So I was checking it on wikipedia and is wondering, were there ever any trees on Iceland, are there now? Is it a similar story as that of Easter Island, only with Iceland building beer barrels with all their wood instead of raising statues?
Should/would/could have, HAVE you chav!

There are very short trees in Iceland.
When I was in Iceland I heard a joke ...
Q) If you are lost in an Icelandic forest, how do you find the way out? A) Stand up!

I think it's more like Ireland: they used all their trees to build boats.

In Reykjavik, there is quite a few trees actually. But they seem to be planted by human.
For the rest, no trees. I didn't saw any during my stay there.

I would imagine that several factors would prevent there being many trees in Iceland
1) Rocky soil and terrain 2) Large amounts of vulcanism (Lava and hot springs, not Mr. Spock.) killing the roots of larger trees 3) High northern latitude restricting light amounts and growing season. 4) Many years of human habitation making use of the limited amounts of timber there.
Of course, IMNAS (I am not a scientist) but that's my best guess as to the lack of trees in Iceland. Tactical Logistics using the last T1 Frigate hull!

When I went to iceland, when I was much younger roughly 6-8 I only saw lots of barren areas, AND NO ICE! But ya Iceland's barreness is similar to its barren people.

i lived there for 7 years and I can tell you that there are trees (real tall trees) in iceland, you just have to look for them, there is a small wood just after borgarnes on road one, and there are many others, you just have to go looking for them.......

That was a trick to get all the idiots to go to Greenland while the Norse enjoyed the beauty of Iceland.
