Factional Warfare Battle Journal
Day 1
Hi, my name is Vanessa Sarum and I am the 15th daughter in my family line. I am 22 years of age and I am here to tell you the story of my life.
It all started 10 years ago on a small backwater planet named Kudi II. It is located in the Yekti constellation in the Domain region. Because I was so far down the line of succession, I was given the option at the age of 12 to either sign up for the Amarr navy or goto school to become a pod pilot. I have spent the past 10 years training and learning to be a pod pilot in the naval reserves. Two days ago, I finally graduated with honors. I came second in my class.
At the age of 14, I received my first set of control implants and started to train in the pod simulator. During the first week of usage, my class of 24 students was reduced to 14. Three were out right deaths from students not being able to "unplug" from the pod, and the other seven were left comatoast as they were suffering from mindlock. My first time in was scary right up to the point I first jacked into the training pod. I only missed one target in the combat part of the sim and scored perfect on basic piloting.
Over the remaining 8 years, I finished mastering my basic and advanced piloting skills, as well as the basics of space combat.
I have yet to enter space as a full blown pod pilot, but this is at the suggestion of my corporate sponsor. I was picked up by them in my eighth year of school. They are collecting the last few pieces of a care package for me. It will contain equipment, a punisher class hull, and some books to continue my education. They also suggested it may contain some enhancement implants. I intend to get some real pilot time in and then join in the war against the Minmatar.
My pilot codename is Bast's Cleric. And I am Amarrian. This is my chronicle of a young woman's journey through war. -

Day 2
Today I spent the day fighting Blood Raiders and Sansha Nation for various agents. I am slowly becoming more known to the empire and soon will be recognized enough to be offered a commission in the 24th Imperial Crusade. It is slow going and I have used up most of the 10 million ISK that my corporate sponsor provided me. However, I have already earned most of it back. I spent the ISK on buying some Sansha copper tags for an agent.
My sponsor has provided me with many other tags to use as barter, but as of yet, I have had no opportunity to use them. I may have to spend some time at a data terminal to check the values of them and see what kind of trading could be done.
All in all, it has been a productive day and I look forward to my furthering of the holy cause. -

Day 3
Bit slower today but I managed to earn some spare ships. They are an Executioner class and an Inquisitor class hulls. I really don't know what the agent was thinking when they handed me the paperwork for the missile boat, but hey I can always sell it.
I have been thinking about forming my own corporation and have so far scouted out a quiet place to call home that is near Kudi. I guess if I am going to form my own corporation I need a suitable name. Something flashy but respectable.
A friend of my sponsor has started helping me gain more renown with the empire. They have access to better agents than I do so I am tagging along to provide support fire and become better known in turn.
If anyone has some spare Sansha Copper Tags that they are willing to trade for I would greatly appreciate it.
Todays missions appeared to be a lot of rogue drone. I wonder how they have made it so far into the empire from the drone regions. Thankfully my Punisher Class ship has the armor to withstand a fair amount of abuse. I prefer to fire on live targets however. Fighting rogue drones feels to much like target practice back in school.
Finally we had some Blood Raiders to kill then we had some Guristas. Not very common in the empire and for them to risk entering that deep into the Empires space they must have really been worth it. And to have been involved in removing their presence felt good.
While working on my journal today I decided to form my own corporation. The 24th Imperial Reserves [24ir] Once I have my renown high enough to join the Imperial Crusade I will see if there is other like minded people who wish to fast track to helping the crusade.
Again if there are people reading this journal that wish to provide help it will not be turned away.

I must say I much prefer fernite carbide or crystal carbon over faith - their effectivity against lasers has been proven, whereas faith's has not. As for wrecking havoc, I prefer thermonuke triggers - again, a reliability issue, you'll forgive me. I'm sure you'll understand - given from what I've seen of it so far (read: not much), I can't really trust your god's ability in terms of the wreaking of havoc, especially in a tight spot. -----

Day 4
Started the first full day of my corp running freight around for various Amarrian corporations. Not the most glamorous of jobs but its quick and easy. Lets me spend time looking over what I have left to get done before I gain my commission.
Pretty much all I have left is to decide how long I want to stay in my Punisher class frigate for. It is a solid dependable ship and I don't have any complaints about her so I may take the time to learn how to fly the newer versions of it. I have heard good things about the Retribution class.
My corporate sponsor was kind enough to provide an additional 50 million isk towards to purchase of Sansha copper tags. This covered the cost of 30 of them. I have since picked them up and taken them to the same agent as before. While it is not as honorable to have purchased them rather than have killed for them, they are proof that less Sansha Nation pilots are around causing problems for the empire. However upon returning to the agent I was advised the tags are a one time hand-in. Thusly leaving me with tags that are currently no good to me. I will have to sort through the tags I do have to see if something can be done.
I have also recently upgraded my Punisher some with the addition of a pair of Cap rechargers. This has reduced the negative effect the armor repair system has had on the ships capacitor.
Having now returned to my office I proceeded to count what tags I do have. The counts stand as such.
1x Angel Bronze Tag 1x Angel Electrum Tag 8x Dark Blood Copper Tag 1x Domination Copper Tag 1x Dread Guristas Copper Tag 1x Guristas Bronze Tag 1x Guristas Copper Tag 1x Guristas Electrum Tag 30x Sansha Copper Tag 1x Sansha Electrum Tag 1x Serpentis Palladium Tag 2x True Sansha Brass Tag 4x True Sansha Copper Tag 2x True Sansha Gold Tag
With such a collection I may get lucky and find an opportunity to trade some tags to gain the ones I require.
Some random person wired me a few million Isk with a note attached to purchase the tags I needed. I have done so and sent a letter of thanks to this person. I have as of yet to deliver the tags to the agents asking for them but I will be doing so soon.

Day 5
Slow start today. Handed in some tags and my neocom says I am rated 0.49 with the Amarrian Empire. So close and yet I have so far to go. So it looks like I need to continue working for the agents I have been working for to earn my commission. Soon is what I expect.
Well today will be a short entry as that office work is piling up and needs to be addressed and I have some pirates to deal with.
I have started to make myself known to people currently commissioned in the crusade. Asking questions, doing the research. Lots of information to absorb but worth every byte. -

Day 6
Again with the mission running. Had my agent hand me more missions. Blood Raiders, Sansha Nation and some more Gurista. Also I am starting to think my agent has it out for me. He handed me a mission he was calling Recon. The first part of it was not to bad. I enlisted the aid of a command ship pilot to help me by drawing off fire. He did and excellent job of dealing with the 10 cruisers that warped in on us. I am still flying my frigate so this made me start to wonder. The next part was to investigate a acceleration gate near a mining camp. We got lucky and got out of there before the mercenary guards engaged us. Then the final part is he wants us to check an other acceleration gate that is in the middle of an old toxic waste dump site. The command ship pilot went ahead on that one and warned me not to enter the site as that the cloud of waste was fast eating his shields but his armor was holding fine. He reached the gate and radioed the findings to me so I could forward them to my agent.
I am taking the rest of the day off to contemplate what the agent was trying to do. Either he is trying to teach me something or trying to kill me. Either way I am not happy with him. -

Day 7
Started to run yet more missions today. Found a series of agents that need some encrypted documents to people. Its not good money, but it is doing the Amarr Empire a huge favor. This is in turn getting me noticed higher and higher up in the ranks of the empire.
This is working out for me very well. I now have a high enough personal standing to get a personal commission but not a corporate level one. I just have to work at it a little more and push it up a little more.
Well back to my ship. Have to get back to work.
See you in space. -

Day 8
Had an issue with my neocom today. Aura refused to let me access my pod unless my implants were checked out and the clone imaging system was re-certified. Turns out she had good reason to get me to check them out. There was a fault in the interfacing port on both my implants and in the clone triggers. It would have caused my clone in the event of being podded to have been clinically brain dead. Having reviewed the security footage with station security the culprit was soon identified and dealt with. Being a member of the Sarum has its perks at times. I was given the choice on how to deal with him. Oh while I think about it. The culprit was a Minmatar "slave" that did not exist on any of the station registries. Station security feels he was a member of the Thukker tribe as well as being a extremist. Either way he will not be able to bother anyone again. He "accidentally" fell out of an airlock.
Anyways I managed to get my listed personal standing to the Amarr Empire pushed up to 0.77 today with the corporate one currently listed at 0.41. Aura says it will soon be high enough to apply for a commission for the entire corporate entity.
Not much more to say today, I have an appointment with the implant specialist in a few moments to have my implants replaced.

Day 9
Slow day today. Spent alot of time outside the capsule. Had a mountain of paperwork to do in preparation for my Imperial Commission. Also, I spent some time on my home world today. I was visiting friends and family. I had exclusive tickets to see a live concert. The group that was playing call themselves "The Tragically Hip". The show was quite enjoyable.
I have discovered a rounding error in the official DED standings system reporting. The system is reporting that I have the correct standings with the Amarr Empire to receive my commission however when I apply for it I am informed that I do not have the correct standings. My true corporate level stands must currently be 0.499 and not the 0.50 that my neocom is reporting. I find this quite frustrating but I will endure. I have asked my corporate sponsors with assistance with my standings and they have sent out a representative to gather items from cosmos grade complexes. These will greatly enhance my standings and speed up the process.
Well not much more to say right now other than safe travels and may Gods light be with you. -

Day 10
My commission was delivered today.
All praises to the one most holy and all praises to the Empress.
I have moved my belongings to a secure location on the front lines and I am ready as soon as the paperwork clears. The time has come to place an end to the Minmatar rebellion. Soon they shall feel my lasers on their hulls as I take my place in the golden fleets.
I spent the day preparing and securing resources. Putting in place arms and equipment caches around the battle lines in preparation for needing to quickly re-arm and reload.
I feel a need right now to explain a few things while the technicians go over my pod and implants one final time. These journals are being released with a 2 day lag. So that any fleet battles and operations that become public knowledge will not be compromised. Some details will continue to be blacked out. Like the locations of my staging points, and the staging points of allied forces.
I fully expect to die for the Empress, as well as kill in her name. Jamyl Sarum is not only the Empress but she is the head of my family line. It is my duty and my honor to bear her proud name to the front lines and to bring death to the enemies of the Empire.

Day11
I have moved my corporate headquarters to closer to the front lines. The 24th Imperial Crusade has provided me with office space and a corporate level hanger. I have started to move all of my assets to this station. Its a long flight to move all that gear. Additionally I can only fly a frigate class vessel. I have started to look at training for cruiser class ships and well as destroyers and industrials.
I have been involved in some light skirmishing today but nothing too serious yet, well at least so far. As the day progresses we will see what I get up to.
I engaged in combat with some other Amarrian Pilots. Sadly we were out numbered by at least 2 to 1. My punisher was lost. I have already replaced it with an identical ship and have an additional 2 more in reserve. I have heard word that the Caldari have started to raid actively into Gallente space and are sowing terror into the allies of the Minmatar.

Day 12
Started today out slow. Entered my ship and fired up the local comm channels. I was docked at a station in a contested zone, and the local comms showed that I was the only commissioned person in the area. There were 12 comms being identified, one was myself, the other 11 had their IFF coming up as Minmatar. I sat in my ship for a few moments before I decided to undock and make my way back to my corporate office. I made it in one piece and did not see any contacts on the trip. I was more than a little surprised.
When I reached the office I then proceeded to check the job boards. An agent was offering a mission deep in Minmatar held space to provide support for a small Amarrian recon force. I accepted the mission figuring I could dodge the worst of the fighting and get in and out quickly. What the agent didn't tell me is the ship that I had to deal with was a battle cruiser class and had a cruiser and 6 frigates for support. Not to mention any Minmatar militia that happened to wander by.
Now to make a point here I was still flying my Punisher class frigate. Any one of the guns on the battle cruiser would do not so nice things to my shields and armor, but to have the other ships involved as well left a bad feeling in my gut. After having scouted the area, engaged and destroyed 2 frigates a pair of Minmatar militia pilots warped to my location. One was in a Rifter class frigate and the other on was in a Battle cruiser. I fired up my warp engines and started to do standard evasion while calling for backup on the empire channels. When it was obvious that no backup was en route I headed back to headquarters and politely told the agent to go fly a kite.
Today I have learned the downside of the war. And I have found myself under powered to handle all the threats out there. I believe I shall be sticking to stuff I can handle on my own or in small groups. At least until I have more experiance under my belt. -

Day 13
Today started well. Discovered a major Amarr naval base and helped defend it. Once they had their sensor cloaking field reset they thanked me and I went on my way. I continued to patrol my assigned area until I ran into an Amarrian listening outpost that was having problems with their systems. I stayed until their systems came back up. Shortly there after I received a mail from the Amarrian High Command informing me of my promotion to Templar Lieutenant.
This is great news and I am happy that the empire is recognizing my efforts. I expect that as I grow more accustomed to being involved to fighting other pod pilots. The training in school covers the basics of combat but does not cover fighting other pod pilots. So it is all a learning process.

Day 14
Today was a busy day but short. I started my usual system patrols and found three capture points that had been contested by the tribal forces o the Minmatar. So I warped to the first one on the list and joined the defense picket. Very quickly 3 Minmatar pilots showed up and removed my ship out from under me by gun point. Yes it blew up and made some pretty sparks. I escaped in my pod and made it back my HQ and quickly fitted out a second punisher, my third one for the war.
I then put out a call for backup in the Intel channels. We gathered a fleet and went back in. We destroyed their ships, however they appeared to have sent up a support call of their own. The local comm channel spiked to over 30 people. All of them Minmatar pilots. Needless to say yes we lost that battle. And I got podded to boot.
At this point I decided to cut my losses and call it a day. |

While I cannot agree with all the reasons behind it Lady Sarum, you fight for your convictions and beliefs. For that I salute you. Hold to your Faith in God, and remember His mercy. Be honorable to your foes and friends alike, do not take wanton pleasure in the havoc you wreak, but do not shirk from it (the havoc, not the wantonness) either if that is what you are called to do. Hold to your course, Lady, and you will have done all that could be done, and need bow your head to no one.

Day 15
Updated my clone today to ensure it stays up to date. Started to look around at the markets to find some of the stuff I need to replace my lost ships. Thankfully I am just using standard stock parts so it is very inexpensive to replace lost equipment.
Once I refitted 3 more ships to have a reserve again I discovered that I was short some laser crystals. I grabbed one of my armed ships and headed out to do my patrol route. Found some capture points on the scanner in my first system and proceeded to do my duty and defend them. It was a quiet process for the first one and the second. The tribals must have been busy in other parts of space because I have not seen one the entire patrol.
Once I had complete the first system I moved onto the second system on my patrol route. I found a major site on my system scanner so I proceeded to the site and fell into the usual defense routine. Again it appeared it was going to be a quiet patrol. I enjoy quiet patrols. It continued to be quiet for the rest of my patrol today. It was nice. |

Day 17
Slow day on my patrols. The first system was still fully under Amarrian control. And there was no capture points on the scanners for the other systems. This make me kinda sad.
Later on I preformed my patrol again and failed to find anything of note yet again.
Even later in the day I joined a large fleet and started to preform much better. We found some complexed and secured them. Even invaded Minmatar space and captured some there. We got into some fights, made some kills. I lost yet another frigate. And started to train for cruisers. I lack the training to use the correct lasers on it. But this means I can fit more armor on it.
I also received a promotion again. Cardinal Lieutenant now.

I'd advise against using a poorly-armed cruiser over a similarly-armed frigate, pilot. It tends to result in a slightly-delayed but more-expensive explosion, not to mention the deaths of at least a couple hundred crew. Cruisers are also not as good at bringing that weaponry into range or escaping trouble.
Good hunting, in any event.

Day 18
Well today the militia has been useless in helping other members of it. I trained the skill to fly cruisers yesterday and was in the process of moving one to my HQ and was ambushed on a gate. It was fitted out with extra armor but when I called for help no one came. This shows that while some members of the militia have bravery not all do.
No matter. I have done some looking around and have the ship replaced already. I have fitted it with Quad lasers to be more of a threat to frigates as that I will be using alot of armor plates on it.
I wandered over to a local university and picked up a few more skill books to expand my abilities. If I spend some time I will be able to fly cruisers and battle cruisers soon. Then I can start doing those crazy missions that the agents keep handing out.
I have decided to not start flying the advanced classes of frigates. They are expensive ships and until I have a reliable form of income other that looting wrecks it would not be worth the expense.
I also participated in a large mixed fleet today. It was fun and enjoyable. When the Golden Fleet forms up its a glorious thing. We fly around looking for complexes to capture and fleets to fight. Eventually we ran into the lead elements of a tribal fleet. We stopped to engage them and the rest of their fleet came in to engage us. We managed to down a majority of their battleships before the started wise up and engage smaller targets. My frigate was the 3rd to fall to their concentrated fire. I escaped in my pod back to my HQ and readied my next one. However I was given instructions to not undock. The fleet quickly disbanded due to people being unable to quickly replace the larger ships in the fleet.
I stayed in HQ for a while longer refitting and setting aside more Punisher class hulls. I have again run out of capacitor recharger I.
There is a sad lack of them in this neck of the woods. If some merchant wants to make some isk supplying the war effort they can start selling stuff where my corporation is headquartered. About 1/4th the militia forces are based out of the system so selling all standard T1 equipment and T2 ships and gear will net you a fair price. -

If you like flying cruisers then i strongly advice to try out the Arbitrator. It is a very versatile ship which is usefull in fleets of almost any size.
