I've played the free trial, and im running out of time soon, see i love MMORPGS! I've been playing 2 major MMOs for years, runescape and WOW (World of Warcraft), on runescape i've got two level 138's (maxed level on runescape) and have done almost everything on there. WOW i've gotten to level 85, gotten all the expansion packs, and done almost everything too.
So now i come to eve, a very very hard game, but the greatest i ever played, so far i've been doing alot of agent missions and just exploring the universe and its very large size :P, so now i say should i play?, if you could tell me your eve starting stories and give me a list of stuff to do!
Thanks! |

Also, join a player-run corporation. In EVE, it's all about the people. Remember: They're only pixels; it's not real money; it's supposed to be fun! |

The number one thing you need to be aware of about EVE Online is that it is not a "theme park" MMO like World of Warcraft.
In "theme park" MMOs you are given instructions: "kill 10 pigs", "collect a dozen wraith fingers" etc. As you progress through the pre-written story, your quests send you to different places to kill different monsters and collect different items. Thus a "theme park" MMO spoon feeds you, and provides external guidance so you have very few decisions to make besides simply continuing to push buttons. In a way, they are nothing more than interactive books.
EVE Online is a "sandbox" MMO. There are no character levels, for starters. You will never catch up in "Skill Points" to people who have been playing the game for eight years. The missions you get from NPCs are mere ISK-generating distractions. Where the game is really played is in the interactions between players, the forming of alliances, and the breaking down of the same. EVE doesn't hold your hand and tell you where to go or what to do.
You are a capsuleer, unbound. There is no prewritten story for you to follow. You have the power - indeed, the responsibility - to choose your own destiny.
In my case, I've been puttering around as a hisec care bear. When I started, I was fixated on generating ISK. I didn't focus as much on building friendships - and for that I'm now suffering. The number one task that I would give to any new player is make friends. Your friends will help you find interesting things to do.

Just a word of caution there though: training the skills to pursue any of those paths takes time. Time is the scarcest resource in EVE. Training to fly a Hulk to strip asteroid fields bare will necessarily take time away from training to fly a covert operations frigate, which will take time away from training the skills required to build battleships.
The starting "Career Advancement" missions will educate you in the basics of flying ships, manufacturing, probing cosmic signatures, and most importantly losing ships to significantly larger enemy gangs. Make sure you do those missions. Do them again if you can, through the Career Agents in a different region.
Oh, and you might find the New Citizens Useful Threads page to be useful (that's what it's called, after all). |

Thanks! I have been playing this game since 2007 and I play a lot. I have done many things in this game. I still love it and always will. Find what you want to do and have the most fun with and do it. Don't let anybody tell you otherwise. Eve is also a harsh place but rewarding specially if and when you push back.
Eve is all about doing what YOU want to do because it is a sandbox. It is a game that rewards you for taking risks. Find a corp or alliance with your similar goals and roll with them. You will be sure to totally enjoy your experience here. This game is unlike most tho because it takes time. But you don't have to invest much effort into this game to become powerful it just takes time. I never like leveling up games much anymore because it takes too much effort killing the same stuff ten hours a day.
In eve I don't even have to rat to make isk, I can build stuff, or trade stuff. And I am a billionaire from that because I know the market and what to build also because I have good skills in it. This lets me have most of my free time to pew pew. This is how I love to play like. XD It may be a long road but eve gets more fun over time you just have to be the kind that can wait without trouble. That does not mean you can't pvp right away.
All you need is a team and a frigate that can tackle and you can blow people up right away. All corps need tacklers. If pvp is not your thing find what you like. The limit is only your imagination I would say because this game just about has it all and pretty close to having it all. lol |

Welcome aboard Motamar :)
My number one advice would be to start thinking about getting into a player run corporation. There are many different out there to choose from but for a lot of people, EVE truly starts to make sense when you join a corp and start doing things with a good group of people. A good corporation will teach you a lot of things you need to know and back you up in many ways.
And don't hesitate to use this forum if you have any questions about the game, people are generally really helpful here.

Same happened to me, I had a mission that took me to low sec. I was in the middle of doing the mission and a Pirate in his Thorax came, killed all the rats for me, then killed me after, told me where the mission item was then gave advice on how to survive envounters with pirates like him. I learned more from that 5 minute experience than any of the EVE tutorials. |

Hah, thanks for the tip. Is his offer really better than mine? I tell you how to make billions of ISK yet he only offers 250m isk and shut the door, and that is if he pays you. People can go ahead and offer more than 50%, but the more they offer, the more it indicates its a scam. Plus, I have a lot more feedback than him, and this may surprise you, but majority select the lower ISK option with the advice. |

Very true, I have had quite a few people and up thanking me after I blew up their ship due to conversations like these, and to be honest about half the people I ever recruited for corporations were pilots recently on the receiving end of my guns. Just remember us pvpers arnt all bad people, many will give you good avice after killing you including how not to die from pirates in the future. |

some pirates that blew up my ship during my first few days actually gave me 5mil isk afterwards. Another guy bought me a new incursus and fitted it then gave it to me and showed me how to tackle another player.
one guy recruited me into his corp and taught me some things about pvp. now if only i actually listened better i might be better, oh well lol |

I started to play in 2004 and join a founding corp of Stain Alliance. At that time there was a big war raging on between Curse Alliance and anybody around them. I was around them and dragged into some of the biggest battles of that time.
Moving on in time and space I took part in all major wars in the south of EVE and destroyed thousands of ships and lost quite a few myself. Fore some strange reason I became entrusted in Dark-Rising to be a director. I was working as a recruiter (read: I was rejecting missile spammers.) and later as a main fleet commander. If there is EVE there is DRAMA. So I split up with them and went back to empire to amass the wealth of empires.
Who knows where I go next?

To play catch up focus on 1 profession limiting to level 4 for most skills
I have been playing since 2004 and you can constantly switch from one section to the next.
On my to do list is still PI, Worm Holes, Pirate Life, Merc Life, Eve University. and the list goes on.
I have so far completed, Missioning, some epic missions, Null sec life all play styles except manufacturing.
and there are so other things I don't know . |

Hey man.
I've been playing since 2005 and have been a combat centric player the whole time. I've done mercenary work, and null sec territory warfare, but the most fun I've had is low security piracy. If you dont mind being banned from high security space (and believe me, well set-up pirates always have ways to get stuff into and out of high sec), then piracy is a lot of fun when you fly with a bunch of like-minded individuals. The group I'm with now, I've been playing with for a couple of years now, and recently we joined with Gallente in Faction Warfare to have more targets and access to immense wealth (FW missions pay really well), with some bigger backup if things escalate.
It's a lot of fun, and like other people say dont listen to the people who believe you have to have all level 5's to pvp well, because that is not the case at all. PVP is more about knowledge of the situation and your fleet/ship's abilities and less on your SP. I can tell you with 100% certainty that individuals who have only been playing for the trial period can still wreak havoc on the pvp battlefields, and as the case is with many people here, don't be afraid. I have bought new ships for, and tutored many people whom I had just killed. Partly because I remember being new and dying myself, and partly because training people how to pvp is an investment in our future as well as theirs. Believe it or not a lot of our best members are people who we had killed and who struck up conversation with us afterward.
Sure, you will find some elitist individuals/groups who will treat you badly, but that doesn't represent the majority, not by a long shot. One thing to keep in mind, about the skills as far as ships are concerned, is that each ship and module only uses a small portion of a pilot's overall SP. For example, if I fly a battlecruiser, I am not using any of my battleship skills or any of the battleship module skills. It's a lot easier to "catch up" than people think because the raw SP value of a pilot is nothing compared to his knowledge of the battle and his skill in combat. That's what makes this game great.
At any rate, if you read all this, thanks for sticking with me. Feel free to look me up in game if you want help or questions or anything :)
