No use in having a form that you can't submit, and without this feature I'm unable to collect any data.
Anyone have any pointers? My kill site is downed until this is resolved :¼( I know it must be something I'm doing as the eve-extra site does still submit
EDIT : I got a form to submit now, but it doesn't work if any return characters are in string. anyone else having similar issues?
K, sussed this thanks to PreTender @ Eve-Extra
Seems the IGB now inserts <br> instead of \r\n. My site runs on IIS which tries to validate the request and it was throwing a wobbly with this as it looks a bit like an HTML attack so was complaining about security. I turned the validation off for this one page and it now accepts the <br> and i just split on that instead
problem solved :¼)
This needs to be fixed.....

Edited by: Darklandz on 24/12/2005 01:11:52 i'm also working on our corp ingame site, the only way for me to find an itemid is to use the eve online item database, find the item, click on it and it displays the detail page hxxp://www.eve-online.com/itemdatabase/ships/dreadnoughts/amarr/19720.asp ... the 19720 is the itemid.
Is there a list with all itemid's to make our life easyer...
Feel free to visit hxxp://www.darklandz.be/ingame/

There is yes, but the download site is down atm, presumably until T20 does the RMR export.
The cold war patch data has most items with their name, itemid and description etc. You can lookup the name of the item, get the item id and then go on from there

Looks to have changed again. Now the (<) character is inserted as-is and not the escaped version instead of & lt ;.
Now I can't get the trusted site thing working as it did before. I can manually enter them but that's not ideal. Anyone know if the format for this has changed at all? __________________________________________________ Gunther Hoosler ALi Director

My forms are not submitted if I have scrolled down on a page. If I have scrolled down and click the submit button I'm just moved to the top of the page. If I am at the top of the page and click the submit button, it submits the form.

I've mentioned that in this thread like half a year ago.. Edit: found it Linkage
If I get time, I will finally hack an example page and submit it with a bug report.
With a large form the IGB just scroll down when clicking "Submit" instead of actually submitting anything. Maybe we should put "Submit" buttons all over the page. ----------

Edited by: Sirilonwe on 29/12/2005 09:33:13 I have done many tests with forms:
A. form elements (INPUT, etc...) not inside a FORM is causing the "Something went wrong" message.
B. form elements in DIV absolute positionned (like: <DIV STYLE="position: absolute; top: 50px; left: 5px; width: 150px; height: 100px;"> <FORM ... </FORM> </DIV> will show the form, well positionned, but won't submit it when clicking on the submit button.
C. There's no z-order with form elements. They are always rendered first.
I can cope with A and C, but B is a showstopper for me. I made a PHP class which generate a layout, based on absolute positionned DIVs... it works great, but I can't use any forms because of point B.
Please traveler, do something for poor nerds .
edit: Reading the two others post above me, i'm thinking that the onclick detection box isn't updated when scrolling the page or positionning the input for the submit button.
Can someone make a test, put a submit button, scroll down a tiny bit (like 2 or 3 pixels) and then try to click a bit under (2 or 3 pixels) the button. If my intuition is correct, it should submit the form, even if you had clicked under it.

This is what I did:
I scrolled down, clicked under the button, nothing happened of course since i clicked on the blank page. Then I scrolled down like half the height of the button, clicked on the upper half of it, and nothing happened. Just flew to the top of the page. Then I did it again, but clicked in the lower half - it submits! I repeated this a number of times to be sure and the behavior didn't change.
So your theory seems to be true.

I fixed the scroll up/not submit problem with forms in large tables. Please test it in one of the next test clients.
EVE supports chinese text in the IGB. Unfortunately, it is not possible to change the default charset yet. You can always use xxx; style characters. I will add a charset parsing in Kali.

I just fixed the forms do not submit in positioned divs bug. Also, i finally found and fixed the disappearing backgrounds bug. This one was connected to the pinned window check - too hard to explain what actually happend.

1) Are there any updated documentation on the eve browser? 2) A lot of the examples on the test page are not working either. 3) What is the correct way of padding outputted text in the eve browser without using tables?
Thanks,

That one is finally fixed for my pages! Yay!
Originally by: Traveler Also, i finally found and fixed the disappearing backgrounds bug. This one was connected to the pinned window check - too hard to explain what actually happend.
My pages' background is still transparent instead of pitch black (using tables).
I use
<style type="text/css"> <!-- body {font-family: sans-serif; color: #ffffff; background-color: #000000} --> </style>

Couple of things I'd like to point out, if they haven't already been.
- Normal positioning variables aren't accepted. Example: width: 100% doesn't work in CSS. Whereas it functions when added directly into the HTML, such as <table width="100%">.
- There is a margin/padding in the top left, much like IE. However, that should be removable by setting margin: 0px; padding: 0px; in CSS on the body element.

Another one:
- text-decoration: none; doesn't seem to do anything.

Something else thats been bugging me.
When using PHP Header redirect, the browser keeps the same URL in the address bar, but it still redirects to the other page.
This is a problem, because PHP thinks that the webpage is in one place, when the browser thinks its somewhere else. This makes relational URLs mis-function.

I've been bugging that particular one for over 2 years... (Been quite a while since last time though - aka. I've given up that it will ever get fixed)
And yes it does indeed raise all kinds of hell for a web-developer...
And makes for sites needing more clicking from the users, as you cant rely on the redirect feature. One of the most basic things of making sits user-friendly... (aka. less clicking etc)
Can you sense I'm utterly frustrated with the lack of will to fix this one?

Ahhh, I'm getting around it by using a static URL instead of relational urls. Which is a shame, because it is now completely non-portable.
Examples:
$baseURL = "http://".$_SERVER['HTTP_HOST']."/cwra/igb/";
<a href="<?PHP echo $baseURL; ?>index.php?p=index">Main</a>
As long as the website is in that set of sub-directories.

Hmm - intersting. Never thought of that as a 'work-around'. And dont quite get why it should help either. (I'll have to do some testing)
For portability - Well, you've already kinda showed the workaround for that.
Simply have an include file for all pages, with the base (URL) constant in it. Only need to change it one place then (if/when you port to a diff server)
It still remains... Why this thing hasnt ever been fixed...
