Some clients seem to be getting permission errors when the Launcher is trying to update a file that the client uses. This has to do with the privileges on the Launcher. We are working on an update for the Launcher that we will deliver as soon as possible.
In the meantime, we suggest you try running the "Eve Online Launcher" shortcut as administrator (through right-click). If that doesn't work, try to use repair.exe to update your client. |

I double checked that I didn't have EVE already running and restarted the launcher; same problem. So I tried manually deleting that file; however Windows couldn't delete it either, telling me that Google Chrome(!) was using that file. So I closed chrome and lo and behold, the update continued and completed successfully!
This was on Windows 7 x64.
I had the exact same issue as the user above. Closeing Firefox and redoing it worked though. Now everything updated / installed fine..

Done this 5 times now.
Where can I manually download the .patch file from and import it? Would be the easiest option but on the website there is no longer a download option for patches page, says I HAVE TO use the launcher.
The .patch file is essentially a delta of your local client and a "master" on our servers. As such it's essentially install-specific. If you're having trouble with the Launcher, we'd recommend that you run it as administrator, or try using the Repair Tool. Hope that helps. |

How can I tell what version of the launcher I have installed? I presume that it says the version when it is launched but I'm just getting an error message when I launch it (win7 pro 64-bit). If there is no other way, can someone post the crc32 or md5 file hash for the latest version of the launcher so I can tell if I have it? |

Running the repair tool or launcher as admin does NOT fix the errors that we're posting.
These are errors that were posted repeatedly on the Sisi forum regarding issues with people failing to be able to get on the test server.
It's amazing that these issues were not addressed considering the number of people that were posting about this in the first place.
I'm sure if you guys would bother to take a look, you'll see that I as well as others posted about the errors we were getting trying to connect to the test server.
Administrator privs do NOT fix the issue. The repair tool does NOT fix the issue. Are you getting this? Look in the Sisi thread about this.. You'll see this was an error that was foreseeable had you guys taken the time to actually read the test forums. |

Morning all,
K, patch update started several versions of startup for EVE.
When i did close all the other one's, restarted the client, says node not available, no links work from the client, one time it says it's online, then doesn't connect me, freezes etc etc.
Enough of this, what the **** is going on, spent 1.5 hours trying this.
Is the server up or not, are we having major problems or not......
Some information would be appreciated.......
Thanks |

Don't get me wrong I know you just don't come up with a solution like poof right away. But atleast let us know what's going on and if you are going to let us patch manually or we have to wait it out.
We're aware of the transient permissions errors that users are receiving while attempting to patch. This is something that we're actively looking into, and will deploy a fix as soon as one is available. Thanks for your patience. |

Please give us a link where we can download the patch, without using the crappy launcher ****

Here we go AGAIN!!! (Gettting really tired of patches that mess up things. Then wait 1 week before bringing it out to do it the right way pfff)
I just tried updating. I got to see the new launcher (1v.05) but within a few seconds the exception catches an error (It basicly says it doesnt got excess to a file because a process is using it. Program Files\\CCP\\EVE\\resCharacterCreationBackdrops00.stuff)
GRR, WTF well the damm draft save thing works -.-, but forums fails at recognizing HTML. Tried posting the exception here but it wont except it. Now I am really thinking of just leaving this game.

Dear Dev
Just followed your suggestion and both the shortcut and the repair.exe still didn't work and popped the same message, apparently these files (launcher.exe and repair.exe) wont be able to patch other files in the same directory while their processes are active.

For those who download eveonline_349998 and the two 7z files.
Forget running the launchers, eve.exe, and repair.exe tools.
Try this. Goto eve\bin folder. YES it is eve\bin folder. locate evefile.exe and double click it.
no more patches which doesn't work. Maybe CCP will sort that once its proven working at later. |

It seems that I can trash all fittings with renamed modules and start saving fittings from the ground. Thanks CCP for renaming modules, which was never a problem till now. -.- |

Thanks CCP for renaming modules, which was never a problem till now. -.- Never had any problems with the old names.... but noooo. Its confusing for the "new" players, wish in most cases are just alts of veteran players anyways. Just a tip. Use EFT and have all your fits in there. That way you can export all fits to a external file and import it in the client at anytime.

I'll try it but I'm a windows 7 user and I've been reporting errors regarding the launcher since SIsi started throwing fits and I was unable to get on there.
So not sure that this is going to resolve anything. No matter what permissions I give it on Win7 it fails miserably. |

Launcher, Patch, and client update installed ok. Enter game, and talk to an agent: Conversation window opens, is blank, and after 10 seconds or so the client crashes with the standard "Executable has stopped working" windows message. Clearing the cache did not resolve the issue.

Hi,
I started my eve gaming like I normally do, I clicked on my EVE .exe, the start-up screen popped up and told me there was a client update available. So I updated.
After update I tried playing, I got some error telling me to run repair, I did that. Got another error telling me the client was not able to run on 64 bit systems.
I uninstalled are re-installed EVE. I double clicked on the launcher, it automatically started updating itself, after download it started updating, during update at step 3/7 I get a message that says errors occurred.
I run the repair tool, I get the errors occurred message.
