The idea is pretty simple. Once a week run a script during down time to rotate all object in the system but leave pplĘs bm where they were. Ok simple but might take a far bit of time to do all the calculations.
The idea stems from that we all have and make these bookmarks and they last forever. At some points in the game they are a blessing. Moving around enemy territory killing thing warping in and out of a belt in a hauler with no travel just leaving things in space to pick up later. At some points they are a curse. Enemies moving around, trying to catch someone with bm all over the place.
Now I love bm donĘt get me wrong. But it would make game play more interesting. Fleets could not warp in and out of regions with 3 month old bm. Thing like interceptor and frigates would become really important for scouting and making new bm constantly. Thing could not be left in space for and infinite period of time with out say a beacon on them.
If you chose to do this even moving thing only 1 km a week would make good bm useful for at lest 1 month but not forever. Personally I think 5km a week would be great.
Well thatĘs my bit. Take it as you mite

good idea... however would not technology be equippped to move the bookmark with the orbit? A simple maths program can do that.
I roleplay... there is this computer game called "Earth - The First Genesis" where i play a character in the early 21st century. |

can't say i like this idea. bookmarks are a big time investment when you're trying to get huge amounts of minerals from point A to point Z. it's bad enough that i had to remake my route due to the highway changes (which i like, don't get me wrong), but to have to remake the route every single time... argh. nope, too much. can't say i like this idea at all. 9 points out of 10 for realism, but minus several million for draging the fun factor down to subterranean levels.

all system should have rotating path around the sun, so the system never look the same after a few months.
Wouldn't your bookmark be screwed if you where in the real world?
I like the idea of planet and station having revolution -------

Now, what is going to happen in Shiva when you build your station, but you don't place it at a moon. Somewhere in the middle of knowhere. In time, you can't find your station back? |
