Excuse me if this is a known problem, i looked on knowledge base but didnt see anything relevant.
I just started eve yesterday and i think i have a sound problem.
when the ships engines are on it sounds like the sound is played for 1 sec then repeated again and again with a short pause inbetween.
it does the same when warping... sounds like an Elephant with the runs or something, it goes thuuurp thuuurp thurrp thuuurp.
also the jukebox doesnt work either.
however other sounds, like when going thru a stargate, seem to be fine.
I can make a recording of the sounds if you wish.
I have dx9.0b, win98SE, 1.7ghz amd, 512mb RAM,geforce 4 ti4600, and creative labs soundblaster with Live! drive
i've never had a problem like this before, any ideas

I have a similar sounding problems and i have the latest drivers.. sound seems to lockup somehow, seems to be associated with the voice announcements in EVE. sound plays normally for a while and then for some reason it stops making voice announcements, some sounds disapear and a little while later it will try and play all at once (well thats what it sounds like). Ive loaded the latest drivers (OEM SB fitment), ensured that Mother board sound is off, reinstalled EVE etc.. etc if i use ventrillo while eve is running after a while it locks up as well. BTW it only happens with eve,..
Can anyone give me a pointer here.

Click Start -> Run -> Type "dxdiag" and wait for the WHQL driver check to finish.
Then click through the tabs along the top and check for any problems (indicated near the bottom of the window).

unfortunatly it seems i spoke to soon.
ok when i install drivers i have to restart.
once thats done, i can play eve fine.
but the next time i turn pc on the sounds will be messed up again!
yes it seems to be a driver problem, so i guess im gonna have to remove all traces of old drivers and try a clean install of new ones instead of simply overwriting them.
i just find it odd that eve is the only game to have problems, well apart from EAX problems in HALO but im not the only one with that bug.
Ohhhh i hate drivers so much

I am having the exact same problem with sound. The sound worked fine the first time I played it. scince then all the engine sounds are chugging and nothing seems to fix it. All other sound is uneffected.

control panel>>>>multimedia>>>>>the advanced tab on your soundcard>>>>>>settings, turn the hardware acceleration down to basic. also another trick is to start eve again while its still running "just dont log in" then close the one that the sound is messed up in and log into #2. tomw _______________________________________________
