So I was recently thinking about making a purely transport alt seeing as I have a buttload of stuff lying all over the place and I do dabble in trading here and there.
And so I began to think which race would be best suited for the job... and I was a bit put off by the question. Naturally I think everyone jumps for the gallente, with the itty 5 having the highest cargo cap out of anything short of a freighter for only a parsley few mils (not counting rigs ). But then there's minmatar, with easily the best blockade runner in the game, and the freighter with the shortest align time despite having the "smallest" cargo hold of the freighter class. Then the caldari, whose fregihter can fit up to nearly 1,000,000 m3 cargo despite taking something on the order of 2x longer to align than the fenrir.
So I pose this question to all the industrial alts and mains out there - which race is the overall best for transporting things? and I'm taking into account all levels of transport, including t1 indies, t2 indies, and freighters.
Thanks for any and all input. ~

The Charon has a lower intertia multiplier (0.43 vs. 0.5 for all the others) and takes only a tiny bit longer than the Fenrir to warp. It only makes a difference if you want to navigate a jump bridge network, where the fuel costs are mass-dependent, and even then it still comes out only very narrowly behind, due to the 9% higher capacity.
The Charon is the way to go if all you want is a freighter, but you don't get such good transports. My research services Mineral compression for carrier/Rorqual pilots |

ahh thank you very much for your response, seems like you know what you are talking about.
but seeing as you said, how the only ship of any real merit for the amarr is the charon, what race might have the best overall spread of transport ships?
I'll accept input from anyone, it's not like you need to have all the math written up for it to make sense. ~

The amarr transports arnt at all bad. The frieghter looks great and I believe the impel has the largest hold of the transports. The prorator isnt a bad blockade runner either though im not sure how it compares to the rest.

I'd probably say minmatar. The prowler almost feels like an interceptor, except it hauls 4,000m^3 per trip, even with a full poly/istab/nano fit. It's probably the best ship in the game for grinding standings - 10 level 2-3 courier missions at once is quite do-able. My research services Mineral compression for carrier/Rorqual pilots |

Heh, well.
Charon is the king of freighters aright, just shy of a mil m3 with lvl v (think that took me 48 days ), and the crane is basically a badger mk iii, bigger hold and twice the speed.
But the prorator comes out tops for both agility and cargo space (separate fittings) seeing as the additional lows more than compensate for mimi agility and the impel can indeed exceed the bustard for space, however while doing slow you're piloting a very slow paper bag with nothing but expanders.
Since my alt was a dedicated hauler i pushed caldari freighter v than did amarr transports but most players wont have that amount of time, which is why gallente are the most common, distinctly middle ground. ***The EVE servers and their patches*** |

from personal experiance the amarr transpots are the best.
Prorator has 4 lows anc you can config it many ways... think its the fastest to warp also. impel has the largest cargo hold of all of the t2 haulers.
thats why i trained both of my alts to use amarr ones... even tho one alt can use caldari ones allso :P

From my point of view. Unless you're planning to fly T1 only you're best off with Minmatar (excellent T1 transport and very good T2) or Amarr (excellent T2 transports and 100% more golden shininess).
The race you absolutely shouldn't pick is Caldari considering the poor capabilities of their Blockade runner and limited abilities of their T1 transport (the battlebadger is good for laughs, but the badger isn't exactly a top notch hauler). ______________________________________________ -You can never earn my respect, only lose it. Point for Amarr: Most cargo with least skill training. Bestower carries 17km3 with expander IIs and 4 GSCs, and it only needs Amarr Industrial I. Point for Caldari: Biggest freighter and jump freighter. Point for Gallente: Iteron V is the biggest T1 industrial, with Gallente Industrial 5. Takes a long time to train for, but is significantly cheaper than its main competitor, the Impel. Point for Minmatar: The 2nd biggest T1 industrial, the Mammoth, requires Minmatar Industrial 4, is bigger than the Bestower, and much easier to skill up for than the Iteron V. Point for Minmatar: Best blockade runner? Point for Amarr: Best deep space transport, the Impel. More expensive than the Iteron V but putting rigs on an Impel is less insane than putting them on an Iteron V.

if you want overall effectiveness don't go caldari, since the freighter is the only real benefit. You'll suffer from their sub-par transports which not only have limited cargoholds, they're also annoying to fit properly.
