Some time ago I read from one of the devs that they were considering to introduce a way to recover faction standing from -10 for people who wants to leave FW, or just change sides.
Question for both devs and testers: has there been any change in this direction?

if you are fighting for one side i dont believe there will give you a mechanic to completly recover yoru standing with the opposition since you have been shooting there guys it wouldnt make sence
so pick wisely when you do pick a side
your getting confused with the mechanic they might be brining in to reduce normal standings to join FW not leave and join the other side

Imo it would make perfect sense when you see FW'ers as mercs. Then we also got reason to increase pay outs and pay per enemy kill.
Navy hires us to help them. They pay us. Enemy navy doesnt like us really, but as soon as we leave, they should like us immediatly alot more. Okay still negative standing, but we then are just mercs fighting for isk, they understand that.

This is the main reason I will not participate in FW. I really want to give it a go but my main (which is the only remotely combat capable toon I have) is heavily into industry. If I did FW I would ruin a lot of his ability to do his carebearish stuff. There is just too much downside that is not recoverable from for me to bother.
More's the pity...I would have liked to have played with FW. Ahh well...

There is an extremely limited way to increase negative faction standings in FW: by joining a corp in the militia of a faction you're negative with you can gain standing with that militia and via promotions you can get faction standing. This is limited to nine faction standing increase though (as you can only be promoted nine times, and you can't get it more than once per rank) and the amount of faction standing increase is as of yet unknown.
If you can get one of the factions of a block above -2.0 you can start doing missions for them and then increase your standings further via derived modifications. But as said this is a one-time option of nine increases and it might not work if you're as low as -10.

Just some additional info about standings... seems the Diplomacy skill is not taken into account at all when trying to join a faction militia. I bug reported it and got back that it was intended, so Im stuck with fighting for Caldari myself. Everybody else hates me.

Ignore this fella and any posts that follow the same train of thought.
There is one aspect to EVE that will always be retained:
There will never be any choices you make in the game that are impossible to undo or recover from.
You can never spec one direction and lose access to another direction.

How do you propose one recovers from -10 standings to any empire then?

1. Join corp aligned with the faction you wish to gain standings with. 2. Tag along with friends in said corporation during they're missions. 3. Once your standings are high enough begin running missions by yourself. 4.???? 5.profit

Shared missions never give faction standing increases and if you're below -2.0 faction standing you can't talk to agents of that faction so positive corp standing won't help.

Edited by: KISOGOKU on 07/06/2008 20:18:37 1 empire will be painy but doable trouble is if you have double negative standings -5.0 .Low caldari standings work for amarr ,low amarr standings work for caldari (same for gallente/minmatarr standings) but problem is youll have both -5.0 probably this is why ppl wanted (specially mission runners) adv. diplomacy or something like it. i think wwhile mechanics designed CCp never thought you can change corps move to another region etc. edit: Im not sure if you can recover from -10

You can maintain positive standings with all major factions by carefully planning your missions. Actually working for one faction and shooting another will quickly undo all that work.
