Any decent Core2Duo couple to a 8800GT will let you play with full effects on and not suffer any visual lag during fleet fights. I run mine in 1680*1050 and get a rock steady 60fps in fleets, it's really not that shocking.

It wouldnt suprise me at all if GTC's were involved, they were short on ISK to procure the thing but had already successfully bid for it on EVE-O, so they needed to raise ISK fast to avoid the deal publically falling through. Which would have been rather embaressing.
But not half as embaressing as jumping into a laggy grid without adequade support and losing it fitted as it was.

My understanding is that the majority of the funding came from ETCs. (Their members like to talk about it.) It's the same source that funded all of their motherships as well. At some point Tusal said "no more", and they had to go borrow last bit of isk. There was no money to pay for fittings though.

About the ETC thing - I find it very sad that people spend so much RL money to play an online spaceship game. It's not as if there are not better things to spend the money on (even giving it to charity would surely be more worthwhile than spending it on imaginary pixels).
I'm very comfortable in real life, decent income etc, but I would never dream of spending even 1% of my disposable income selling GTC's. I think it is a sad reflection on someones RL that they resort to doing so.

I can understand GTCing a bit. I'd much rather spend an hour's wage every month on the game than spend a few hours farming for isk to pvp with.
I think it's really funny about them laughing at the fit, when the razor fitting probably cost more than their entire titan.

I bought well over 1000 GTC (90d) since they came out (lost count years ago), still I spend more ONE night at a nice strip club here in LA :P
