Are corps utilizing cover opts ships in any real implantation? I am fairly new but I like the idea of stealth and shadow behind enemy lines. However being fairly new I am uncertain as to what kind of carrier my character would have in the covert opts arena.
Anyone have some informed 411 on this subject . . .?
My aspiration as of today is to either join a corp or start one that offers specialty services in a pay for hire role. Is this out of the ordinary or would there be a place for a character like this in the eve universe?

Cov ops are part and parcel of small to medium gangs and up. They are the ideal scouts for any situation, and a good scout is worth it's weight in Isk.
On the other hand, I would never trust a hired scout, simply because of the vitality of their information. As such, a corps for a renta-cov-ops would no doubt fail miserably. On the other hand, you'll always be welcome in any corps that has a need for scouts (which is to say, all of them).
Becoming a good cov ops scout is not easy though. Doing the sneaky-creepy is one thing, doing it well for the rest of the gang is something all together different. And then there is the fact that you'll probably, if you know what you're doing, not end up on the KM. Some don't like that much.
It's a good skill to have, certainly, but paying someone for the skill, out of the question. Mercenaries simply can not be trusted. -- Quis custodiet ipsos custodes? |

Their probing abilities coupled with warping cloaked are extremely useful. A roaming gang can have a very hard time finding kills without a cov ops unless they stick to gate camping.

Definately get your cov ops up, it helps later when you hit recons. Also, if you want to be a help and not train too much more, train for interceptors. They are widely used as well.

Covert ops are incredibly useful in just about any combat situation, both for scouting enemy positions and arranging warp-in ambushes. Unfortunately, most of this is done by corp alts outside of very small outfits, so being a sort of professional scout wont be easy. _________________ [IMAGE REMOVED] -- aka Cpt Bogus -- Is that my torped sig cloaking your base?

Yup.
For business purposes, covops boats are great for exploration and also make excellent, damn near gank- proof blueprint couriers. They're not completely invulnerable, but I like 'em better for that purpose than anything else I've been able to cook up. (*edit* It's worth mentioning that none of my BPOs live in nullsec so I don't have bubbles to contend with) ___________________________________________
