Hola,
If someone has already come up with this idea and posted it then I apologize and am not trying to plagiarize.
By no means am I a pirate (5.1 sec status ftl) but I do believe pirates should be able to anchor bubbles in low sec.
Wait you say, thats not fair, thats not balanced, i cant semi-afk haul/whatever!!!
What if the faction bubbles looked like this?
- Same hp/range stats as its T2 counterpart (small/med/large), but as a drawback it "creates some kind of disturbance" that registers on the eve map within a certain number of jumps of its current location - say as a warp anomaly or something - the disturbances size/visibility on the map could be commensurate to the bubbles size.
- IE if a small dread guristas bubble were anchored in aununen people within say 3 jumps could see on their map that a "warp anomaly" is present in the system - and could avoid the system. However people not paying attention could get caught.
- You could go as far as getting the concord billboards to post warning nearby - "warning, concord reccomends not entering the JAN star system, warp anomaly present"
The bubbles description could be "Guristas scientists have modified this mobile small warp disruptor's transponder to allow it to be anchored within low security status empire systems - however they have not been able to mask the bubbles space disruption effects from standard empire sensors, meaning it glows like a lightbulb on standard navigational charts within scanning range."
I dunno, thinking out loud, I think it would add some great content for pirates, some more risk for everyone overall.
Volt It's great touching your own dink isn't it?

If you put a bubble up in low sec then the logical thing would be for the sentry guns to kill it, plus as good as it would be to have this the carebears would winge too much and loads of them would cry at CCP untill it was "fixed".

Edited by: z0de on 04/07/2008 05:18:22 A cool idea but A requirement should be to blow up sentries and billboard around the chosen gate, sentries would respawn every 15/30mins making it a real hassle to keep a bubble up, maybe even a concord/factional police fleet can come by and drop off new sentries. If bubbles are ever introduced to lowsec it should be very very hard to keep them there for any real amount of time.
This would require destroyable turrets.

destroyable guns would be a bad idea, how about just giving it a 15min time out. that way you still gotta tank sentry guns (they will start shooting at you the minute you drop it) and it ain't there forever. ____________________________________________________ Reality is for those who have no imagination. |

What carebears go into low sec anymore?
I like it, maybe make it fragile so you have to remote rep it or POOF it goes. __________________________________________________

Terrible idea.
Risk/reward of low sec is already stupid. Leave bubbles to 0.0 where they belong.

Yeah.. like, really CCP. Why am I keeping my sec up just so I have something worthwhile to shoot at. ------------

to be honest screw the map info, people not paying attention in lowsec get killed anyway. Just make it attract sentry fire so that it has to be remote repped to stay alive. - Violence isn't the answer, it is the question. The answer is yes. |

Smart pirates would setup the bubble > 150km from the gate. No sentries out there. It would be a massacre.
Sounds like fun :) --

Well, why don't you just get a few HICs? Camp them on the gate, and have a logistics ship remote rep them. Then get a Maelstrom or Mega or something snipe from outside the sentry range. Bam. Problem solved, unless there are game mechanics that I'm unfamiliar with somewhere in play here.
