Hi there, im sorry if an equal topic that is upto date allready exists but i didnŠt find one.
The Situation we had in a highsec system is the following: A wartarget Skorpion warped to our gate (no ecm fitted) and we got him scrambled and with that aggressed. Ofcourse he jumped and logged off but with having another Heavy Interdictor on the other side we got him scrambled befor he got into emergency warp.
But as if he had no agression timer, he despawned after about 30sec.
Exactly the same happend a day later with a myrmidon... Both were RA Pilots... not that all RA are the same but well :P
Now my question is: have i missed a patch where the aggressiontimer gets reseted after jumping trough a gate or is this an exploit, possibly with login in another char on the same account. The char remained at least 20min in local shown as offline with no skorpion on scanner.
The answers to my petitions were not answering this question so im posting this here. Kind Regards, Shuuki

Not a 'sploit. CCP in their infinite wisdom decided a get out of jail free card was a neccesity for this game. - Violence isn't the answer, it is the question. The answer is yes. |

Not a exploit, its in case someone gets disconnected. Not sure why aggression resets on a gate jump but it does.

ccp can hardly call that an exploit and still allow the log-on trap where a scout advises others to log back on as a victim is entering the system from a gate etc and the gate camp "suddenly" appears.

Qft, this is a pretty bullshit move on their part. But according to the BH I petitioned this to, its an intended feature that jumping through a gate clears all PvP timers, even if you were just shooting someone. So if you ever get into a fight you can't win, just jump through a gate and log off. ------ // This is by design. When a ship jumps through a gate, it clears all aggression. // - BH ******** Pew on gate, if it gets hot, jump through and Ctrl-Q. Game mechanic endorsed by CCP. |

It's not an exploit it's an intended feature. Although it's a pretty crap move on the pilot's part if they did it intentionally. Seen a Passive tank broadsword do this, agresses someone, then realises he can't win so deaggro's, jumps and logs.
I'd like to see the agression per system thing changed, although I guess it might be difficult to do technically.

I wouldn't of thought this would of worked since he got aggor'd on the other side. Or does the gate jump de-aggro for a certain amount of time? I.e. jump through and for 15min you get no flag?

It's not an exploit but is frowned on by a large portion of the PvP community, feel free to name and shame, though that's pretty much all you can do about it. Internet spaceships and all that jazz... ______

Though its "frowned upon" by the pvp community, after spending some considerable effort to get CCP to look at the blatant cheating that is logofski - it became clear they did not give the remotest fug.
So since then, I advise all pilots to log off if they think it will save their ship. Its "ccps game" as we are told many times, and they want you to be able to do this - so why handicap yourself. Its like playing chess but not using the knights because "oh its unsporting to jump over other pieces *snort*"
Please be aware though - when you log your ship back on - you will warp to the same spot - where people may be waiting for you.....
... so we use the next "ccp: nothing wrong with this guvnor" non-expolit. Which is to log in, and whilst you are still ewarping you close the client (best to do this just a second before your system fully loads a couple of times as well).
This moves the warp back in point from where you loged off - to mid ewarp (ie thousands of km away from the gate)
Do this 5 or 6 times (its a bit finicky) and then when you load it the final time - you will be in a SS hundreds of thousands of KMS from teh danger zone of the gate.
Then dock - and smack the guys in local who will be going crazy calling you a cheat.

You think getting a reimbursement-petition was a PITA before, wait until every jock who "loses connection" and gets killed whines about it because the in-game mechanic to stop logoffski was put in place so every person who disconnects stays in place.

While its not an exploit, its definitely a lame tactic to logoffski.
I'm pretty sure aggression works on a system by system basis, once you change systems, poof goes your aggression. __________________________________________________

If your connection is not reliable then you should not be playing, emergency warp should not even be in the game and you should remain in space for at least 15 minutes after you log off regardless of the circumstances.

Thats not the problem. If you lose connection and your ship is gone in 60 seconds, while you're, say, running a missing, warping around where ever, its not a problem.
However, if your actively engaged in PvP, and jump though a gate, then "conveniently" lose connection, its bullshit. Once you get a PvP flag you should keep the 15min PvP timer no matter what happens. It was like this at one point, but they have seen fit to encourage logoffski by clearing any PvP flag with a gate jump/session change. ------ // This is by design. GM has stated that logging off is not an exploit. Isk farmers and such is given a free ticket to rat in belts without any risk at all. However, alot of them log directly in the belts and if u manage, say to aggro them with a smartbomb, you can probe them out if you are fast.

Logoffskis are definitely one of the lamest things you encounter in Eve.
Maybe the system should be tweaked in such a way that you remain in space for 60 seconds after you just jumped to another system?
Totally removing the emergency warp would be a bit too much imho. Disconnects happen even with a stable internet connection.

Agreed on that... My internet won't hiccup at all and I can still lose connection to EVE, rarely, but it happens.
That or my power company has one of their 'random' or 'scheduled' outages at a really inopportune time... yeah, really great reliability from them some times

Logoffski is definately lame but unfortunately it's a valid tactic.
I've been burned by others using this tactic too many times to say I won't use it myself. I've missed out on a couple carrier kills thanks to this tactic (small gang slowly wearing the target down, target logging and disappearing before the gang finished it off).

Dude, the point I'm making is that nearly every person in EVE who loses a ship will start blaming a bad connection. Because, generally, people refuse to put the blame on themselves when it comes to losing their ships. They blame game-mechanics, their keyboards, the reflection on the monitor, the developers, the overpowered modules of the enemy, the lack of help from their "friends", the color of the nebula that distracted them while they were really going to "pwn some n00bs".
Just look at these forums, whenever someone loses a ship to a valid tactic, they come to these forums to whine about it. The logoffski-mechanism, while inconvenient prevents CCP from drowning in petitions from all these brainless zombies that are too weak to accept that they actually made a mistake. I'm pretty damned certain that if emergency-warpout and disappearance from the screen was removed, people would just go proactive on this one just to make a petition (because taking responsibility for eg. jumping into a bottleneck without a scout is just too much).
It's just how it is with a game that has "any" repercussions for stupidity, naturally there is the denial-process coming from a bunch of people who, when they aren't safe and protected in their little pink fluffy protective bubble of nonsense start to wildly wave their arms, write petitions, and ECM/NANO/HIC/TORP/AMARR/NOS/BAD CONNECTION-whines on forums. Just think about it for a second, out of sheer self-interest; do you want your legit petition to end up behind 81284751 of these kinds of petitions? Isn't it bad enough already?
Nah, unless the average EVE-player stops being like the average person, there needs to be these kinds of protective measures; because otherwise CCP would have nothing else to do other than to listen to a sea of wondrous self-defense mechanisms. Unless of course you have a way to get people to collectively smell the coffee?
I have an idea, remove the ability to reimbursement-petition alltogether. In fact, remove insurance alltogether while you're at it.

CCP are not presently "floodded" with petitions from people who lose their connection mid combat and hence die (where this non exploit does not happen)
So i dont believe they would be flooded with petitions from people who "lose connection" in the 30 seconds cloak window.

bored at work here, so thought i'd chime in.
even when i was playing on a very dodgy internet connection in kuwait, i never disconnected after uncloaking at a gate, it was always in that initial 30 second window.
while i don't like it, i can see logoffski as legitimate (if you agro them first, they stay in space for 15 minutes and are SUPER easy to probe out) and the agro wipe after jumping into a new system, IF: A) Warp Scrams prevent you from activating a jump gate B) They fix the hidden GCC
I do understand that pirates aren't exactly the largest ethnic group inside of Eve, but in all honesty, we really have the hardest time with everything.
Now, I do understand, that my stipulation A) up there is going to cause some heartburn and more than likely some flames (maybe not all spoken) but if you think about it, it makes the most sense. It's a module that is supposed to lock down any and all functions of your warp drive (a warp scram, that is) so why should you still be able to use accelleration gates (seen it happen, might have been a bug) and/or system gates? This right here would pretty much get rid of any sting logoffski's have caused, at least in this give scenario. And if you can't kill it in 15 minutes... you prolly wouldn't have been able to kill it if they were still online, either.
As for selection # B, it would just be a nice fix and it's pretty relevent for this topic of discussion.

I guess my shame had to come out at some point...
I logged off in a carrier only to log in a few hours later with 3% hull!
I was already agro'd by a vaga that I couldnt kill so I was a sitting duck for 15 minutes with him...
tbh I think to myself, if he couldn't kill me in 15 minutes of sitting being shot he didn't deserve to in the first place.

Its CCPs shame not yours.
Turn on your harnders and boosters and log off.
Try and have an alt trained up on the same account in a blackbird with ecm fitted and a clone in system. Warp to the spot you were caught - and start with the ecm.
Youll take some damage off you - and indeed will know if you have popped so you can log your pod back in before it gets probed
Metagaming ftw - CCP love it.
