Well been having the a different launcher issue from what everyone seems to be having but here goes nothing at trying to get it resolved.
I totally reinstalled eve yesterday from manual download, but still could not get launcher to run. I can get eve to run by going through the BIN folder and launching the EveFile.exe located there and by repairing it every time I start eve again.
This morning I was messing around and just deleted the Launcher file out of eve directory and hit the repair.exe to see what would happen. Repair.exe repaired eve by putting the launcher folder back in and when clicking on the shortcut from my desktop it launched and worked fine.
Logged in and then logged out and closed the launcher and tried to restart it again and got this error message in an exception box.

Dragooneye, while you at least have a way of playing the game, have you tried deleting everything in the 'cache' folder inside the launcher folder? I haven't had your problem but I'm noticing that the files in that folder don't like to resync with CCP's servers. |

So yesterday I managed to get it all working after a couple of days of messing and 'hacking', then this evening I get back to find that there's a new patch, except that the Launcher now exists unexpectedly. Luckily though there's a backtrace, which is pointing the finger again at python27,
Yesterday those like me who are running Eve via WINE will recognise python as being a culprit for a number of headaches, but I managed to overcome those at the time, they were also a different error from the launcher process.
Today running the 'launcherconsole.exe' process reveals that the launcher crashes while inspecting/patching 'common.ini' I have filed a bug report for this defect under No. 130373.

THanks for the advice...instead of deleting the whole folder I went for just the cache deleting it from the folder and that corrected the issue. Not a great work around but better then some peoples problems....now if CCP can only fix it .
Edit: Seems from hurrying and deleting certian files the only file that is causing the problem is the win_launcherinfoTQ_inc file. |

Will try a reboot and run again PS Just an observation.. I do not know what you have done to the launcher files, i have checked today the launcher.exe and launcher_console.exe. The header in hexa now is 4D5A which is usually a classical exe. Back when the launcher was not working i am sure that it was something else in the header because i have checked it.
Read about the ESET AV thing. Have it myself. Disabled all AV solution including protocol content filtering, uninstall eve, reinstall a fresh one. Started as usual, it updated itself, launcher worked, updated the game to last version. Game launched successfully.
Case closed. I consider EVE<->ESET faulty working together as the root cause of 3 days of debugging.

Graphic problem!
3 days ago I was a happy panda playing eve in 60-ish fps.
Then I patched to 1.5, it worked, logged in and I have 3-8 fps in space, starts a petition filed under "Graphic problem". Next day I see a new patch, patching works nice, log in, still 3-8 fps. And today, next patch-on-the-patch-on-the-1.5 .. so I was eager to see if it's solved, still 3-8 fps and no reply on the petition.
I can just imagine how much work you have these days, but I'm now a sad panda.
I use a iMac (OSX Lion), 3.06Ghz Core 2 Duo, 4Gb 1067Mhz ram, ATI Radeon 4670. |

I think it is OBVIOUS to anyone by now that CCP has FAILED .... BIG TIME
What is adding insult to damage done is the LOFTY ARROGANCE blatantly displayed by CCP when failing to acknowledge or adress this BREAK DOWN of the whole game
The OBVIOUS ( and INTELLIGENT ) SOLUTION to solve issues would be :
To ROLL BACK THE CLIENT to the previous Version
and then do some more homework and testing on any new Versions ..BEFORE it will be release
It is for me incomprehensible that the Owners of EVE Online CCP do not realize that their game by now is close to its final demise having stolen endless hours from players who faithfully and enthusiastically
have been playing and supporting EVE ..for many years
And still there is NO REAL SOLUTION to the problems created by the new Update
and the various news bulletins dropping from CCP from time to time
.. now with that explanation ... then with another one . and then a third airy suggestion ... as well as all kinds of fancy " work-arounds " DOES NOT INSTILL CONFIDENCE
I for MY part will NOT do anymore attempts of installing the Client
BEFORE i have guaranties from CCP .. that it will work
... that it will not damage my compute
... that it is free of malicious softwar
In case THAT will not be forthcoming ... I will ask for my money back
... and start doings something else in my precious spare time |

Hello
I thought I'll make my conribution to the problem reporting.
Scenario as follows:
Desktop Machine, Windows 7: Everything fine
Laptop:
WinXP SP3 with latest updates as of 15.03, 2GHZ DualCore Intel CPU. Wiped the old install of EVE completely, including all local caches and registry entries. Could not use online installer, resorted to manual download and install.
Launcher responds with: "No connection could be made to the content server. Please make sure your internet connection is up and restart the launcher."
Launcher Console gives the following message:
Debug: src/helpers.cpp(140): 'CreateActCtx' failed with error 0x0000007b (the filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect.) INFO - logging started INFO - server address: 'tranquility' INFO - Getting Info from http://client.eveonline.com/patches/win_launcherinfoTQ_inc.txt
Then it stops.
Running the repair tool (latest version from today with --disbale_selfupdate) results in an error:
File "repairTool\progressPanel.pyc", line 83, in _TaskRun File "repairTool\repairUI.pyc", line 97, in Start File "repairTool\repairLogic.pyc", line 174, in Repair File "repairTool\repairLogic.pyc", line 294, in Restore File "repairTool\repairLogic.pyc", line 367, in GetRepairUrl File "repairTool\repairTools.pyc", line 231, in GetRepairInfo File "repairTool\repairTools.pyc", line 143, in SafeUrlOpen URLError: urlopen error [Errno 10061] No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it: 'http://client.eveonline.com/patches/repair_info.txt'
This can not be an issue of my connection because both machines use the same router. I have all firewalls and antivirus software disabled (and am not using ESET)
Starting EVE from the bin folder works, so that is not a high priority issue, it would be nice if anyone could shed light on this problem. I have searched through forums and saw that some (but not too many) people have the same issue. Interestingly enough several Mac users.
Well, I guess I'll hear it soon enough.
All the best with the fixing, debugging. |

I'm having a similar problem. It is triggered by opening the fitting window in one of my clients when I have 2 clients running. Doing this kills the fps rate and makes the clients almost unusable. This did not happen pre 1.5. I'm running Win 7 on Intel with a beefy ATI graphics card; it's hard to get more mainstream than that. |

may CCP burn in hell. I have spent two hours screwing with their BS work arounds for defective software. I have six accounts I am paying for that I cannot access. No it is not my hardware. is is your POS client software. rollback, and let me play while you fix this abortion. and why is it you feel the need to rollout these changes every couple months? how about just ironing the bugs out till it works right and let us use it that way for awhile.
I'm not going to waste more time. your "repair software" does not. Looks like I'll be looking for a new game soon.
and what is all this launcher crap anyway. Let the game run like it always has. |

I have no antivirus software installed at the moment, but the launcher downloads up to 25% and then restarts, looping until I close the launcher. Monitoring the launcher process in the Windows Task Manager, the memory allocation just keeps getting bigger. The latest repair tool also does not do anything. The repair log says the following:
Exception in thread Thread-2: Traceback (most recent call last): File "threading.pyc", line 530, in __bootstrap_inner File "threading.pyc", line 483, in run File "zsync\readFromUrl.pyc", line 117, in DownloadPart File "zsync\readFromUrl.pyc", line 136, in _DownloadPart File "zsync\zsync.pyc", line 762, in callback FileSyncError: data corruption

I have 3 clients installed and it does the same with all of them
Trying to run the ExeFile directly from the bin folder gives a Verification Failure stating that the "C:\....\bin\_PyFreeTypeP.dll" file is not found.
I'm running Win 7 64bit. |

I can log into the game, but when i undock, the ship dont show any of the fited modules.
Simple question, how the heck can i bit.ch slap the launcher, to update?
Ps. there should be an manual update button on the launcher, so if it dosent automaticly update, pressing the button solves the problem.... |

Mine days v1.09, but it pulls information from the 'launcher/cache' folder, file win_launcherinfoTQ_inc.txt. Its possible that your client is in fact up to date, but all the information that would tell you that is stored in that folder, and that file at least on my end will not automatically update with CCP's versions. I don' tknow why, it isn't a permissions issue on my computer as I always run the launcher in Admin mode, and the folder is not set to read only. But if you either A: Delete that file and restart your launcher, or B manually edit that file, the launcher should show itself as being updated. |

Day 1 Day 2 Day 3
At the end of Day 3, I successfully installed patch 351477, which allowed the client to launch and login successfully. I thought my troubles were finally over. Boy, was I wrong!
Day 4:
I fired up the client, and the Launcher proceeded to revert 351477 back to 350962! What happened afterward was Days 1 to 3 all over again! In other words:
1. Opened Eve Launcher as admin and clicked "Play".
2. Once client has launched, Incompatible (Protocol) message appeared beside the login text fields. I noticed that the client version on the top left read 350962. The Dialog box appeared titled "Ready to Update" and said "the update has been downloaded. The client will now close and the update process begin". Clicked ok.
3. Update setup progress dialog box appeared and appeared to finish with no errors.
4. Opened Eve Launcher again and clicked "Play".
Steps 1 to 3 then repeated itself, just like Days 1 to 3. As of this writing, the Launcher version still read v1.09. I hope v1.11 (which is supposed to be out today) addresses the problem.

Grroooooaaaannnnn.....
I very nearly had this problem last night when my client crashed and I attempted to relaunch the launcher. The problem once again lies in win_launcherinfoTQ_inc.txt. When it calls ClientUpdate: BuildNumberInfoFile: The value it is receieving back is the value for the old patch, where as its supposed to be the new patch. If you change the URL it calls with the same file, only with the right information on a seperate server and still have the .patch file for 350962 to 351477, you can fool your launcher into needing an update. The update process will fail, but the 'import' tool will work and you can import the .patch file to get your client up and running. |

The problem is not with the UDP stream itself, it's with anything that does protocol filtering such as your router in the case it's doing SPI (Stateful Packet Inspection) filtering or many firewalls which do protocol filtering.
This just isn't true. We're using HTTP range requests and rsync over HTTP
rsync over HTTP is still UDP packet streaming. The protocol has no error correction bits and sends packets out of order. What I said *is* correct. A proper launcher should have been using a torrent stream and this would have avoided the problems you guys are causing. As it stands you're asking people to have to turn off vital security tools in order to get the game client. You had two months to address this issue when it was posted on the Sisi forums and nothing was done to take this issue seriously.
CCP Cascade wrote: This however is true and we urge those who are running into problems with ESET NOD32 to contact customer support and ask them to release an update to the software.
ESET isn't the problem here. CCP is. What you fail to understand is that even if ESET sends a patch out you still have issues with SPI over routers which will look at rsync and throw up errors at it as well. When you are using a protocol that has zero error checking and can and does send packets out of order, do you sincerely expect that this is the end of your problems by asking all of the companies such as AVG, ESET, and Nortons to release patches to fix non-issues in their software?
You make this sound like it's just ESET that is having issues but as we've posted in this thread, it extends beyond ESET firewalls..
CCP Cascade wrote: This workaround which was posted early morning on the 14th was to resolve various other issues people were experiencing and many have reported that this worked for them. Data corruption which is what a lot of people are reporting now can be the result of firewalls and non functioning routers and other causes which we are still investigating. We're very much trying to help people getting this issue and getting to the bottom of the problems they are experiencing.
You know, I understand that you guys are trying to address other issues as well. But let's tell people exactly what issue you *have* fixed with the patches you're coming out with. Let's stop assuming that you've fixed the problems people such as myself have had. I say that because people that are posting the same errors I and those like me have had, your people keep telling to do the same thing.. Reboot, do this and that, try to download the repair tool again.. blah blah blah.. It doesn't work because you don't have a fix..
In summary, stop taking credit for fixing things that WE the community came up with the workarounds for. Stop trying to blame the firewall companies because it's not them that made the mistake. It's CCP that made the mistake.. Stop using rsync, it's a UDP protocol and whether you're streaming it over HTTP or not, it's still not designed to send error free transmissions from one end point to another. SPI router filtering as well as firewall packages are doing their job. Use a torrent protocol which streams over TCP and has error correction bits in the packets.
Problem solved for *many* people.
Thanks for playing. |

Have you tried launching eve.exe from the bin folder? THats the client itself and bypasses the launcher completely. |
