So as the topic says...
...when starting a new character like Caldari Achura, is it worth to go with basic learnings to V and then advanced to IV or stick with basics at level IV and advanced ones in III level?
It takes around 9 days to train basics to IV and advanced ones to III if you place +3 implants rightaway after character creation. You will loose +2 points from attributes, but your attributes are still really high to start training for your career.
Atm I am training Basilisk alt and did the IV and III, but am I loosing much by not training them to V/IV? I plan to put that alt from training after needed skills are done.

May sound nooby, but is 4/4 not an option? or is 5/3 quicker?
Anyways, It doesn't seam to make that much difference, alot of people say to get some learning up first, but dont get really high, i presume they mean 5/4 5/5 - The extra 1 or two attribute points probably only make a big impact after a year or so of playing?
And at the beginning of a game, you really want to get into it. So you can actually do something in the game. Although thats the blessing of an Alt :)

Well if you will put the char off training after you finish your plan you can always create a plan in evemon and it will give you an optimal recommendation on your learning skill's

4/3 should be fine - and dont worry about training other skills that you need to fit | shoot things ... loosing a few hours at the beginning is not going make a BIG difference in the long run -- BIG Lottery, BIG Deal, InEve, USERPROFILE

4/4 would be optimal for anything you plan to play for a bit longer... MUCH better than 5/3, by a factor of 3 actually.
Still, 4/3 are fine for a while if you also have a set of +3s plugged in, heck, even 3/0 for the first few days as you get the "core skillset" together to at least L1/L2... then go for 4/3, and come back to 4/4 after a month or two.

Are you creating a new character on a second account? If so, train as much learnings as you think are optimum. 5+4 ftw.
If you're starting again because you have terrible stats or something, then spend about 50% of your training time on learnings until you get 4+3. Then do stuff for a week or two until you're absolutely sure this is the character you want to commit to. At that point, you should have enough SP to do level 3 missions for ISk and/or some useful PvP skills: train 4+4 and then maybe 5+4 if you're the type of guy who likes long term plans.
After 3-4 months get 5+4 anyway. By then you'll have the perspective to realise that a rank 1 skill to 5 is a "short" skill, so you might as well get it done. If you realise that one of your important stats (INT, PERC) is weak, then get that one to 5+5 if you like.
CONCORD provide consequences, not safety; only you can do that. |

this is how i did it... mem and int to lvl II trained up science and cybernetics then pluged in int and mem imps trained to cybernetics lvl IV then pluggedin a full set of +4's. then train int and mem to lvl IV then adv lvl IV and finally finished off basic V. after that i did learning to V and then the others to basic IV then adv IV and only trained per and will to basic V left chr at 4/3 as i wanted to get intot he game. i know have 24/24/15/24/24 attribs.
if i dont do ANY chr based skills thats 19m sp a year.

Edited by: Rhak Amharr on 07/07/2008 10:01:30 Here's how I did it (though I didn't do charisma skills):
- Trained mandatory stuff like Propulsion Jamming - Trained for +3 implants (Cybernetics II) and learning skills to 4/3 - Trained stuff I wanted to fly for a bit (T2 fitted Rifter with support skills for solo, Rupture for gangs) - Trained 4/4 - Trained a bit more stuff I wanted to fly (T2 fitted Rupture with support skills for solo, Hurricane for gangs) - Trained 5/4.
I "lost" a bit of theoretical training time, but I gained lots of fun. I'll never train 5/5, so I finally have no more learning skills to do, until I want to train leadership skills, and I love it.

Each training from 4-3 to 4-4 pays back in approximately 24 days (per each attribute that is).
Each training from 4-4 to 5-4 pays back in approximately 90 days.
This depends on your training plan (how well you utilise gained ability points) but does not depend on base attributes or implants - "payback times" will be the same.
