

I have a typhoon that was given to me as a noob, its older than my char, but I dont know how much older, I know it was used a lot before I got it, when I picked it up from low sec when I was 2 or 3 months old it was in structure and I had to pay to get it repaired, its still alive and kicking, its been to fountain, feythabolis, delve, period basis, omist and it got to those places by me flying it there, no carrier jumping, it took part in many empire wars including my first ever significant fight, 8 vs 8 with me FC'ing at 4 months into the game, think we killed 6 or 7 lost 2 or something.
In later life it was used as a nanophoon before nano's where balanced, it was not used as a solopwnnanomobile but it was used as a bumper for getting capitals off dock range, being used in that role it was put into structure loads of times and was probably on 5 or 6 capital kills in low sec
another ship I have that is older than my char is my fleet issue stabber called ''beep street'' which has seen a lot of combat too (but not loads) I got a loan of 100 million back when I was a noob and couldnt even use t2 autocannons and bought it off the old escrow system, I spent 3 weeks doing lvl 3's to pay the guy back (that was before salvaging was in the game) and I remember fitting it with a warp core stab and a 4 slot armour tank, but didnt pvp in it until I had racked up a lot of kills in a stabber and knew how to fly it properly
One other special ship I have is a Claymore called ''infection'' which was in both getsu fune vids, and has been in hull loads of times, in fact about 3 or 4 days ago even I got blobbed by hacs and a falcon, managed to kill a vaga and bail even while being cycle jammed by a falcon as the rest of their gang was chewing on my m8 in an ishtar, that ship has seen a LOT of fighting and how it is still alive I dont know but I'm thinking of retiring it before I get ganked in it.

When i was 20d in the game i was doing trading and hunting faction rats in hi-sec, was doing ok, but a dude in my NPC corp at the time decided to quit EVE after 2 months of playing. In the end i got it all, about 200m in various stuff and a Vexor fitted for missions called BLUE TEAM LEADER. I have kept that ship wherever i went, always safe, for the guy to return to the game - that was 2yrs ago, and i still check my character for eve-mails from him. It had the same fit ever since i got it, and i will always keep it like that untill he returns or I quit.
PS: Please, no 'burning candle in the window' jokes about this. :(

Not really had a lucky ship per-se, but I DO have what I consider to be a lucky clone. Oddly enough it was in the alliance tourney... that one has made it thru numerous 0.0 gatecamps, flashy red thru hi-sec and faced some weird situations.
More strange is that I only created it cos of Kessah's funky ideas.
It's also one of 4 so you'll never know which one it is =P

Actually I have an abaddon that has ended up on fire atleast once a month due to combat, or just a stupid decision on my part...
The lowest into structure I think it ever went was 35%
I purchased it in my first couple months on this character, and it has currently been retired to be my mission ship as I got tired of renewing the damn insurance. |
