This thread will be used to report bugs in the new IGB. This new browser implementation is be part of the upcoming Shiva branch. You can test this browser without access to a Shiva server.
The new IGB will not display all pages. You will still need to design special pages for it but it is improved in many ways. A preliminary documentation is available here.
Features of the new IGB: various fonts and font attributescolors (even transparency)divs and tablesall kind of background images and colorspng, gif, jpeg, tiff, bmp imagesformsCSS1/2 (very pure pseudo class support)various special EVE client commands
The new IGB does not and will never support: JavaScript/JavaFlashdownload of files
A good collection of sample test pages can be found here. Please report all bugs you find, but don't report site xyz is not working without adding a reason.

The rendering of "alt" attributes as tooltips has technical reasons. It is not possible to render text only in a well defined area without a lot of overhead. The rendering of alt text might change but it is hard to make sure the whole text is visible. Personally, i think the tooltip is a good solution.

I think this only happens if the page, referred in href, is not displayable. Error handling will be improved later.

CCP will not add Flash support, for sure. Flash has nothing to do with HTML.

Passing the char id should be no problem - if there is nothing against it, it will be added in the next build.
The show info function will be limited to stuff that is available on the LIVE server anyway. It will not allow you to pull data from any item. It just opens the show info window and displays the item like the normal show info would do.

Well, the x,y,z bookmark function is exactly what we will never support because it introduces an easy way to exploit. You could simply do a triangulation of your enemy and create a bookmark to warp to him this way. Therefor this "feature" will not be available.

The showinfo function will bring up the normal "Show Info" window. Both, full item name and itemID can be used to get it displayed. The showmap function will generate an image that you can display. There are also functions for showing corporation and faction logos.

EVE uses it's own rendering machine - also for UI. There is no borked windows API in it. Hence IE renderer or controls will not work. It is also not a good idea to add such a borked rendering engine ;) - better fix the own one. :)

There will be no ISK payment functions in Shiva. Hilmar already noted the security issues connected to it in one of the CSM chats. However, there is a showinfo function. I will release details later after i made sure you can only query for items that are public.
Btw, the IGB will get a nice speedup in the next patch. Scrolling should be very smooth then. This patch also includes fixes to relative file path addressing.
More improvements comming in the next days. I will also update the documentation to reflect the changes.

The '500 internal server error' Error meesage is generated server side. The IGB can not do anything about it. Please check your scripts. |

Quote: 1. I guess the numbers of the solarsystems for the Eve MAP are the same as mentioned in the CCP Excel sheet which was there to download in de dev blogs?
yep
Quote: 2. showrouteto doesn't seem to work.. i cannot get the client to print te route. Is it also possible to set it directly as destination?
I will look into this.
Quote: 3. Where can i find a list of item typeid's and does it also work with agents (number in the Excel sheet)?
Currently there is no list. I don't know if this will change in future. But Show Info also works for agents. I will add an example to the documentation.
Quote: 4. Several testpages do not come up after waiting a long time. Ex. Form test 3
Fixed in 2836.
Quote: 5. The 'spinning round' showing when loading a page isn't there anymore in the browser? It is in other screens but i do not see it in the igb.
Fixed in 2836.
Quote: 6. is there a list with all the icons/files which you can use and are in the .res/.stuff files? When i view them i see a lot of .blue files but i do not know what they show when you use them (especialy with the files in the icons directory)
I will ask whether i am allowed to include a list in the documentation.

I provided an example code for showinfo http://bughunters.addix.net/igbtest/ingametest4.html. I will update the manual accordingly.
Cookies do work in IGB, but only session cookies are supported for now. When using PHP, make sure you have session_start() at top of each file. I will add an example code in the manual.
The border=1 bug in tables is known and already fixed intern. You can work around it by supplying a border color in styles or tag attributes.

Quote: Font test 5: the bottomline of the right aligned paragraph is not aligned properly.
Fixed. Was a problem with spaces at the end of the line
Quote: Image test 2b: seems to work, but then open the page in IE and notice the fact that the top image is completely different!
This is a problem with the webserver. It sends odly formated JPEGs. Other browsers have the same problem.
Quote: Image test 2c: are the bullets actually meant to be occluded by the images?
Yes, see page source and IE on the same page.
Quote: Form test 1: #1 The textarea starts scrolled down by 1 line. #2 The radiobutton marked as "checked" is not on when I first visit the page, nor is it after I post or get it. (it does seem to work in its seperate test though, but this page works fine in IE) #3 Using the up and down arrows in a textarea will scroll the entire page. #4 Even though there is only 1 line in the textarea, it shows a vertical scrollbar when loading the page, which disappears if I enter text. #5 This problem is system-wide, but painfully apparent in textareas: using the shift and cursor keys to select text only works half the time. Besides, cutting or deleting the text once selected has unexpected effects. Typing in selected text also seems to affect the selection in mysterious ways.
textareas were fixed earlier. Checked radiobutton is fixed now. Can do nothing against the arrow problem atm. scrollbar problem fixed earlier. i don't understand the selection one.
Quote: Form test 2: Not working at all. Form test 3: Apparently the problems with form alignment carry over to tables.
Works for me. What exactly is the problem?
Quote: Form test 5: The size attribute of a text input apparently also limits the maxlength, while it shouldn't.
Fixed.
Quote: Body test 1: The page nicely illustrates another odd bug, hovering a link will show the tooltip in huge font in the background, though perhaps this is a debug feature?
Prolly debug. Ignore it for now.
Don't hasitate to send more reports like this. The IGB covers a lot of functions. Nobody is able to test them all.

I am busy fixing all the bugs. Thanks for your reports.
Page reloading is implemented: in PHP it looks like this:
header("refresh:10;URL=ingametest.php");
10 is the time in seconds and URL points to the URL to load.
I also implemented a page reload on session change (jumping/docking): header("refresh:sessionchange;ingametest.php");
you may also combine both methods (i have not tested this though).
A working example can be foound here: http://bughunters.addix.net/igbtest/ingametest.php

Ok, i fixed some bugs. I will only list the n umbers here: 3, 5, 6, 8, 9, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 19, 20, 22, 23, 24, 25, 28, 34, 35, 39, 40.
some comments on the others: 1, 4, 29: The jpeg images of www.eve-online.com seems to be broken on all browsers. There is nothing i can do against it. I will try to get the reload function working again.
2, 16, 17: i will fix this when i find the reason 7: later 10: normal behaviour - i see no problem in it 13: renders ok according to the standard - see Mozilla/IE - the order in the class attribute does not matter. The priority is done in the class definition itself. 18: will fix later - minor anyway 21: horizontal scrolls are not possible with the current UI. 26: will investigate this later 27: New fonts are done after shiva release. No promise if these signs get in. 30: The page works correct as designed by me to test form data transittion. 31: hard to fix - maynbe later 32: later 33: will stay this way for now 36: not able to fix atm 37: multiselects work for me. Use your CTRL key 38: this would cause very long loading times. I will add a shift - reload later

The ingame browser tag is hardcoded and can not be changed. I think you use something like a proxy which stores your requests. Just a guess though.

The reason for not using IE or Mozilla browser is quite simple:
1. These widgets can not interact with the EVE drawing layers. It is a totally different way to draw the UI. 3D compared to 2D.
2. All the special tags we use to provide special functions in the IGB will not work any more.
3. We don't want to replace normal web browsers. We want to provide a simple browser that allows you to display your corporation webpages. I agree, we have done a much better browser than we ever planned to have. But some things (like Flash and Java Script) will never be supported.

Sorting of requests in forms is not a browser problem. HTML simply does not define the order. You should be able to sort the submitted keys yourself. ;)

CCP is working on an centralized export DB funtion. This means you will be able to download a list of all known item types, solar systems, agents, and so on. I expect it to appear about 2 weeks after the next patch. I will ask for permission to give you a list that only contains the item name and the item typeID.

Sorry, for not replying for such a long time. I was busy with other fixes.
The form loading bug is known but it's hard to figure out why it happens. I talked with all devs that could be responsible for this - no luck so far. I already have good reproduction steps. It just needs time to track it down.
I will also have a look at the blocking problem. Let's smooth the IGB a bit. ;)

I know a better solution: split the page into parts that are much smaller. The IGB has limits and a page of more than half a megabyte is surely too big.

I will see what i can do but i can not promise that all fixes will make it into this patch.
I am currently trying to figure out why some form inputs remove the page background. This bug seems only to happen for text input and select boxes. I tested a lot but still have no idea what is causing it. I am pretty sure it also causes the form element slowdown.
The next thing on my list is a general speedup in the CSS parser, which slows down the whole HTML parsing process.
After that i will do all these small funky fixes that you are demanding. :)

The new patch contains an improved font rendering engine for the IGB. You will notice a good speedup when rending text. Also, word wrapping now works as it should and the double text rendering in lists is gone too.
I will have a deeper look into layouting engine in September. This should speedup tables and divs. You will see the result in Kali.

Corp logos can only have a size of 64 or 128 but you can rescale them with the width and height attribute. Btw, it is always a good idea to add the width and height attribute to images. This allows the IGB to render the page while the images are still loading. Otherwise it would have to wait until the image arrives to retrieve the image size.

The EVE IGB was not implementat to act as a full web browser. It provides ingame functionality to player webpages. It is simply not possible to use these functionality in 3rd party products. It would already be very hard if not impossible to implement the IE or Mozilla rendering engine into the EVE rendering engine. It works in a completely different way. I will continue to fix bugs in the IGB and implement more useful features. But you will for sure never see Flash support in the IGB.

1) Using typeID 1 for characters does not work any more. You need to use 1383 or a similar ID, e.g., "<A HREF=öshowinfo:1383//3012978ö>Agent: Tasara Athasho</A>". FactionIDs range from 500001 to 500020. The is currently no way to show alliance logos in the IGB.
2) The first number in "showinfo:" is always the typeID t20 released a complete DB with the previous patch. You will find everything there.
3) The "evemailto:" link should work correct. You can you this site: http://bughunters.addix.net/igbtest/ingametest2.html for testing.

Status of the IGB bug fixing: - Form encoding using the GET method does now work as expected - unicode characters in forms are now encoded correctly - Form elements in tables do not vanish any more when scrolling - multiple checkboxes with the same name are now submitted correctly
Next on the list: - All the CSS bugs - div positioning - some basic javascript emulation for forms

This happens because you have used percentual height within a style, which is currently not supported for all attributes. The old code just skipped those styles but the new one can actually handle percentual widths and heights in some cases. Unfortunately, it causes an exception in unsupported cases. I actually don't know if it is critical enough (QA wise) to get it fixed before Kali 1 release.

mamano: There are various reasons why the turst headers are not submited: 1. Your page is not in the trusted site list and your page is on the ignored site - so it will not ask for trust 2. Your page does not ask for trust and will therefore never added to the trusted pages
Anyway, the trusted page headers are only send when the page is listed under trusted sites.
