Like the PVE trailer that recently came out said, mastering PVE isn't end game, if anything it's just the beginning because you've found out a way to efficiently support yourself for what makes EVE EVE, PVP. |

That's odd. I have about 4 times as many SP as you do (you imply 20 million), and I can only fly Caldari ships. Of course I can fly them well. I'm strongly disinclined to fly a ship before I have a hull skill of 5. And I've got my support skillz to 5 too. Just about all of them.
Now I'm maxing out drone skillz, and thinking about trying the Tengu, or Gallente ships. EVE isn't dead for me yet. I haven't been able to play much lately, but thee's plenty left to train for m.

At 77Mish SP I still have a ton I neeed to learn. Being a jack of all trades hasn't helped any, but stopping short of cap ships and focusing on getting all the ships below researched, the ability to fit them properly, and even branching out into ther other races (minmitar and caldari mostly, don't have a draw to ammar for some reason). You learn new styles, tactics, and things you didn't know you need to research (Damn Specialization skills for each size).
The game offers soo dang much it is unreal and unlike those other games where you hit the skill cap and then just endgame all day, in EVE at 20M to 100M SP, you can have a purpose in PvP as well as make some sort of impact through the entire game, it just takes the right time/place/activity to happen. If I helped you out, Technical Issue,-áenemy gank, popped your poor fit,-áhit the "Like" button. |

Badly would be my guess WoW holds your hand until end game, and gives you a cookie whether you win or lose. EVE not only takes your cookie, but laughs at you for bringing one in the first place... |

I think I have more than 20 mill in just ONE racial hull tree at this point, with a LOT of work still to do on everything.
Focus less on choosing hulls, train your support and survivability skills, and spend more than a couple hours doing any one activity before you give up on it!
Also, play in groups, it's an MMO after all. Fleets = fun even if all you do it sit around at a safespot and talk about exotic dancers and the Damsel.
Bolded the pure gold advice. Support skills and friends. These sure can and do make the difference.

It basically came to the point where he had maxed everything in the skills he wanted, and so just trained everything else so that he was training something. He's currently working on all certificates recommended for ships.
He really only uses about 3 ships, and has everything related to those maxed.

welp, at least you posted something original The American public's reaction to the change was poor and the new cola was a major marketing failure. The subsequent reintroduction of Coke's original formula, re-branded as "Coca-Cola Classic", resulted in a significant gain in sales, leading to speculation that the introduction of the New Coke formula was just a marketing ploy |

From your post, it looks like 80-90% carebearing. Of course you're going to get bored. I'm at 100m+ SP and I still do fun things... By PvPing. There is always something to do since I can do many things in eve. Not bound to just PvP, Industry, and PvE.
Since you're a carebear, might as well train for hulks and mining director skills for leadership? While you're there, you might as well train Orca to put them leadership skills to use. Several ways to improve your carebear whoring. Don't forget Tech III or logistic ships and faction story line.
Or you can quit eve or retire temporarily. I am willing to take your stuff and put them to good use. :)

20m sp is kinda meh for the game. You're on the cusp of having much more flexibility pertaining to ships you can use, roles you can fulfill. With that said...
Could I offer you the opportunity to try w-space again? I can offer you a cooperative experience in w-space. While I'm not keen on giving away the kitchen sink in the form of roles that circumvent good security practices, I do go to extraordinary lengths to support my members' goals. I've kinda stuck to one race with 23m SP and I'm starting to get the hang of it. I am nowhere near perfect with flying the Gallente race perfectly. By perfectly, I mean everything you need to fly and fit a gallente ship to 5. I'm almost capable of flying a carrier. I can fly the gallente ahac tomorrow. I fly one pirate frig. I got the t2 mods now. I think once I have my carrier, can jump it the 50 bazzillion light years for one isotope, I might be willing to learn to fly amarr next. But like I said, I want to be perfect with gallente before I go branching out to other races. I am kind of wanting to skip destroyers though. I really hate flying destroyers. While I see the use of the bubbles, I just can't find any motivation to fly that ship. |

Funny - I started an alt I afk train to have some fun later this year and I came up with a basic skillplan I am currently training that gives the char decent fitting, support, drone and gunnery support skills before training any specific ship or gunnery skills.
It's far from being all V, includes no drones bigger than t2 scouts, no ewar, RR/energy transfer skills or subsystems - just a reasonable plan for a future frig/cruiser pilot.
The plan ends at around 21 mill SP, which is when I start to train some basic frigs and guns.
I'm not recommending doing that for newbs and yes - you can be effective with really low SP, but the funny bit is that the op feels his eve-life is ending at 20 mill SP because he's seen it all, whereas my alts eve life just starts at that number. |

if you can fly most non-cap ships with only 20 SP you're obviously not going to be very useful in most of them. How about solo-ing W-space, or trying your hand at Incursions. Or how about turning 180 degrees and going for piracy, FW or joining RvB? Or perhaps trying your hand in the rather vicious arena of EVE-PvP called 'market&industry'?

OP is accurate, at least in the title.
20 mill is around 8 to 10 months and after that you begin to see what we see on the forums. All the "oh but" but, but, but plug excuses and justifacations for failure. I have SP, I have ISK, I have Ships, "You are doing it wrong". You always have to do "other stuff".
The poin the OP is trying to make is, after 8 to 10 months the core mechanical barriers melt away and the but plug excuses kick in and you never get over those barriers to move forward in EVE. |

Now...insert forum hounds comments. [/quote If you get tired of eve, then you know nothing about eve! I been playing for 5 years, theres still a lot left to do. You need to stop asking for your hand to be held every step of the way in the game by the missions. Do pvp and be somebody
When you can think outside the box and be whatever you want then you can have the most fun in this game. I use to solo pirate in lowsec and small gang pirate for most of 2011, lived in w-space too mostly for the pvp. Was the most fun I had in the game. Wish I had more time to but real life gets in the way. But that just makes months of training time go faster and makes me more isk faster in a way. I build and trade. I haven't touched a mission in 2 years and I have ten's of billions
Your giving up prematurely on eve when you have nothing. I have like 83 million sp and have mastered most sub caps on every race. That means specialization on every weapon at 4 everything else on level 5, tanking is all maxed out to what matters, I have over 20 million sp in just ships. But I have about 30 million sp in all weapon systems to back it up with as well as tank and core skills. There is so much for you to do still. The best part of eve is pvp, too bad you don't do that. The game is pvp driven. Once you find a role for yourself the game will be so much more fun
I chose a path on the dark side of the force.
Why have I been playing eve for 5 years? Because there is always something new to do, always a new goal to get to, and always something new added into the game.
If you can't play eve for free by now, your doing it all wrong. Eve is free for me. I have nothing to complain about. I don't pay a sub while I become more skilled in ships. I also have flied most ship in the game into pvp. I am not the best by far, there are 5000 people who are better then me who have 10,000 kills. I just have a little over 1000, but you could be somebody one day too just like that
After college I will prob play eve like I use to. lol Until then I become richer! XD |
