Really interested in EVE and thinking of buying a copy of EON, but $15 + shipping is quite a bit for a magazine. |

Not when you include $35 P&P.
I will be subscribing to the electronic version when it is archivable. |

I used to subscribe, and its pretty cool a pretty cool magazine. The quality will amaze you, its very good for a magazine.
I only stopped subscribing because I just don't enjoy the direction Eve has taken, and I can't justify spending another $80/year (including shipping) for something I only kinda enjoy.
But it your happy with Eve, the Mag is really worth the cost. |

I would too, but the problem is that the electronic version was supposed to come out over a year ago.
EDIT: Nevermind, looks like they DO have a digital version, 4 issues, (year subscription) for $25. |

I had considered buying E:ON but I fear that it's just not worth the money - CCP can't really give them any exclusive (or early) information on upcoming changes without upsetting the playerbase at large, EVE gameplay/mechanics is well documented all across the internets and a printed magazine will always lack woefully behind when it comes to player news.
Why would I want to read about tier 3 bcs in February when most fittings were already theory-crafted in late October/November? |

I took out a 12 month subscription, which just finished at the most recent issue. Personally, I won't be renewing my subscription, although hundreds of other readers probably will -- So, don't take my advice as 'gospel'.
If I had to talk about the magazine in terms of its physical 'production quality'; it's excellent. It's really well produced, and nicely designed.
In terms of actual content... not so much. After reading a year's worth of articles, I can sadly say that EN24 has more insider-info than EON does... :(((
If you're thinking of buying it to get an idea of where the game might be headed, or what Dev's are working on, etc. Forget it... Their speculative articles might be interesting to read, but that's ultimately all they are... Speculation. CCP seem to keep them under an even tighter NDA than the CSM.
The fan-fiction is good, but for that price, I could buy two full novels, not just two pages...
Overall, I'd say it was a 'quite good' magazine, but the content comes nowhere near to what you'd probably expect for the price they charge for it. In that respect, it's a complete disappointment.
Although, having said that... If money's no object, and you keep your hopes low enough, you might find it quite enjoyable. Otherwise, I'd take that $15 + postage, and buy a 30 day GTC. |
