Even with record-high oil prices, about two-thirds of the oil in known oil fields is being left in the ground. That's because existing technologies that could extract far more oil--as much as about 75 percent of the oil in some oil fields--aren't being widely used, according to experts in the petroleum industry.
Somewhat correct, Most of this oil is trapped in the ice in northern Canada, Alaska, Russian and Antarctica, along with it lots and lots of Methane. Which would just be released in the atmosphere, and is a much worse greenhouse gas then say, Carbon Dioxide.
As for nuclear reactors US hasn't built any nuclear reactors for years and have no real plans to _________________________________________________________ My Second EvE Video Club Seals Not Sandwichs

Sure it does. Oil-based power stations account for a fairly vast majority of the electricity produced in some countries (Canada for one) and varying minorities in other countries. If you're generating more of your electricity from Nukes instead of oil (and other fossil fuels, which suffer exactly the same problems), that leaves more oil to use in cars and planes and such, where only oil will do.
And for that matter, most of the things we use oil for ATM (cars, say) have alternatives that can be powered (indirectly) by nuclear power. There are electric cars, hydrogen fuel-cell powered cars (hydrogen fuel cells are manufacture, essentially, from water and electricity) and what have you. If absolutely pushed, you could run a society powered by nothing but nuclear power...
And incidentally, its not about oil running out. As pointed out, there are vast (VAST) amounts of oil on the planet that isn't tapped due, largely, to the fact that its nightmarishly difficult to get at. The thing is, the less "easy oil" there is, the more we're forced on to the difficult oil. And the more we're using the difficult oil, the more and more expensive it'll get. At some point not very far down that road, oil will be too expensive to use for most of the jobs we use it for now. ------

Sorry to say this is incorrect
In 2003, Canada generated 569 Terrawatt-hours of electricity, from a total generating capability of 108,533 MegaWatts. This was generated by Hydroelectric (58%), coal (19%), nuclear (12%), natural gas (6%) , and fuel oil (3%), while other sources such as biomass, solar energy and wind generators made up the remaining 2% _________________________________________________________ My Second EvE Video Club Seals Not Sandwichs

Hmmm...let me see if I can find my source...
EDIT: I misread my source ------

Electric prices are going up also. Just had a vote passed in the state of Virginia to raise the cost of electricity by 18%. Not that that is a bad thing, just going to make it a little harder for those of us that are making salaries behind the 1980's-1990's averages and with raises that do not meet inflation.
