That is weird. I'll look a little bit more into it. What happens if you remove ~/.pyEVE directory? Same thing? Maybe there are some weird permissions set on your home directory or .pyEVE?

Yeah, same thing if I remove .pyEVE. My home directory is 700 (rwx), which is fairly normal. The permissions on the .pyEVE directory are 755, which is also normal.

This wouldn't se so hard to implement and it is not such bad idea. I'll certainly considered it. :) But with very limited support. Training time left and few basic information about the character.
I'm going to be writing a perl script to do this over the next few days.

thnx a lot for this tool.
for users and developer. first i had problems to launch it. always was gettin error messages:

I've wrote little patch for skills description tool tip on mouse over.
to use it:
1. Download patch from http://www.tokeiito.eu/eve/skillTooltip.patch Right Click and Save As...
2. Check do you have installed patch program if no, Ubuntu, Debian users can do that by: apt-get install patch
3. Copy downloaded file to pyEVE/src. Directory where pyEVE sources are.
4. patch -p0 <skillTooltip.patch
5. run build.sh in main pyEVE directory.
For some strange error, there are missing descriptions for 3 or 5 skills. I'm still trying to catch it :)

Right now I'm still on my vacation and after I get back there will be a 0.4 version release. I'll take a look at your patch and include it in the 0.4 version if it is not something that we already implemented. :)
0.4 version will bring few new goodies and backend changes. I think it will be ready before mid August.

Ahh yes yes ... The skill training complete is missing  ... Well we will try to make it worth the wait ...
The 0.4 version will come in this month. Some of the nifty requests will be implemented. Maybe you will be blown away, maybe not, but we will try to make it as stable as possible

And yes, skill planer is being worked on. Some preliminary code is written, few helper functions and after my vacation I'll start working on UI for skill planner. Nothing to fancy for a start, with a lot of room for improvement. :) Maybe in 0.5 version, maybe. Right now we are still gathering (and making up) feature requests, filling our Trac DB. When we are satisfied, and most of the things are implemented, first Beta version will be released.
And now please excuse me, I have to rest my thumbs... My cell phone is the only sourc of power around here and thumb typing can be a pain. Lol.

Skill descriptions will have to be implemented in a a different way since Keyrel rehauled skillTree. :) Tooltip for the tray icon was modified, so now it will show if there is a skill in training, level of skill in training. Also you'll see a tip if there is no skill in training and when skill training is completed for current skill.

Instead of early September, we made it in early October. :)
0.4 release of pyEVE with some new changes. Grab it from Sourceforge.
