So... even with everything turned completely down, I'm getting 10 FPS if I'm luck with my pro and ATI 5770... guess I won't be in any fleets tonight.

Ditto.
I've gone from getting 25 to 45 fps (depending on settings) to not being able to crack 12fps even at the lowest possible settings.

i've not noticed a significant drop, but then i'm on a slightly ridiculous macbook pro. when i do notice the drop is when i have 2 clients across 2 screens (thunderbolted second display if this makes a difference ccp), if i have anymore than 2 clients open, i drop from 50-60 to 10-20. |

I'm having the same problems on both a Mac Pro and a MacBook Pro. Since the patch they are both unusable at 4-5 FPS, and the MacBook Pro heats up in record time now. |

Same here. Mac Pro with 6GB RAM, OS X Lion, GeForce 8800 GT.
~50 fps before. ~10 fps now.
Turning down graphics settings does not make any difference. Also noticeable: scrolling out in crowded space doesn't increase the frame rate. |

This is very odd, my workstation has a X1900 card (below min spec) and I get 50 FPS in hangar view (15 in CQ) so there must be another factor to this. It would be extremely helpful if some others that are not having this issue could post their system info as well so we can try to track this down, please include at least OS version, graphics card info and eve client graphics settings.
Another thing to mention is whether background applications have any effect. CCP Gangleri | Senior Tester

Usually if changing graphics settings doesn't influence the framerate in the slightest, the system is CPU limited.
In other words, something in the patch caused the client(s) to be bottlenecked by CPU on your system perhaps?

Hi all,
Can you please file a bug report from in-game (F12 then click the Report Bug button on the bottom right corner).
Please title the Bug Report like so: For CCP Vertex: Client performance logs
In the description please give a brief description on the type of scene you are in (flying in space at a planet, in a station hangar, in a captains quarters) and then take screenshots showing your FPS (Cntrl + F brings up the fps counter).
In the reproduction steps please give a simple step by step instruction. i.e.
1. Undock from the station and warp to a planet 2. Change texture settings to High 3. Notice that the FPS dropped from 50 to 40
I will be monitoring this thread and others for performance related issues but please file bug reports to give us better information.

confirming. I have noticed a significant drop in fps since patch
everything low and disabled is 5-10 fps (tested during mission with structures and clouds) resolution idependant, same fps at 1024x768 or 1920x18080
have two identical Macbacbook pro (drawn to external monitors. Bootcamp client is steady 50+ on same mission (two different characters) with medium shader/texture settings.
i5 2.4 4gb 1066 DDR Nvidia 330m snow leopard 10.6.8
I am wonderign if someone eve is trying to drawn on the integrated intel graphics, instead of the nvidia gpu. (it says its drawing to nvida gpu in the ESC menu)
Since it seems resolution independat (and settings independant)
the fps drop could be not-related to graphic processing, network or cpu overhead? cpu load appears to be similar to before patch.
it is not a ati/nvidia issue. Wondering its everyone with macbook pro's with dual gpus (inte + ati/nvidia)
any iMac's have the issue? |

i have a similar issue but its on windows xp nv GTX295. Graphics scales very badly. If i undock i have around 30fps. In a mission it drops to <20fps. Eve performs now on my gaming pc worse than my notebook. CQ is unusable, dia show (10fps or less).
vsync is off. I tried several driver options and also updated the driver (after_the_fact). Didn't help. Tried other games like crysis, works perfectly on the same system and config.
Installing win7 right now and try it again on a clean setup.

I have fps down to 10-11 from 55-60 with Cru 1.5 and 1.5.1
Model Identifier: MacPro3,1 Processor Name: Quad-Core Intel Xeon Processor Speed: 3.2 GHz Memory: 22 GB Bus Speed: 1.6 GHz Graphics ATI Radeon HD 5870 1024 MB
I've solve the problem using EVE Clonemaker. All the EVE Online app clones fps is like before patch: 50-60 fps So the problem is in EVE luncher it seems to me.

same issues here running duel clients. Pre-patch i was getting 30-40 FPS per client whilst mining or mission running, now down to less than 8FPS per client after patch. Patch also screwed up my duel clienting, now i cannot start the second client properly, i used to have 2 seperate application using the clone method posted in another thread. Now to get a second client up and running i have to launch client 1 twice...

I have more to add on this bug:
As I was trying to type in the bug report, focus was constantly changing from the bug report window to the chat window while I was typing. I had to keep clicking back in the bug report text field to continue entering text in the correct spot.
One of the times I did this (switched focus), the game unstuck itself. I had the frame rate window open at the time and it jumped from 4.3 to the expected 30 or so.
I couldn't tell whether I caused the switch or if there was some extended background thing going on from launch that had finally wrapped itself up. I had something similar happen last night on my laptop when I switched from fullscreen to windowed and back. It suddenly seemed back to normal for the rest of the session. In both cases the sluggish frame rate returned on relaunch.
In my case, the slow frame rate is universal. I don't use captains quarters, but it affects hanger view, space, and even the character selection screen. Everything is just really bogged down and slow feeling.
EDIT: I just left a client running in the background and after about 3-4 minutes of doing nothing it the speed jumped up to normal. |

Well, I've been screwing around looking at the framerate issue, and I've found the entire thread is consuming more CPU, and more RAM than before.
Just to check things out, I did a trace, so here's the sample: http://pastebin.com/BmVNzBkE
I'm running between 15-30 FPS, using interval immediate, shadows off, AA, Texture @ med, rest on low, 1920x1080 90% scaling, shake off, drone models off, trails off, HDR off, Station off. MacPro 5,1 - 2x2.4Ghz Xeon, 14GB 1066 DDR3 ECC, Radeon HD 5770 1 Gb, OS X 10.7.3

I also have something to add besides overall FPS drop: I run EVE in windowed mode, 1920x1080. While docked and in hangar, zoomed all the way in, FPS is 49-51, when I focus to some other application, e.g. iTunes, FPS drops down to 40. And if I scroll my playlist in iTunes, FPS drops down even more to 20
In activity monitor, it shows that EVE is using 1.07 GB Real memory, 90-100 % CPU time while in dock and 1.25 GB memory, 115% CPU in asteroid belt or mid-warp. |

I got the solution for you guys. (At least, it worked for me)
I have a Mac Pro dual quad core (so 8 cores total) and noticed from my iStat menu bar that the Cider was load balancing more evenly over all 8 cores. It didn't do that before and I got 60fps.
Thing is that CPU load balancing can be quite tricky with a native binary so even more so with a virtualized one.
The solution ist to go into the ESC menu and de-select the "Use multithreaded OpenGL" option. Restart EvE and voila, you'll have your original frame rate back.
Another nice thing about going single treaded is that the total CPU usage drops from 120% to 35%. So you'll get a three fold FPS increase for a third of the original CPU usage which means a NINE fold performance increase!!!
Anyway, enjoy your day.

Cannot confirm. I already had it turned off, and I still get a lower FPS. Not the 20% speed some are reporting, more like 50%.
I guess there is more than one issue.

Confirmed higher framerate, about double. CPU usage is slightly less, about 5%.
I've got an 8 core also, but as for load balancing across CPU's, it actually does that via the kernel scheduler. Each thread has a "level" assigned to it, ranging from normal, to realtime. The only ones the cider process can use is "Normal" and "System High Priority". The other 2 are "Kernel", and "Real-Time". You CAN renice the cider application: renice -10 -p 'PID' Or -20, or whatever, just dont drop it too much or other stuff will cease working properly ;)
Also, you can't set processor affinity like you can in windows and some other unix's. -¬ 2011 Facepalm Ops "No, you really don't wanna know." |

Wanted to add my situation and results of some simple testing: First time successfully logged in I was getting 10 fps, tried the uncheck "use multithreaded OpenGL...', restarted eve and was getting 30 fps. Not great but I could live with it, was getting a minimum of 40 fps and more like 50 fps all the time before update.
Loaded second toon, on a smaller monitor (1920X1080), now fr changed to 25 fps for toon I was controlling, 15 fps for other one, when I would switch between toons, fr switched as well.
This isn't too good I think, need a bit better fr to play this game. I'm running:
