Typically I would post this in the site that I frequent for such things, unfortunitely in recent times that forum has lost alot of its good artists so I doubt I will get an answer from them.
Im attempting to teach myself how to draw the human form, as such I bought a text book that explains it in plain english. How im on the section about the arms and I am utterly confussed. Please see the following for what the instructions say:
instructions
However, when I look at the illistration for this particular instruction I become quite confused:
example
As you can see, the Author doesnt use the ovals themselves to form the upper arm, but in the example seems to draw the arm seperate of the ovals dispite him saying to use the ovals and to connect them with two parrael lines. Further instructions continue to give confusing illistrations and even seem to be in diffrent scales all togeather.
Does anyone know what he is talking about, how to make sence of it or can recomend something to help me figure it out? -------------------------------- To borrow a phrase:

the two big ovals are two heads, and the smaller ovals are what will become the upper arms. the 'heads' are only there as a graphical representation of 'draw two narrow ovals 1 1/3 of a head length apart from eachother"... to make sure everything is the right scale.
"to make sure they're the right amount of space apart, I draw two head shapes to the left of the narrow ovals to use as a measurement guide"
ignore if you want to.

no problem =^_^= the person who wrote that description though, should probably look into a career making technical manuals. they'd fit right in.
