1. fly cheap
2. avoid known mission hubs at all costs
3. live with the knowledge that each time U undock your expensive mission ship might be the last time. The more expensive it is the sooner it will happen.
4. Invest in skills that will allow you to run missions on a less expensive setups.. ----------------- aspiring carebear |

Edited by: Rodsy on 27/06/2008 09:44:25 Edited by: Rodsy on 27/06/2008 09:43:37 Are you talking about being suicide ganked in a cargoship or a combat ship? I guess combat! If you are in a cargo ship: -Always use warp to zero and fit some buffer tank so Concord has more time to come to help. The most dangerous systems are big trade hubs and 0.5-systems that are located on the routes from a hub to hub. Also, train transport ships as very few gankers will be powerful enough to take you down.
If you are in a combat ship: -Use reasonably priced equipment, T2 is fine for missions and suicide gankers will be interested if you use a lot of faction or even officer equipment. Also, be very suspicious about joining fleets of people who you do not trust. Never ever shoot salvage stealers in your missions, they will just switch to a combat ship and kill your PVE-ship.

If your mods are less than 300M-500M, I guess you are pretty safe.

.8 to 1.0 is fairly safe as the have to take you out in around 10 seconds which usually means only one volley. 0.7, 0.6 and 0.5 they have much more time and you will be in trouble if you are targeted. Omni tank is recommended.

Also, get used to the habit of turning on your Invul fields and such when you undock or when you jump through a gate. Most people when they get ganked don't have any tank running. Even when I'm flying through high sec carrying small things in my AF or hauler I turn on the tank while in warp to the next gate. Several idiots have sacrificed themselves on me but would have succeeded if the hardeners had been off.
It is a lot easier to drop a ship with no hardeners than one with them on. Even harder if the ship is omni-tanked instead of fit for the specific mission.

Not it isn't, people should be encouraged to get out in low sec space, but never forced to do so.

Whenever possible fit a damage control. It adds a substantial amount of hit points to a battleship which will usually make you a non-choice target unless you pimp your ship like you would a character in WOW or any other MMO for that matter. ------------------------------------------------- **** You're out of your mind!

This is not nessisarily true. Every now and then I will go sit in a 0.8 - 1.0 (people feel safe there) in a 10 Mil isk gank thorax (Ion blasters shield extenders plates and DCU)and pop haulers that come through. On average I can pop the hauler scoop the loot and still be half armor. The sentries get about 2K HP on me and Concord finishes off the other 7K effective HP, this all while getting approx 3-4 vollies off (5x ions x 3-4shots = dead hauler).
Finally with only 10 mil invested and getting 6 mil after ins. I look fo people with as little as 100 mil in cargo.
Your best bet is to not AP with any cargo, and train transport ships (I don't even bother unless I have a few extra guys with me) -_/-_/-_/-_/- Please return trays to their upright position. Thanks you for riding the forums

That is why he said fairly safe in 0.8 - 1.0 and not completely safe. |
