Looking for advice on setting up a Dominix for Drone Region ratting. They do all damage types so I was trying to figure out a good low slot combination. Also, what drones would be the best to use. EM or Thermal seeing how they have a slightly lower EM resist but Thermal have a higher damage modifier. Thanks for any advice.

Gallente-type drones (Hammerhead, Hobgoblin, Ogre), their damage modifier far outweighs that of the Amarr-type drones, even with the 10% increased resistances. I've tried and tested this, it's the right way to go.
For tanking, maybe dual LAR, tank heavy on Kinetic/Explosive, minor tank on Thermal and EM is a complete rarity amongst drones.
Highslots, salvagers, tractors, ESPECIALLY tractors, because you are going to want the loot (no bounties so main source of income).

Ogres = 24dmg / 2 seconds * 1.6 * (1-0.6) = 7.68 dps Praetors = 24dmg / 2 seconds * 1.15 * (1-0.49) = 7.038 dps
Ogre Orbit= 250m/s velocity / 1000m orbit = 0.25 rad/s (Angular Velocity) Praetor Orbit= 300m/s velocity / 1000m orbit = 0.3 rad/s (Angular Velocity) Ogre Tracking = 0.3 r/s Praetor Tracking = 0.41 r/s
For Ogres, that tracking calculates to a 60% hit rate. For Praetors, the hit rate is much closer to 70%. This varies by tranversal, but the orbit speed of the drone itself is a major limiting factor. Ogres = 7.68 dps * 0.6 = 4.60 dps Praetors = 7.038 * 0.7 = 4.93 dps
As your drone support skills improve, drone tracking will improve and the tracking problems will vanish. But, on average, Praetors have superior DPS against Drones.
Edit: Oops, wrong orbit speed on Ogres. DPS is closer than I realized, but Praetors still have an advantage.

You only need 1 LAR II for ratting.

So the low shot layout should be something like this? 2x T2 LAR 2x T2 Exp Hardners 2x T2 Kin Hardners 1x T2 Thermal Hardner as the 50% resist to EM should be enough?

Drone rats can put out a lot of damage. That and the fact that you have to tank all damage types means that there are a number of spawns that can't be tanked with only one LAR II.
That being said I only used one when I was out there. though I had to warp out occasionally.
