Edited by: Boethian on 07/06/2008 03:48:14 I am fairly certain there will be no comparison between Ambulation and Second life.
First of all, Second Life is literally that -- a second life (preferably for those lacking a first life). Secondly, Ambulation is firmly rooted in the game mechanics that EVE is based off of -- sure there will be "freedom" to walk where you will in the station (from what we've seen of the various trailers and game conferences) but that could still be limited -- the great thing about stations for developers is that the number of areas accessable can be limited because of a variety of reasons. So either the station will be immense (each station being the size of a city, etc) or a few locales will be available per station, depending on how "important" it is, location, type of station, etc.
Until "Planetary Ambulation" (the ability to walk around on a planet?) occurs, "second life" should not be compared to this game. And since this is a space sim, I doubt that will happen (though apparently there was a demo of atmospheric flying a while back). Albeit, both are sandbox, but EVE has a richer story, deeper gameplay, and fortunately doesn't require that you give up your life. Although EVE online is the only game I could think of dedicating time to in the first place.
Oh, but to be clear, I vote Ambulation.

Ambulation will be far better than Second Life. If Linden Labs is serious about their business and quality, they will make a serious offer to license the Trinity Engine to run their world, because no where else will the be able to find animation of this quality that can run like it does. The detail CCP are putting in to Ambulation is immense, and aimed to be very realistic in movement, sound and minor things like how the clothes look and move. I've played Second Life, and in order to get any decent graphics, I had to manually set my GPU to override global setting with full AA to get a nice picture, and the frame rates are horrible, you thought Jita was laggy, try anywhere with 100 people and you'll have unbearable lag.
In closing, Ambulation rules, Second life sucks. -------------------------------------------------- Everyone is born right handed, only the great over come it.

Ambulation is slated to at least become a facet of EVE's economy, and is limited to being a part of the EVE universe.
Second Life is more like a free-form chat client that enables people to create 3D objects and create their own chat space. The economy in Second Life is basically a joke, from what I understand, and there is no consistent world theme. The Devs don't actually expand on the game AT ALL from what I understand, either. At least CCP will probably be updating ambulation every few months.
Oh, and Ambulation is going to look way better than Second Life does.

The whole ambulation thing gives me the shillies.
Having to go buy a BP for a station service, then having to populate that station service with goods (also purchased as a BP and 'installed'), then having to get out and advertise 'your service'.
It all smacks horrifyingly of SecondLife and makes me want to vomit.

I hope ambulation includes tools for the clear skies group to make awesome!
and ambulation should have been in game since the beginning.
as much as I love flying around blowing stuff up every now and then a good run around the ship/station is just called for.

I play eve.. I work in Second Life.
<cough> looks at last cheque from client and counts the zero's <cough> Second Life is no Eve in many levels, but then Eve is not Second Life in others.
Both are good at what they do, just 1 I pay for, the other pays for my house.

I think you IQ hit rock bottom some time ago my friend.
Yes I know you can play eve and not have anything to do with ambulation, I'm still allowed to offer my opinion free from baseless ABUSE since this is a DISCUSSION forum. The idea of True Sansha Underpants is obviously ment to be a humourous one, but you obviously missed that since your I.Q. had dropped so much from reading these forums.
As you where you fricken forum facist.
