I have been having issues logging into EVE for the last few weeks, with my characters getting 'stuck' far more often than I should have been.
If I were docked: the interface would load, but chat windows, and any game functions would not work. If I were in space: I would be left staring at the 'entering space message' for a few minutes
My 'workaround' was to clear the cache and keep trying until I connected properly (While I could usually get in after a few tries, I once tried 30 times, and still didn't connect, but let's not dwell on that...)
In addition to the above problems, I could not access my hotmail email account, or use google (the main page would load, but could not search). I was even unable to submit a report through the 'ask a question' in the support section of EVE-online.
I have discovered that my router (Netgear RP614v1) is the cause of all my troubles. When I by-pass the router and connect the modem directly to my computer my connection, including EVE, works perfectly.
I have tried all available firmware for this router, but have not been able to find one that works, and bypassing the router kinda defeats the purpose of having one in the first place.
A corp mate of mine has a similar issue, so it's quite likely that there are more people who are having a similar problem, and if you are, I hope this information is of use to you. If anyone has any suggestions, or (better yet) a solution, please reply below.

I have a Netgear DM602 and I occasionally have to reset my router because it blocks access to myeve.eve-online.com and the actual Eve play server.
Have you tried resetting it when this happens to you?
You could try Port Forwarding - a description for your router is here

by resetting the router, do you just mean turning the power off and then back on? Because it's one of the first things i've tried.
I had a quick look at port forwarding, and gave it a quick try. Can ports be forwarded to more than one IP Address? because my brother also plays and needs to access eve.

i have the v2 of your router and was having similar problems, even after updating firmware.
Ever since turning on the upnp option on the router i dont appear to get any trouble at all. So maybe if your router has that option try turning it on.

I also have a DM602 and for some reason if i leave it permanetly connected I wont be able to connect to eve the next day, my solution was to set the modem to disconnect after 5 minutes inactivity and i can connect everytime now. Occasionally something goes fubar and i simply turn the DM602 off and on again and all is well. -----------

No.
BTW:I had problems with a Netgear router a year ago when trying to play Earth & Beyond. It appears that some versions of their firmware for some routers suddenly decide that a particular address needs to be blocked. Other routers have had similar problems and it has been attributed to the router deciding that a stream of UDP packets (what games normally use) are a DoS (Denial of Service) attack.
It only seems to affect routers that have a stateful firewall. Those that just rely on NAT seem less prone to this behaviour probably because they are so simplistic. The difference is that a stateful firewall actually reads what's in the packet and can block it based on content.
One example is my company firewall which can actually block usenet packets based upon their content. For a while it blocked one server because it hadn't been patched up to the latest RFC and was thus following a slightly old usenet standard. Even now it blocks messages from one particular poster but unfortunately we've not been able to find out why. -- (Battle hardened miner)
