I saw someone from it post on CAOD a while back, but I'm just curious because the story of their megatheft was what got me interested in Eve, but I haven't really heard much about them recently.
Also the search function on Eve sucks for any background info.

What have they done recently? Just out of curiosity. Or is part of the charm that you're never quite sure what they did? I'm just saying they sound a lot like one of those boogeymen stories that you tell to n00bs about how filled with monsters and child molesters 0.0 space is.

I have seen a few posts where they claimed they made "10 bil just yesterday" or "20 bil just yesterday" but I haven't seen them publicly claim responsibility for so-and-so corporate heist or scam. They also have a recruitment post running.

Stole a Mothership from one of the IAC members, and tried to sell it to a third-party. Ended up getting scammed on the deal.
Lost out on chance to nick a second Mothership, while doing this.
After the story was broken (two huge threads in CAOD), Tyraxx tried to escape his local space in a ship loaded up with billions of gear. Lost his ship, after being whacked by angry IAC pilots.
All ties into GHSC, but nowhere near as spectacular as that legendary "Heist".

Just to correct this, they did manage to get the second mothership. They risked getting scammed (and of course did get scammed) in order to be able to get it. They stripped both of the modules on them though and sold them and the remaining mothership.

Yah, I think you're right.
Jim Lovell (sp?) was first MS pilot to get nicked from.
I'm going to have go find those threads again. Was about 3 weeks from initial "MS stolen" thread to the revelation thread.
Would certainly suck to be any pilot involved, but the threads were a lot more interesting than most of the current rapidly-locked alt-posters. |

This may sound silly, but I'd say CCP owes quite a bit to GHSC. Their most famous scandal brought in tons of accounts from what I've gathered over the years.

We stole the first one, loaded with officer modules. We had only one pilot at the time capable of flying Wyverns, that being myself. IAC had not yet noticed it was gone - and then we spotted the other one. If we wanted to steal it, we had to move quickly and offload the first one. So we stripped it of officer gear, and started looking for someone to sell it to.
We wanted to sell the bare hull for 12 billion. Tyrrax decided to take a chance with morris, who paid 1.5 billion up front - and simply didn't give us the rest. Them's the breaks in this business. However, getting out of the first Wyvern allowed us to steal the second just before the alliance went into lockdown, which had even more officer gear on it. This Wyvern, once stripped of officer gear, sold for 16 billion. We then caught it in space immediately after the sale, and ransomed for a further 5 billion.
The officer gear and capital stuff we took from both the Wyvs, by the way, was worth a lot ;)

Impossible to know how active/rich the GHSC are. Istvaan claims he has hundreds of bil I believe, though that's impossible to verify. I also believe he said something about having a new generation of operatives recently, but I can't remember. They love providing forum drama though so they're pretty awesome in my book.
