sooo like how do i use handle.exe? it seems to run on its own if you open it
oh and my updater stops at 5.2% gives me the permissions error and just stops doing anything just says client upate was unsucessfull and every time i tried running the repair tool it would get to a certian point and give me an error for that too |

The easiest method of running it would probably be the command line, redirecting its output to a file. Download it to a directory and run it ala:
C:\Users\DonutGolem\Desktop\handle.exe > output.txt
Then, if you could, provide me with the contents of that text file via Pastebin. Please do this while the Launcher is running, and if possible, before and after the error. Thanks!

However i still lost about a day and five hours of game time and 2 hours of skill training (and possibly will lose more if more trouble comes up in the next patches while you fix the launcher and the client). I demand compensation for my lost game time because it was not my fault that it happened, it was CCP's fault for launching an update not ready to be released.
(Ah yeah, not to say that im currently working as a CCP troubleshooter assistant without getting paid) Please don't give him the compensation. Anyone with half a brain in this game knows you ALWAYS expect crap to go wrong at patch time. You ALWAYS have a dump skill in place during big updates. Edit: And so what if you are helping CCP fix the game. Big whoop man. Sorry if you expect money for voting or money for helping someone jumpstart their car but most of the rest of us wont whine when we help improve the game and save resources for development of internet spaceships. I will keep an eye on the forums and the website looking forward to this and for the resolution of the launcher patching issue with the game directory's path containing brackets or rare characters, hope it gets fixed sometime in the next patches. I would like to have the game folder inside my c:\|[]games[]\Steam\steamapps\common\ again to be able to run EVE through Steam again.
Thanks for your attention and support, i will be coming back to this forum thread or the EVE Online: Crucible 1.5 Issues thread again if the need arrives A free PLEX because your computer was not ready for the new EVE installer? Wut?
You realy lost a good opportunity to just read all the thread, learn something, keep it for yourself without making youself looking so bright. lol
You seem to have read something, but if you had read it all , inculding the EVE Online Crucible 1.5 Issues thread before coming here to ***** at ppl, maybe you would have understood that the issue was not that my computer was not ready to run the new patch and the launcher.
The 1st patch (evepremiumpatch349998) was not ready to run on win7 x64 systems popping permission and file conflict errors, and the second one (evepremiumpatch350962) includes a launcher that is not yet ready to patch game directories containing Cryptic characters and, apparently, brackets.
Looking at those facts, and if not suffering from some kind of mental handicap or disease, one can easily conclude that my demand of compensation through ingame ISK or items or account game time extension is more than legit, since it was entirely CCP's fault for the full 30 hours that i was deprived of a service i am paying for because they did not take the caution of properly testing the update before release, relying on naive costumers like yourself who dont mind working for free or getting exploited because they are probably 18 year old playing with their moms credit card and have nothing else to do. |

I have a Win 7 x64 I am running fine.
And no you can't "demand" anything. Especially a PLEX. This is not a contract and you are not guaranteed service. You are in my opinion just the next of the generation of people making demands on CCP because they weren't prepared for a patch to fail. Hell you think you have it rough? When Nvidia changed their SDK that the avatar system was using it shut out an entire line of CPUs that had been valid at that point. Completely outside of CCP control yet that diddn't stop people from whining and making demands on CCP.
Mind working for free? If you hate the game so much that you can't stand giving CCP some basic info to get to help the game then GTFO and give me your stuff. It is not working for free when the game if better for everyone.
BTW. Ever heard of Sisi? This might have been spotted earlier if folks with these situations would have logged into Sisi every once in a while. |

Greedy game corp? You have never played an EA game have you? CCP has had issues but NOTHING compared to many other companies where a single response to their players is a "big event"
Yet who cares. You have unsubbed apparently (I call BS btw. in my opinion you are using PLEX ) In my opinion we will be better off with less players who seriously think responding to a request for debug info should be paid or should be given a PLEX for missing a few days because they didn't bother to check Sisi first.

to put it in less complex terms. If you pay for a movie at a cinema and the operator of the Movie stops the film with 30min to go. Are you going to be happy to get up and go home not seen the entire movie. Or are you going to go to the manager and demand a refund or at very least get them to play the last 30min? |

Hey Zibeltirdus have you tried installing the new patch "evepremiumpatch350962" http://cdn1.eveonline.com/350962/EVEOnlineLauncherInstaller.exe and running the launcher after you move your game folder to a directory without brackets?(removing "\eve online\" and "\EVE\" from "C.\Program Files(x86)" and placing in "C:\" or "C:\Program Files") This worked for me, the launcher was not able to patch, but when i changed directory it patched |

MissileClub, looks like you're having trouble with the eve folders localization too, apparently the launcher isnt able to process some python files located in some directories. When my patching was failing due to the EVE folder path containing brackets, i had the same kind of error reports on my patch_win.exe.log file in the eve online\launcher\cache folder |

Endeavor Starfleet wrote: And no you can't "demand" anything. Especially a PLEX. This is not a contract and you are not guaranteed service
well, lets take a look at what EVE EULA has to say about that
EVE-« Online END USER LICENSE AGREEMENT
Chapter 10. LICENSE
Paragraph E
E. New Releases of the Software You are not entitled to receive any new releases of the Software, or any expansion packs, updates, upgrades or similar products under the EULA, but CCP may, in its sole discretion, offer any or all of the foregoing to you. CCP may update, upgrade or otherwise enhance the Software at any time, in its sole discretion, without obligation to you. Periodically, CCP will require all users to migrate to new releases of the Software in order to continue accessing the System and playing EVE. You will be informed when a new release is available and will have a period of time in which to procure and install the new release. You must install and use the new release before the period of time has lapsed to continue accessing the System and playing EVE. If you fail to install the new release when required, CCP shall not be responsible in any way for your inability to access the System or play EVE, and you shall not be entitled to receive a refund of any prepaid subscription fees or any other form of compensation. New releases could be offered to you at a discounted price.
Now lets highlight these parts here:
"You will be informed when a new release is available and will have a period of time in which to procure and install the new release."
- Hum, ok, we did get informed of the new Crucible 1.5 release
"You must install and use the new release before the period of time has lapsed to continue accessing the System and playing EVE. If you fail to install the new release when required, CCP shall not be responsible in any way for your inability to access the System or play EVE, and you shall not be entitled to receive a refund of any prepaid subscription fees or any other form of compensation."
- Well i did fail to install the new release when required, not because i downloaded it only after a long period of time after it came out, but because CCP enforced an update full of bugs with a new launcher system that did not work on my operative system and only released another one that worked (using some workaround tricks that they did not mention) one day later, causing me to be more then one day offline. Now when the EULA states here that CCP shall not be responsible in any way for my inability to acess the System or play EVE and i shall not be entitled to compensations, it means to be that way IF I AM THE RESPONSIBLE FOR NOT ACCESSING THE GAME ON TIME, which is not the case. IT WAS CLEARLY CCP'S FAULT THAT I LOST MORE THAN 1 DAY OF GAME TIME BY RELEASING OS IMCOMPATIBLE AND BUGGED, UNFINISHED SOFTWARE, making its installation and use mandatory to access the System
Thus we may obviously conclude that in this case CCP is in obvious compensation debt for all of those who lost game time, and believe me, now that you brought it up again, i am not staying quiet on this, ITS GOING VIRAL, everyone bruised is gonna sign this and demand compensation. |

I doubt you can find any game out there that charges a montlhy fee subscription and makes the system unavailable to players. Well yeah, its not like it is a big deal, could have been worse, but that standard issue also includes compensating the service paying clients when they get deprived of it. From the moment you let em get away with small incompetence and disrespect for client rights, it only tends to get worse. Actually i was about to let it go as soon as i could get in the game, but i really hate little pricks coming at me like corporate ass kissing king kongs lol |

Name one MMO that has given the users anything when service was either interrupted for less than a day or two? I have seen it happen when service may have been down for an extended amount of time or when it effected a large population of the userbase, but that is extremely rair.
Remember EVE is a SERVICE. When has your ISP creddited your account when it was down for any sort of time? When has your Cable/Dish TV provider done the same?
None of these services do it unless it is a extremely unique/large scale case. If I helped you out, Technical Issue,-áenemy gank, popped your poor fit,-áhit the "Like" button. |

Are you going to be happy to get up and go home not seen the entire movie. Or are you going to go to the manager and demand a refund or at very least get them to play the last 30min?
Nope not even close. Losing a few days of EvE is nowhere near losing half a movie. Considering the entire movie experience is in one package when EVE is open ended. |

Also that that movie is $12-14 divided by 2hrs. A little different than $15 divided by 30 days... If I helped you out, Technical Issue,-áenemy gank, popped your poor fit,-áhit the "Like" button. |

Having a completely new system bork a bit for <1% of the playerbase for a few days after release to a Worldwide playerbase is pretty standard issue and actually not as bad as it could have been. I doubt you can find any game out there that charges a montlhy fee subscription and makes the system unavailable to players. Well yeah, its not like it is a big deal, could have been worse, but that standard issue also includes compensating the service paying clients when they get deprived of it. From the moment you let em get away with small incompetence and disrespect for client rights, it only tends to get worse Name one MMO that has given the users anything when service was either interrupted for less than a day or two? I have seen it happen when service may have been down for an extended amount of time or when it effected a large population of the userbase, but that is extremely rair. Remember EVE is a SERVICE. When has your ISP creddited your account when it was down for any sort of time? When has your Cable/Dish TV provider done the same? None of these services do it unless it is a extremely unique/large scale case.
The only pay to play MMORPG i have played besides EVE Online was Anarchy Online, and i have never seen it go down for a day or two because they actually test the updates before they release them. Also played free to play MMORPG's like Guild Wars, and the system was never offline for more than a couple of hours for server maintenance.
Well, in what Regards to ISP's, its a completely different service than a pay to play game. Their service failures are not related to the release of improperly tested software for costumer use. And if their service goes offline you CAN demand compensation just like i'm doing here. Just because most people dont bother doing it, doesn't mean you can't. |
