Hello,
for me the patch with the launcher isn't working neither. I'm also in a infinite loop. My anti virus and firewall is disabled. Also the repairtool doesn't fix the problem.
Get this stupid problem fixed CCP.

I absolutely LOVE how the ratio of PAYING member posts to DEV posts on this particular forum is 0.01 to Eleventy Billion. Thanks guys. I'm gonna give it a shot, I still have some hope left... must be a Minmatar thing.
Location: Houston, Texas, USA Hardware: Gateway OS: Windows 7 ISP: ATT Uverse AV: AVG
I have no traces of any other program that might be interfering with Eve this drastically. This is erring on the side of ridiculousness and reminding me of the movie Idiocracy. All jokes aside, since the implementation of that new fangled amazing Launcher, Eve bit the dust. I wasted 8 hours, patching, re-patching, repairing, re-repairing, uninstalling, reinstalling... I even downloaded the manual Payload installers... to no avail. Eve would not run. Finally I found a work around by going into the bin file and launching Eve from there...
And then yesterday, wouldn't ya know it, a new patch released... oh the joy I felt. /sarcasm So I spent all day yesterday doing wash, rinse, repeat to try and get Eve to run, still no luck. Here I am, 25 hours later doing the wash, rinse, repeat... and the /bin work around isn't working anymore. I've done just about everything except for throwing my comp out the bloody window... because I realize it's not my comp... IT'S CCP.
DON'T RELEASE A NEW BUILD IF IT ISN'T GOING TO WORK.
Sorry, sleeplessness gets the best of me. And I'm not sorry. I have tried everything... the glory though is that now I get a message saying that Eve "cannot connect to the server. Try checking your internet connection." HILARIOUS! I NEVER thought of THAT before... I mean, I'm on the forums and googling stuff, maybe I'm NOT on the internet and THIS is SOME SORT OF PARALLEL UNIVERSE?!?!
Amazing, just... flipping amazing CCP. And congrats to all you attentive Devs out there really busting tail to resolve our issues, glad to see someone on that side is doing something. So I'm reinstalling, (wash, rinse, repeat) and I guess I'm gonna disable EVERYTHING on my computer just to get EVE to work.
Today is a good day. Fly safe everyone who can actually play... although if you're reading this, you probably aren't flying... so type safely? I have played WoW, COH/COV, and several other MMO's and NEVER in my 10+ years of gaming seen this sort of chaos and general failure on a company's part. I get that Eve is a "complex game" with "cutting edge graphics" and "blah blah blah, yadda yadda yadda," but really? I mean REALLY? Get you act together CCP or else you're gonna start losing A LOT of paying members. Maybe that's why the launcher sucks so hard, because a plethora of already paying members quit and so now a hamster is running your office and patching things with bubblegum and duct tape.
This may be antagonistic, but I figure since no Dev is going to read it, that I would just spend the time complaining while throwing out a few specs in the hopes of getting my problem solved. Enjoy your Fancy Feast CCP.
Good. Day.

I'm going to add my two cents in here because this is getting ridiculous
I have two toons - this (combat) and antother for Jita marketing
I use my combat char at home and marketing toon at work
At work and at home I have two identical laptops both with cloned systems
At work I have super paranoid IT security and I'm able to update EVE just fine
At home where I have no security and my connection is directly connected to ISP node I get all the errors previously mentioned by others
The funny thing is that the ISP for my work and for work is the same |

can you send the phone of your paranoid It security? maybe he should tell CCP what to do...
second time this problem for me. the first time I could workaround the problem because some friendly soul aoutside of CCP provided the patch files for download.
now, I tried turning off the firewall antivirus and all. the repair tool could work and it tell me it completed successfully! HURRAY! right? nope... now eve does not start because it says something is corrupted... and I runned directly fromkbin folder...
lets try a full download and see what is the next error CCP saved for me...

The funny thing is that the ISP for my work and for work is the same I agree that this is ridiculous; why depart from a system that already works? If it isn't broken, don't fix it. I'm thinking about honestly unsubscribing from EVE until they can come up with an installer that works just as well as their originals. No point in paying if I can't play. I have a skill with 39 days left on it anyway. That should give'em some time. |

The 22 March update failed to fix my problem.
My launcher doesn't loop anymore when it gets to 25%, but appears to complete the download and then throws up a whole lot of errors. Different problems indicating that it is getting better, or worse?

I'm completely baffled by this. My husbands laptop works just fine. I went to log in today on my laptop and the program wouldn't launch AT ALL. So, I tried to repair, which seemed to work - so I launched the program and now got an error message. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling - which FAILED, which led me to this forum. After scrolling through 10 screens of gibberish, I did see 1 thread that mentioned VPN. So - I tried connecting to my work VPN connection (still through my same internet connection, so still going through my same router, etc) and I'm installing right now. I will be seriously pissed if the only way I can play this game is while logged in to my work VPN, which really goes against work policy as well as the fact that it makes NO SENSE. Additionally, I consider myself somewhat technical, but after reading this whole post - is incredibly frustrating. I should not have to have a masters degree in coding and networking to install a game! Where is the "average user" resolution that says "error message XYZ? Click here to download a new file". This is really discouraging. |

When you use VPN, traffic is encrypted effectively bypassing any packet inspection software your router or ISP may be operating. It however does not bypass any software firewalls you have on the computer, or that operated by your VPN provider (i.e. your employer)

Unfortunantly for the rest of us without a VPN (free ones dont count because let's face it I'd hit the download maximum pretty quick trying to download software and play a MMO for however long it takes CCP to fix this) that isn't a solution for us. Thankfully starting EVE from the bin folder worked for me but for some even that doesnt work. Of course that also means that when the next patch rolls out everyone having problems with the launcher will probably be unable to download and install the future patch thus completely severing us from EVE because we are no longer the same version as the TQ server. |

Hi I'm having trouble with my launcher when I installed this game. I just started 2 days ago and when I first downloaded this game I had an issue with the game not being able to patch.
Following that I read the forums and tried repairing my game using the repair.exe however the tool just kept relooping itself every single time.
I then proceeded to download the whole installer now from this website (the previous one was from steam) and installed the game manually when the installer told me it could not automatically download the files.
Having done that I tried to play the game only to have a pop up telling me that windows could not run a 16 bit file in a 64 bit environment. I then tried launching the game through the exe file in the Bin folder, this allowed me to play the game which I've been doing for the last 2 days.
The thing is once the game gets updated I'm worried I'll have to re-download the whole thing again just to avoid this issue.
Could some one please help me with this?
I'm running a computer with McAfee anti virus, not the ESET one that is listed in the first post so I'm not too sure if the same work around can be done for my computer.

I have ESET Smart Security and nothing maps to Protocol Filtering on my menus. I click Play from the new launcher and a black screen comes up and just sits there. I let it churn for 20 minutes. No love. I followed your instruction and got the repair tool to run but it didn't fix it. If I disable File Protection and Network Protection in ESET Eve starts and runs everytime. I'm not going to play naked on the internet. Fix this it has worked for years. FIX IT. |

Thank you CCP.
I am now only hoping that there is not going to be any more issues once a new patch is deployed.

DO NOT EVEN use the launcher
open EVE folder open BIN folder run evefile.exe game program directly
WHY DO THIS?
cos the launcher tried to update itself and screwed itself again. repair does not even start ...
either the CEO of CCP is not paying the programmers enough ... OR ... you dont have enough time for the programmers to do this ... either way ... I BLAME CCP ! :p Thanks man, very clever!! A bit of a pain to have to do that but better than nothing. It works great. After working fine for two days after my initial problem this evening the launcher started hanging at 25% again. I uninstalled all antivirus software and turned off the firewalls - no luck. I then followed this advice and it seems to have worked. Thank you! EDIT: Spoke too soon. It now doesn't jump from 5% to 15% and then to 20% before restarting, but gets slowly to 15% and then restarts now.
some one stated in some thread about a data dispatch error from ccp to your PC.
my take is ... keep on running repair multiple times. look at the error. if the error changes each run, keep running till it repair to a state of no error. and u shud be good

For those using Kaspersky Internet security you must pause protection (yes that means your computer will have 0 protection from virus' and hacking) in order for the launcher to connect to ccp's servers.....personally I'm not entirely sure eve is worth my money anymore because I sure as hell should not have to disable my firewall to play your game. |

The title of this Sticky is misleading ... "THERE IS NO FIX"
I HAVE DOWNLOADED THE CLIENT AT LEAST 5 times and REINSTALLED IT OVER AND OVER.
IF NOT FOR THE SUBSCRIPTION I WOULD JUST DROP PLAYING THIS EVE OFFLINE.
EVEN PATCH FILES SENT BY OTHER PLAYERS DON"T WORK WHILE THEIR SEEMS TO WORK FINE HAHA. Peace is the way of my war. |

#9Posted: 2012.03.28 22:46 | Report im not sure if this work around has been stickied .... here goes ...
if your launcher does not update client properly .... or it says client is updated ... but eve does not run ...
1) clear bulkdata (some how there are some instances where old bulk data n new patch data can become cross corrupted) 2) off antivirus (some may have to off firewall) 3) off any other internet service (not sure abt this 1) 4) run repair 5) run evefile.eve direct (take note the error) ... not the launcher.exe (note that launcher somehow is unable to detect if the game client is fully patched or not ...) 6) repeat process 4-5. until evefile does not return a error report and actually runs.
7) return back your other programs to service (ie --> antivirus, torrenters, etc etc)

Thank you CCP.
I am now only hoping that there is not going to be any more issues once a new patch is deployed.
I take all the good things I said back.
The game was working, I resub my one account, CCP takes my money, CCP launches a new patch, and now my problems start again! I am unsubbing the account again now.
An hour per day devoted to getting a game to work?
Does CCP even acknowledge that there is a problem? They have been silent for a long time on the error. Are they looking for a fix? |
