Juuust a quicky and I'm hungover so may just be being stupid....
I join the NPC milita corp and my understanding is that missions are really intended to be run in groups this means ganging up essentially with strangers surely? Does this in turn leave mevulnerable to the lofty war trick and end up with my shiny ship ganked?
Juuust curious and apologies if it's a stupid question.

I believe CCP have said that the lofty is not possible in FW due to some change they have made, but I can't remember the quote. I'm sure someone will post it here soon anyway...

Face it, if you join the faction militia then people ARE going to attack you, whether you gang up or not. No Lofty needed.
Although aparently there is a fix for the Lofty scam with this next patch so that gang member wars dont affect other gang members.

Thaat would be nice. I'm instantly turned off FW if not.
Been reading up on it this morning. I'm actually excited for the first time in ages but would like confirmation of the above.

Ah totally, I understand that but being warped to a planet and raped isn't as much fun as the fighting the good fight for the Caldari :)

In that case are we looking, basically, at mass gate camping everywhere?
Sorry if I'm repeating questions asked elsewhere.

I don't think we'll see many deadspace/officer fitted ships in FW areas.

The lofty mechanic is gone and there are sec hits for attacking members of the same militia.

Edited by: Pabs Sco on 06/06/2008 12:10:25 You don't need to join the NPC corp, you can always join a player corp signing up to FW (shameless plug) like my corp
Besides, attacking militia friends result in losing faction.... No sacrifice....no victory!

Just for my understanding, so being in a FW (either by corp or by militia) I gang up with neutrals, those neutrals are not viable targets to the opposing militia?
What prevents that those neutrals work as forward scouts providing warp ins to FW militia gang with them?
Or did I missunderstood something?
And does this apply only to the FW warfare war or does that apply to "regular" wardecs as well? ----- Garr Anders

The gang wardec transfer mecanic is being removed in next patch. In other words, wars no longer transfer over gang thus being in a gang or not makes no difference. --

Faction War missions involve numerous low-sec jumps to and from the target system. If you want to bring expensive stuff ... to each his own :)
Personally I think it has all the signs of becoming an extremly bloody low-tech affair with hundreds of T1/named fitted cruisers and battlecruisers dying daily.
Missions will take you into hostile occupied space, so why not bring a squad and capture whatever sites you stumble upon enroute? Makes sense to me.
Fast paced cruiser gang warfare is for the win in my world .. much preferred to the hulking BS which always seem to come down to who carries the most capacitor booster charges.

Ah I'm just gonna get a **** load of caracels and go to town on the missile spammage :)
I think the key thing though is getting people to work together. I'm not interested in joining a player FW corp so I'm hoping the NPC works out alright. I'm only going to do FW for possibly a month, blow some isk and some steam and then head back to my corp.

Quoting the patch notes
# Firing upon a friendly Militia NPC will be met with retaliation. # On top of gaining a Global Criminal Flag (meaning CONCORD intervention in high-security space, sentry guns retaliating and security status loss), firing upon other players within the same militia will incur a standings penalty to the respective empire faction when a hostile act occurs within high and low Security systems. Firing on a player within the same Militia in 0.0 will have no standings affect. Shooting other players within your own player made Corporation while that Corporation is part of a Militia will not result in a global criminal flag.

Doesnt answere my question and leaves the part open about normal wardecs and gangs with neutrals.
The above only refers to FW players shooting each other while being in the same militia.
It does not clarify what happens with a neutral, who joined a gang with a FW militia member and how he -as neutral- will appear to the opposing FW militia. ----- Garr Anders

Being in a gang does not transfer anything in next patch. its just like being in a chat channel. You can only gain from gang skills in a gang in next patch.

Thanks, some more questions to go :) :
Does it differ between gangs and fleets, as only fleet give gang bonus (as in having the proper leadership skills)?
Does this apply to all wardecs, thus normal empire wardecs between player corps/alliances as well?
If so is it right that I in the future can have a neutral player in a fleet (preferred CovOps player), that scans down and hunts my opposing wardec party (no matter empire wardec or FW wardec) and giving my fleet warp in spots with the "warp to me"?

Gang/Fleet == same, same. They are actually removing all references to "gangs", there are only fleets now.
Quote:

All wardecs. It has been mentioned multiple times that they use the same mechanics.

Yes. That is also one of the reasons that it is taking place in LowSec, for a minor penalty you can blow that nuetral alt up . Also, someone shooting at your militia memeber will incur standings hit with their faction, meaning they might find themselves unable to enter your empire's space at some point. And it is harder to gain faction back than security standings; once you hit -2 no more storylines

Not it isn't, people should be encouraged to get out in low sec space, but never forced to do so.
