You don't need your system locale to be set to english. You can only change it to the EVE client by adding export strings to startup script or by running it with: env LANG=en_US.UTF-8 LC_ALL=en_US.UTF-8 wine blablabla |

At the moment, I am running ElementaryOS Jupiter (Based on Ubuntu 10.10) and Wine 1.4 RC6.
Hope that helps.
Same problem: worked yesterday, today R6034. This fixed it - many thanks Shadow.

Running with an out of date ubuntu. I started to get the "runtime error: R6034" message and I was able to get past it by changing the library settings in Winecfg to: msvcr100 (builtin, native) msvcr80 (builtin, native) msvcr90 (builtin, native) msvcrt (builtin, native) At the moment, I am running ElementaryOS Jupiter (Based on Ubuntu 10.10) and Wine 1.4 RC6. Ubuntu 11.10 and Wine 1.4 rc6 here.
Had the same runtime error
Had to setup all the vcrun libraries as seen above. Also install - reinstall directx: -> winetricks d3dx9. Directx sealed he deal.

I had it, so I switched msvcr80,90 to native, builtin and the update worked.
And to launch the game, I had to switch them back to builtin, native. |

Changing language worked for me for python27.dll error as of 14.03 before the DT patch. However after DT patch my Eve client is messed up again :))
I stop trying to make it work. Every single small patch since Crucible 1.5 i make it work after several hours of googling stuff and sitting in console trying to make something out of it and then comes yet another small *patch* that is released to supposedly fix the issues and it completely screwes everything up all over again.
Queue set for 3 weeks so i'm going to take a week or so of break and i'll go from there. Good luck to you all |

If the patcher fails to download the patch, revert to (native, builtin):
msvcr10 (native, builtin) msvcr8 (native, builtin) msvcr9 (native, builtin) msvcrt (native, builtin)
It should download and patch up fine. But in order to play the game, you'll have to revert back again:
msvcr100 (builtin, native) msvcr80 (builtin, native) msvcr90 (builtin, native) msvcrt (builtin, native)
Worked for me. And as a side note, dear developers, why not just use crossplatform framework like Qt or GTK? |

I tried almost everything in this forum with no success. In the end wine update fixed it. So for Ubuntu 64b 11.10 following setup was working ... at least for today release of launcher and eve ;) * Wine 1.4-rc6 ... previously I had for some reason 1.2.3 and this version was never able to run eve (various crashes depending on dll setup) ... 'apt-get install wine' fixed it * installed: winetricks dlls vcrun2010 * Wine DLL overrides set to builtin, native for msvcrt, msvc80, msvcr90, msvcr100 * running: LANG=en_US.UTF-8 LC_ALL=en_US.UTF-8 wine eve.exe ... otherwise launcher fails on date parsing This is working setup for me. No speed change detected, but I have disabled sound because it was and still is causing freezing/lagging rendering. (Launcher itself was always working for me ... before I started with fixing eve. I already have all patches applied so I can't test it, lets see how patching will work next time with setup above.) |

Nothing I try gets me a working launcher. It does start, it is downloading the patch but crashes at 50.2% in python27.dll ...
I do give up for now ....
EDIT: copied the 2.7.2 windows stackless python dll, still the same crash |

The language changes are necessary in case using different locale settings as default (for me german locales are default)
Yes right, desktop emulation is not part of the solution just pasted the start command I am using. |

Did not work for me.
With these settings: msvcr100 (builtin, native) msvcr90 (builtin, native) msvcr80 (builtin, native) msvcrt (builtin, native)
-¿The program launcher.exe has encountered a serious problem and needs to close-¿
Directly on startup.
With everything on native, builtin I get an R6034 Runtime error.
Any solutions? Running Linux Mint 12 & Wine 1.3 |

As far as I know / have tested: Wine 1.3 doesn't do it anymore. You need to upgrade to 1.4. At least till today's upgrade.. launcher throws an exception in the python27.dll. |

wine version has nothing to do with the python exception, I had 1.4rc6 and got the carsh. had to start with a clean wineprefix and only the program files directory (no user data). |

I'm getting the same problem. No luck so far with any of the solutions that have worked for other people.

Ok, I did the winetricks stuff, and native/builtin (and reverse). the repair tool seems to be working, however, eve.exe does not.
