Now there's yet another thread about fail fittings in losec. One would have thought that 50+ threads on laser/salvage/tractor/smartbomb-fitted machariels was quite enough to conclude that some people just couldn't recognize a decent fit if it worked it's way up their urinal tract with clamps, hooks and nylon ropes...
Incidently, once they've learned their lessons, I suspect it's the same ppl who come here to post the inevitable "zomglmfao@stabbed rattlesnake" posts of nber-pwn six months later when they think they're the kings of PvP for having figured out how to assemble a nano-gang of @-holes. So, we've come full circle.
So... How about a thread for those truly awesome setups outthere that gave you a fight to be long remembered? The monster fits that tanked you and your mantrain for 30 minutes before finally succumbing to your superior l33tness? The little rifter that beat the sh*t out of your three 'ceptors one by one or the thrasher that one-volleyed you 300m wonder-crow?
Let's hear it for those who took half of your blob to hell with them! Let's hear it for those times when you thought you were the slick mofo and almost ended up on the dinner plate yourself.
Post them here. Don't forget: No names, and no direct links to killboards.

i'll never forget my first encounter with BE and their cloaking, damping cruise ravens... haven't lost a ship to them personally, but they completely trashed my former alliance.

I recall a silly little Vexor rolling a corp mates bait can. I decided to teach him a lesson. I uncloak in my shiny new pilgrim at about 3k and drop dual webs on him. My drones ripped through his shields so I decided not to bother taking out his drones first. He had 0 cap after about 5 seconds of fighting so there was no way he would be able to rep up.
My drones started eating into his armor... and I watched in wonder as... well... I could barely see his armor move. By the time I thought to kill his drones I was half way into structure and wondering how the hell he was tanking so much damage. A later convo with him explained things a bit more clearly. Between his slaves and massive armor passive tank... I had severely underestimated him. It was an awesome fight and I learned not to underestimate Gallente drone boats again.

I used to frequent the Frarn/Rens area, and got my start in PvP by flipping cans in belts. I met this character, and we both had Wolfs (I know the proper term should probably be, "wolves," but I digress).
Anyways, our first interaction was a duel between our two Wolfs to pod. I was fairly confident in my setups (we duelled multiple times over a period of time), which were intended for PvP....tackle gear, armor tank, etc. He ripped through me half the time. It was absolutely brutal. My shields were melted by about 3 volleys, and my armor tank was simply too weak to stand up to his damage. To this day I don't know what his setup was, though he did reveal to me that he frequently used EFT.
He melted my face.

back in the day of D2 i was moving a mega out to hakonen, was warping to the gate just before low sec and i see a domi on scan, and just as i drop out of warp he justs through, im like oh well just a domi... (i had no scout) i jump through, domi agresss, neuts webs scrams and cynos a carrier onto me, and starts spewing T1 ogres at me it took them 5 minutes to kill my fully wtf tanked mega with ogres, thats with the domi neuting the crap out of me aswell, i made it to 3000m from the gate then a mrym bumped me off, then i got back to 3500m and i popped :P damn it was funny though, the carrier pilot would have lost about 100 drones in the process

One might argue pro- and con- ion blaster setups vs neutrons, but at the end of the day, nothing could be said about this guy's setup except he was at the wrong place at the wrong time. His rapier friend dropped him into a heap of trouble as he was scanning our gang down sitting uncloaked next to his probe, and he landed just in time to see the rapier die and the thoraxes come out of warp.
He tanked us for probably ten minutes with our falcon dropping cycles on him twice. Both times, my plated ishtar was in low armor before he was jammed again on the next cycle. Numbers on eft says he tanked a good 1000 dps with that thing, each centus rep doing around 1500 armor points pr. cycle - and it only rly died when he ran out of cap charges. By far and large the most frightening tank I've ever seen on any ship of that size flown into combat.

What ceptor would that be?
Still, setups like that can surprise the h*ll out of ppl.
I flew a plated/LG slaved rifter for a while - and it can come as a nasty surprise to the best of people when that little rifter turns out to have 1500+ armor points.

I wont bother taking the **** out of other peoples, so I will do mine instead.
When I was a noob I used to use railguns on a rupture and projectiles on my thorax. When a mate bought me a dominix I used lasers - I loved that dominix.
Well thats guns taken care of. Next one was dumb ass tactics I used to try to employ. Everyone and I mean everyone flew caldari missile boats with cruise missiles, Caracal was particularly nasty, so i fit my thorax with an auto targeter and a gun to try and pop em before they landed....failed tbfh
I think I got my act together after the thorax thing, but I lost a fair few ships in those first few months.
As an after thought, I tried using tracking disruptors against a scorpion when I was in my rupture, it looked so small so I thought it was a cruiser....well thats how I lost my first ship

After having graduated from using a punisher for belt piracy built for taking down caracals(and taking on two at a time solo and coming out on top a couple of times) I lost ALL respect for the things. I was in my shiny new vengeance fitted with my UBER-PWN-TEH-CARACALS setup, on my way to my favorite hunting spot(Tama-Hysera) when a random scan revealed a caracal in a belt.
Drop of of warp, BURNNNNNNN to the caracal, scram web F1-4, turn on rep, browse forums. Bring eve back up and I am in deep structure. He had assault launchers. He had flameburst missiles. I had a kinetic hardener instead of plugging the thermal hole. Had never run into a caracal that BOTH had assault launchers AND had non-kinetic missiles in cargo....

Heh, my idea is to use as wide a variety of missile damage as I can... Sure, total damage would likely be down, but you'll never be invulnerable. Now, once I get some age on this char and some ISK to blow on hardware, I can actually try it ;) - - - -

The actual setup didn't include a MWD even, just a web and scram, but that's pretty damn hard to get around not fitting anymore... ------------
